Chapter III-IV:
Ambassador
The noblewoman suddenly made a sharp turn and crossed the hall towards the pair.
S-She hasn't figured out who I am, right?
I’m wearing a disguise and I haven’t yet made my debut into high society, so no one except the royal palace's servants, Carlston, and my father should be able to tell I’m the princess.
...Right?
Although she reassured herself, it was evident the young girl wasn't confident.
“Oh my, ambassador. I didn’t realize you had a daughter.”
“Good day, my lady. Unfortunately, this cute girl isn’t my daughter. I’m simply escorting her.”
“My~ I was worried for a second there.” The overly-done-up woman was cooing. “But, you’re so good with children!”
The musically-gifted child was able to discern: Her voice suddenly went up an octave there! And why did she get so loud?
It wasn’t only Eilane that had noticed, suddenly there was another noblewoman that rushed up from out of nowhere.
“Sir Oliver!”
Where’d she come from!? Don’t tell me she has teleportation magic too!?
Lady A: “What are you doing so far from your usual place? This is Pearl Palace, you know? Perhaps you’re lost? If you’d like, I could call a servant to show you back to Amber House.”
Lady B: “Oh good day, I didn’t even see you there. Your dress matches the carpet so well, you practically coined the term wallflower! It suits you wonderfully.”
The women were slinging around pretty words, but their eyes were cold.
Isn’t Amber House where the lower-ranking nobles stay? Even this young child could tell something was off.
Oliver smiled, “How nice that you two get along so well.”
Princess Eilane Erst was instantly disillusioned. Is this guy blind? Does staring at a mirror and seeing only pretty things make you only see pretty things in reality too?
Thus, at the early age of 5, she developed the notion that good-looking guys were no good.
Young Eilane’s not-yet-fully-developed intuition flared up, or it would be more apt to say her safety alarm began ringing. However, she was inexperienced in the ways of the world and was unable to act upon it quickly enough. Just as she was about to tug on his arm to urge their escape from this warzone, it was too late.
The raised voices caused more women to flock over, chirping incessantly over this bachelor.
A few maids in Pearl Palace had come out of the woodworks as well. They had heard the handsome ambassador, Oliver, was taking a stroll and hoped to catch a glance at some eye-candy. Instead, what they saw was their young charge surrounded by carnivorous women.
“Princess!?”
“Wait, this isn’t-”
Immediately, they understood she was playing hooky without even hearing her justifications. And so, while the future queen may have procrastinated the idea of marriage that day as well… She also got spanked by the head maid relentlessly afterwards.
Good-looking guys are absolutely no good! Was the misguided lesson that ended up getting beaten into her.
