Chapter VI-II:
Duke of Waterwell
Cameron continued on, “Before my succession training in becoming a duke, my military career included rising up to the rank of brigadier general.”
He’s a military man too!? Actually, isn’t that rank way too high for a 27 year old!? The competition felt wholly inadequate before this man.
Just as they thought it couldn't get any worse, the duke sent a meaningful glower towards the lines of suitors behind him and said:
“Although we are in times of unprecedented peace, military tactics can be utilized in all manners of situations. For instance, showing heavy-handed power can put the mediocre rabble in their place.”
The surprise attack was merciless as the blood drained from everyone’s faces.
Eilane Erst narrowed her eyes in comprehension.
Listing off such grand achievements one-by-one… Not only does it serve to unnerve his opponents, but everything they say after will pale in comparison.
His real meaning was truly laced with poison. He’s aiming to slaughter everyone here with such an overwhelming introduction.
“It is my hope that I have successfully conveyed my aptitude, for I believe I have the qualifications to shoulder half your burden.”
Cameron’s dark eyes snapped upwards to meet those of the woman sitting high above him, his deep voice softening. “It would be an honour to stand by your side forever, Queen Eilane.”
Eilane blinked in surprise at the sudden change in tone.
Longing sighs and a few thumps could be heard along the veranda. Instinctively, she knew some of the women spectating must have swooned and fainted behind her just then.
To start off with such cold logic before unleashing that last romantic line [gap moe]…
What a dangerously calculative speech.
Cameron, the future duke of Waterwell bowed before removing himself from her presence. His back as he walked away truly exhibited the legitimate image of a proper noble.
He says 'shoulder half my burden', but I can imagine he would slowly drain my work and authority from me until he holds all the power.
Even if I were to successfully block his attempts...
He’d definitely be a nagging husband, so no way.
With her thoughts as abrasive as ever, the Queen procrastinated the idea of marriage [with suitor 3/100] today as well.
