THE UNENDING ELEMENTAL STORY

(Pt. 1)CHAPTER 2.2

(Pt. 1)CHAPTER 2.2

May 20, 2020

"You can cook? " Mevis asked, looking at me.

"Yes. " I replied, taking a few ingredients out.

"Is it any good? "

"For us, yes. For them, it might be poisoned, who knows? "

"You have poison? "

"Of course. I have trained in many ways of assassination. "

"I already told you not to kill anyone. "

"Fine. "

I sighed and put the poison I prepared back into the fridge. I then continued with cooking a few dishes, laying the table with steaming dishes. I then made the lights dimmer for dramatic effect. Just as I was done, the doorbell rang. I stood at the side, having gotten myself a butler suit.

Mevis answered the door, seeing Mark holding out some flowers.

"What a nice evening, isn't it? " Mark said.

"Whatever. " Mevis told him and guided his family into the dining room.

There were four figures, Mark, his parents and a girl. She hung her head shyly, never speaking. When they all sat down, Mark was glaring at me while speaking to Mevis. I approached the quiet girl and place a cup of water in front of her.

"Why are you head? " I asked.

She raised her head. She had straight black hair that was long enough to reach her waist. Her face was usually blank with barely any emotion. When I talked to her, her face lit up a little. She looked at me longer before nodding. After so many years of knowing each other, I learnt to read her facial expression, we communicated that way.

"So, you used to be a servant of Mark's grandfather... " I confirmed.

She nodded.

"And you're now Mark's servant? "

She nodded.

"That's probably a pain, isn't it? "

She shook her head vigorously. I smiled at her and asked, "Well, as long as you're happy. "

Mark shouted, "Servant! My glass is empty! Refill it, you incompetent! "

I smiled and walked up to Mark, refilling his glass. When I stood straight up again, but he tried to splash water on me. I asked, "So, do you want your glass refilled, sir? "

The water splashed on me had evaporated.

Mark regained his composure and told me to refill it. I did it, then went around, refilling more glasses while the adults talked.
