Was this a fucked up afterlife? Looking into his eyes I give a faint smile being 

nervous as hell. 

"Why were you drifting in the river woman?"

 The way he kept referring to me was getting annoying. 

"Firstly my name is Agatha Fox. Second, I have no idea. Last I knew was I 

was walking up my stairs to go to bed then awoke here."

 The man leans closer to me. I could feel his breath against my neck. Was he 

smelling me like some kind of animal? 

"You don't give off a scent of anyone from here. By the way I would leave 

your chest covered at all time. You have a Victoria cruziana lily in between

 your breasts. That shows your magic core is more than I've ever heard of 

Agatha."

 Okay he said magic right and I have it? Wait looking into the shirt I see the

 marking he spoke about. What the fucking hell has happened to me? Did 

when I fall Chris give me some trippy medicine to make me hallucinate? If so

 this would make much more sense to me.

He leans back up stretching some looking me over again. 

"My name is Kai Moore." 

Kai looked like someone you would want to avoid. Seeing as I knew no one 

else I should stick close to him. I still didn't understand what he meant by a 

magic core. Did everyone in this world possess something like this on their

 body? Looking more closely at Kai I see that he is wearing a pair of leather

 pants, a baggy shirt with a black vest over it. I can see more clearly that he's

 got a star shaped scar under his left eye. 

"What the hell are you staring at now?" 

Instinctively I jumped when he spoke.

 "Um..the scar on your face."

 Kai let out a sigh picking up a huge sack from the ground just throwing it 

over his shoulder. 

"If you are going to follow me come on...just be warned some of the people

 around me aren't as nice."

 I had to admit he was nice to me well for the most part. Was I getting to see 

a soft side to him? Walking next to him my entire side was aching. What did I

 hit while in the river I wonder? As if reading my mind Kai looks down to me. 

"You were bitten by one of the river creatures. Not sure which one of those 

freaks got you."

 Great so going swimming in rivers was out of the question here. We both

 remain silent as he leads the way. As I walked I noticed even the trees were

 strange. The bark was blue as their leaves were red. The grass was a dingy 

grey which felt so melancholy.

Kai kept glancing at me examining everything. It appeared that it was 

amusing to him; seeing someone my age act like a child. Although I would 

normally comment but it was all new to me. I was basically a child in a new

world. It was still in the air if this world was even safe for me. When we were 

getting closer to the sounds of people I grabbed hold of the bottom of his 

shirt. Thankfully Kai didn't say anything but gave me a slight smile. He 

actually took my hand as we came closer to the village.

 "Stay close to me."

Trust me you didn't have to tell me twice. He smirked seeing the sarcasm in

 my eyes. Looking up I was dumbfounded with seeing all these beings. One

 looked almost like a humanoid lizard. What kind of world did I really come 

to?

 "Kai..are there others like me in this world?"

 He looked down to me seeing that I was actually scared.

 "Yes, they don't usually travel in this region though. Most of the primate 

clan lives in Tocau city."

 Okay so I would be considered part of the primate clan. I wonder what the 

other clans were actually like?

A man who looked like a bear leaned over as Kai stopped then he grabbed 

some of my hair. Quickly I clung onto Kai scared.

 "Let go!"

 The bear looked amused.

 "How much for your primate?"

 Huh, he wanted to buy me? Fuck please tell him no Kai? He turned around

 looking to the bear growling. Kai moved so fast that my eyes couldn't keep 

up with him. I glance back to the bear to see him laying on the ground 

clinging to his arm where there was a deep gash.

 "Touch her again and I will fucking kill you." 

Kai pulled me close to his body as he bared his fangs to the bear. That is

when I could see fear in his eyes. How strong was Kai to scare such a 

creature? The bear got up running off as Kai looked me over to make sure 

that there was so fresh wounds. 

"I'm alright...thank you for saving me."

 He gave a faint smile turning back to the stall vendor. The vendor glanced to

 me then paid Kai for his goods. He was still baring his fangs slightly. I guess

 in this world my kind can be sold off as property. Did that mean that Tacou

 was a city of slaves?

I clung onto him as we started to walk again. He made us stop at a shabby 

looking Inn. I just followed him. We sat down at an empty table while the 

waitress came over smiling. She looked like an eagle from my world but with 

a humanoid form. Kai placed our orders as I was still too scared to talk.

 "It will be alright. If you wonder, Tacou isn't a city of slaves. It was written

 all over your face. Out here it is common practice to sell primate clan 

members. Some of the clans actually eat your kind around here."

 Joy now I had to fear being eaten on top of everything else. This world was

 really shitty for someone like me. I looked down to the food then back to

 him. 

"Don't worry Agatha it is not primate meat."

 That was good enough for me to actually eat since I'm starving. Kai watched 

as I ate my food quickly. To be honest I was afraid of him telling me I ate 

another humanoid. When I finished he started to laugh then began to eat his

 food. Was I really that funny? He ate slowly just glancing at me on and off.

 "Kai when we are alone can you explain the cores more to me please?" 

He gave me a nod as he took a gulp of his alcoholic drink. It made me feel 

stupid but I just noticed having the same kind of drink. Thank goodness I'd 

not drink any of it. Last time I drank it was horrible, I started a fist fight with

 a neighbor.

We entered the room then he locked the door. He put the small dresser in 

front of the door.

 "This way no one can come into the room. I don't want anyone to think you

 are an easy target."

 That was actually kind of sweet of him. I sat down on the bed just wanting to

 wake and this be a dream. My back was killing me at the moment. Kai leans 

over pulling the shirt up over my head. What the hell did you not know the

 meaning of personal space? He gently took off the bloody bandages.

 "I need to put more salve on the wound. Try not to move around too much."

 Yeah like that was so simple. You're a man and I am basically a topless 

woman. Closing my eyes I just try to imagine it is my doctor doing an 

examination. It didn't take long for him to finish and put new bandages on

 me. Kai patted my head just sitting down next to me on the bed. I quickly

 pulled the shirt back over my body. This was so embarrassing that I was 

blushing from it. Putting my hands in my face I try to calm down. I could feel

 Kai put his hand on my shoulder.

Moving my hands I see that he was trying not to laugh. Really you were an 

asshole to laugh at me. Taking a breath in I hit him on the head lightly. Kai 

laughs out loud this time. 

"Come on we should get some sleep now."

 Looking to him he lifts me onto his chest wrapping an arm around my waist.

 "This is safer trust me." 

Okay it might be safer but not to my heart it wasn't. I could feel his tone 

muscles through his clothing. Holy shit was it even possible to feel this soft 

while his body was rock hard? Closing my eyes I become stiff as a board 

feeling his hand on my lower back. Admittedly his touch was very soft but 

this was the first time sleeping with someone other than my mother. Chris 

had spent the night at my house before but slept on the floor and on a mat.

 "Would you relax already otherwise by morning you will be extremely 

stiff."

 Kai pulled me more into his chest which didn't help my composure. Letting 

out a breath I just try to calm down. Not realizing it I'd fallen into a deep 

sleep. In the morning I awoke to the bed empty. Glancing up I see Kai is 

topless giving himself a sponge bath in the corner. Oh my fucking god he was

 so hot. I could see scars that looked like claw marks on his chest and back. I 

assumed it was from fighting with other clans. I buried my face in the pillow 

trying not to blush.

 "You don't need to hide. Plus we need to give you a sponge bath around the

 wounds before I put more salve on you.''

Dear god don't talk about bathing me. I have bathed myself since I was five

 years old without any help.

Reluctantly I get out of the bed walking over. Kai hadn't put his shirt back on 

yet. He leaned over looking at my blushing face. 

"If you want I will turn around while you bathe your front."

 I nod like a crazy person as he laughs. I was starting to feel like the bunt of a 

joke with him. He hands the sponge over to me. Afterwards I try to take off 

the shirt without hurting myself. The water was still really warm so at least I

 wouldn't freeze. Once done I covered my breast with the shirt tapping Kai's 

shoulder. He turned around taking the sponge back starting to un-do the

 bandages. Once they were off he slowly wiped around the wounds.

 "How many more times do we have to put salve on there?"

 He kept cleaning the wound area along with the surrounding area.

 "For a couple of days since this salve takes time to heal the wounds. Once

 we reach a bigger city I can get better medicine."

 Letting out a sigh my mind drifts to having to experience this 

embarrassment several more times. Kai moves his hand very softly over the

 wounds putting fresh salve on the wounds. Each stroke felt nice and cool. 

Once he was done he handed me a clean shirt with a pair of pants that looked

 cut. Looking more closely they were a pair of his pants. 

"Thanks."

 I really didn't want to wear leather pants but there was no choice. My 

clothes needed to be washed so the blood and body odor would be gone.
