Nancy arrives at home with no incident besides a minor detour to visit the River Pack, once the Dire Wolf Alpha had heard of her being taken he put in a request to meet her. When Simon drove there she stepped out of the car to see the biggest wolf she had ever seen. The old Alpha had known her great grandmother personally and had wanted to make sure she had the chance to met him. The Alpha was almost as big as her cat form, and he wasn’t happy to hear that her mother had been afraid of her. He had also chuckled over how dumb Drake was. As she steps out of the car an orange ball of fury bolts out and latches itself to her.
“Hi there Dang nice to see you to.” Doug steps into view from behind the house. “I will have you know that cat was besides himself, I imagine if that Alpha wolf shows up again he might take a chuck out.” Simon then slams his door, “good; maybe that wolf will learn some manners then.” I shrug my shoulders not concerned with it.
Doug claps me on the shoulder, “you should have a few years before I can convince Sharon to move out here. She’ll probably help my mom with the produce garden while I work in the mechanic shop.” He levers a look at Simon, “I passed the word around that the wolves who kidnapped Nancy wanted to move out here. Since everyone here knows the requirements for a wolf Pack to move, they will not make it easy on them.” Simon nods and gives a waves then gets back in his car and leaves, I hope they don’t give him to much trouble at the office for the damage to his car.
Doug laughs, “yeah the townspeople are not please with those people; Zhang is really besides himself over their behavior. I doubt he will ever serve them a meal if they manage to move here.” Again I shrug my shoulders not caring the wolves’ opinion.
I was very happy to be home again, I missed my home and my animals and proceeded to go and check on everyone after extracting Dang from my chest. Doug follows close behind me informing me that he put all the feed away and one of the pregnant does had her kits. Which was good, it was time to start working on the next batch of does to get pregnant. Doug hung out and helped me with my chores then headed back into town to go back to work.
I walk into my house and dig out a bottle of my home brewed elder flower wine, and pouring a glass raising it in the direction of my mother’s grave. I barely drink a sip when I get a phone call from town. It was from the farm store, “I had to restrain Jake then I let him go. As once he found out you were a shifter he had a fit.” I sighed and swallowed the rest of my glass eyeing the bottle. Jake was from a family who hated anything not pure human, he was probably disgusted he had hit on me. The shop owner then wished me well and hung up, I shake my head hoping that his family won’t make a big deal about me.
After I pour another glass I receive another call, this one was from Zhang. He apparently was very upset that I had been taken by the wolves, he even commented in an off handed way that is they cause me any trouble he still had some of the ‘odder’ recipes from China. I am pretty sure I do not want to ask about that, I spent the remainder of the day answer calls from well wishers who were upset t the wolves’ behavior.
That evening as I open my freezer to decide on a meal (Doug had said he put my meats away too), I am astounded by the amount in my freezer. I had only requested a couple hundred pounds of mixed meats, which would have made my freezer about half full. It was now full to the top, I can only imagine how upset the butchers were. They always smelled odd but I never asked what they were out of politeness. Deciding on a nice piece of beef I set it in my oven to slow roast as I sat down to work on at least 4 chapters in my latest contrite teen werewolf romance. Oddly, the junk I wrote into the stories seem accurate for their behavior in the real world; I muse as I dive into my work.
I complete two more chapters than I had planned rolling my eyes at how stupid I feel writing that junk. I check my phone as I always leave it turned off while I write. Those wolves are really pushing it. The Alpha and his personal entourage are attempting to lodge in the hotel. I shake my head at the text from Doug and I text him back, I am surprised they let them in. after a moment while I start heating a prepped double baked potato to finish cooking while the meat does. They didn’t. They had to go across the highway and stay at the one there. I thought on that placing the potato into the oven, it is technically out of town. I text back Tell Simon. I then go and dig through my home brew cabinet and find a nice red that had been aging since I was sixteen. I had been brewing these with my mom since I could safely hold the glass parts to our system. When this batch had been bottled my mom told me to save the bottles for special occasions, I figured surviving a kidnapping constituted that.
As I start slicing through the beautifully cooked roast I receive a text from Simon. They are not permitted near you till they have their permits in order I nod my head and put my phone down knowing that Simon had everything under control. After my meal I receive yet another call, but it wasn’t a local number and I answer it.
“Where are you Nancy? We’re Mates I should be with you” I instantly hang up on Drake and break my phone in my hand as if it was made from paper. After doing so I swear under my breath and go to my computer, where I send Simon an email detail the message and what I did to my phone.
A few hours later there is a knock on the door I step out and pick up the package that was most likely left by a local Brownie and open it to take out the phone Simon sent me. I turn it on and read, next time call me before breaking your phone Nancy. I chuckle being able to hear his exacerbation in the message. Phones were a great tool for tracking those of us on the registry all phones of someone on the registry were government issued and had a very hack proof gps in them. So as soon as my phone left my ‘territory’ they knew I was missing. Another text comes through they have been informed of their indiscretion. I chuckle again, if they are to have no contact calling me was a definite no no.
