Maxx let out a haggard cough as Matt put a bare palm to the teens forehead, “Your burning up my sweet prince.” the older ginger said gently cupping the teens heated face with a worried look on his own. The teen looked down, “You see, this is what happens when you and the others sneak out after dark.” his father lightly scolded as the younger ginger laid back under his pink covers, “I know staying on base all spring break is boring, but not only did you four get caught in the rain, paired with your weakened immune system, you ended up getting sick too.”
“I know, I’m sorry daddy.” he apologized trying to hide under his covers. Matt sighed and gave a small smile before pressing a kiss to his son’s hot forehead, “It’s alright Maxximilian.” he gently stroked Maxx's slightly dampened hair back out of the boy's pale face.
Matt than talked to his wife about Maxx, and Amanda decided she would call into work so she could look after their sick teen. They would need Matt at the police stations Intelligence unit and Ricky had extra classes to attend to make up for lost credits after all. Course the husband argued about this, being that he wanted to be home to keep an eye on the sick teen, especially since Alex wanted to stay home from daycare, but Amanda insisted he go to work while she stayed behind.
Matt and Amanda had both always been very attentive parents because of the possible health problems that Maxx might have developed throughout his infancy and childhood. Price to pay for having a few vampire traits and refraining from drinking human blood. Ricky and Alex didn't have such issues luckily, Maxx was just born frail. Amanda had to practically push her husband out the door with the lunch she had prepared him just to get him to go to work. She had to kick her husband out of the house.
Wonderful.
Hopefully Ricky wouldn't be that much of a hassle when he woke up for his collage classes later.
With that said, the woman quickly got to making her son something easy to digest after putting, Maxx usually had to eat hardy because of the effects the vampire genes had on him just to keep his blood sugar at a stable level, but his stomach was currently too delicate to handle something heavy. The doctors said his condition was a form of hypoglycemia, but Matt and Amanda knew better, so with experience, the little wife knew just what to make for her little ginger prince.
Amanda put on her periwinkle blue "Kiss the Misses" apron and started on her son’s favorite soup, Pumpkin Soup, and of course a bit of creme of chicken soup for her oldest to take for lunch later. Feeding a house full of boys and a very hungry 8 year old was tough. She had hoped her next child would be a girl to help even things out, but seemed like all her kids were destined to be big eaters.
When the teen got sick, he always loved to eat pumpkin soup with a flakey dinner roll because it was gentle on his stomach and had a sweet taste. While Maxx often ate a lot of meat cooked rare, ribs being a favorite, he’d choose pumpkin soup over it anytime.
Meanwhile, Maxx was stuck in bed, trying to ignore how heavy his chest felt, and how irritating the fever was to deal with. The one night he forgets his waterproof parasol and matching rain coat, he ends up getting sick.
But at least all four of them had fun that night.
The four friends had snuck out to attend a highschool house party off the base. They dressed up nicely and followed the directions they got in the schools group chat forum.
Theo was dressed in a dark blue dress shirt with his dad’s checkered tie hanging loosely around his neck with a pair of black dress pants. Ethan was dressed in a black Toxic Kitty shirt with a green flannel shirt and ripped blue jeans, and of course one of his mom’s thick chokers with dull studs, hopefully she wouldn’t notice it was gone before he had a chance to give it back. Tobi was dressed in a white dress shirt with an orange sweater pulled over it, a black coat, and black pants, his hair was a mess to keep his horn from standing up and his usual black dust mask.
Lastly Maxx was dressed in a black long sleeve crop top and pink jeans that were torn at the knees, it was his favorite party outfit. Though he had made the mistake of not bringing his umbrella, he thought his thick pink hoodie would be fine.
Spoiler alert, it wasn't.
The party was loud and crowded, but it was so full of energy, it was hard to sit still as the music blared.
Ricky, Nicky and Tally had been to house parties before, having also snuck out during highschool, and had told the teens all about it. Going to parties was an important part of their teen years. Tally said they needed to socialize alot and have fun, but also threatened if any of them popped a party candy, they were going to get their asses beat. Which scared them more than the weird 70s "What to do when-" videos they played during social studies.
Regardless, the four quickly started to enjoy themselves. Theo and Ethan were playing a drinking game after an hour (Theo was taking the shots) Tobi was flirting with a cute blond girl, meanwhile Maxx was the center of attention with a small group he was chatting with. Maxx was the most natural in a party setting, he was social and talkative, and enjoyed the attention, so it didn't take long to form a group talking about anything and everything through the music.
It was only when one guy in the group wrapped an arm around Maxx's shoulder, that the ginger started feeling a bit-
Uncomfortable.
It wasn't the first time a group of teens talking had alot of dirty jokes and inappropriate comments, but that guy in particular was a little too interested with Maxx being trans. His questions were in joking tones, but still came off as invasive. So the moment he could, Maxx left that situation with the excuse of getting another drink (after "accidently" spilling it)
But the creep decided to follow him, and the questions kept getting more invasive and more inappropriate. Not the immature kinda inappropriate, just-
The gross kind....
"Alright that's enough buddy," said a firm voice as the guy was pulled back by his shirt. Maxx had been corned by the the creep at the snack table, and he didn't show any sign of backing off until Malcolm, an older, taller young man, intervened. Malcolm was a lot taller than the creepy guy, and he had a firm grip that intimidated the asshole enough to make him back off.
This made Maxx feel alot more angry than relieved. He hated that he had let that creep push him around, especially when he had wanted to scream at him the whole time, yet he was intimidated and unsettled into silence instead. So instead. Malcolm, the guy that aggravated and angered the ginger to no end, had come to his rescue.
"I didn't need your help...." Maxx growled glaring at the other, Malcolm just looked down at the other his a calm expression, "Didn't look that way to me."
"I don't care what it looked like, I. Didn't. Need. Your. Help." And with that, Maxx turned around and walked outside angerly, causing the blond to follow, "Why are you so angry?" He asked.
"Gee, I wonder!" Maxx huffed, "Maybe because your always budding in, and acting like a know it all jerk!?"
"When do I act like that?"
"All the time! Your always budding in where your not needed! Your always so rude to me!"
"Sorry, I didn't realize I was coming off that way."
Ever since they were little, Malcolm had been a bully to Maxx, he lightened up after awhile, but Maxx still vividly remembered how mean he was back than. It was all petty kid stuff, nothing terrible, he never ruined maxx's things, never shoved him into places, and when he transitioned, Malcolm never brought it up. He was respectful in that sense, but even so, Malcolm always came off as rude when he talked to Maxx. He made the ginger so angry. "Than stop pretending to be nice..." the ginger boy turned away, "You've always been a jerk to me, so I don't know why your bothering."
"Because that guy was crossing the line," Malcolm said running a hand through his hair, "He wasn't keeping his hands to himself, even after you got up he didn't back off, and the way he was talking-"
"WERE YOU WATCHING ME THE WHOLE TIME!?" Maxx shouted, his face turning red from anger and embarrassment. He didnt even want his friends to see him like that, much less this guy.
Malcolm went for a minute quiet and looked away, "Yea... kinda..."
The ginger let out a loud, angry growl, actually making the older teen flinch, "You. Are. Unbelievable!" and he ran off to be alone. He really didn't want to see him anymore.
He hated Malcolm for alot of reason, but most of all he hated how much he liked him too, it was the worst feeling to both like and hate the same person at once. It was confusing...
As the teen turned in his bed, he noticed his holocell glowing and vibrating, he was getting a message. With hazy eyes, the ginger boy picked up his device and expanded it to read the message he recieved, before quickly hiding under his covers, his face turning and even more vibrate shade of red.
"Maxx, soup is ready." Amanda chirped as she entered the room, only to find her youngest son hidden under the covers, "What's wrong sweetie?" she asked, only to recieved an embarressed groan.
[I heard you got sick. I'm sorry, this is my fault. I hope you feel better soon - Malcolm]
