Days came and went. Erat would come every day to watch over him. He still wasn't big on talking, but he was better than the other one. Erat had told him that he was guarding him during the nights so at least he got a sense of time because of his presence.
“Erat?” Dashiell said after another day of too much silence.
“Yes?”
“Would it be possible to get a book or something? I really need something to do.”
“A book?” Erat repeated, “you can read?”
“Yes! I might be a whore, but I'm not an idiot.” Dashiell sighed.
“I never said you were,” Erat said and Dashiell could hear the smile in his voice.
“So, do you think I could get one?”
“I'll see what I can do,” he answered, “but I don’t think it’ll be a problem.”
“Thank you! I really appreciate it.”
And then there was silence again. He liked Erat's company, even if he wasn't that keen on talking. He was lying on the bench, staring up at the ceiling. He hoped that he would be able to get a book. It would make the time go faster, and it could make him forget about his horrible situation. He still hated being trapped, but having guards close by made it easier to handle as at least he wasn’t alone. The food had gotten better too which he was extremely grateful for.
He was pulled from his thoughts when he heard someone walking down the corridor towards his cell.
“You have no business here,” Erat said coldly.
“I'm here to take over the watch,” Eudon stated and Dashiell felt the panic running through his body. “Princes’ order.” The panic was replaced by anger. The prince ordering Eudon to guard him basically meant that the prince ordered him to rape and beat him again. He looked around his cell for anything he could use to defend himself, he couldn’t let him touch him again. Dashiell’s whole body had begun to shake and the only thing he wanted was to get out of there.
“The Prince gave you the order?” Erat sneered, not really believing Eudon's words. Dashiell looked at him with big pleading eyes, don’t leave me alone with him.
“You would disobey a direct order from his Highness?” Eudon asked. He stepped in front of Dashiell's cell, looking at him with that disgusting look in his eyes.
Erat looked apologetically at Dashiell for a second before turning his attention back to Eudon.
“No,” he said as he walked away.
“No!” Dashiell yelled. “Don't leave! Erat please don’t leave!”
Eudon stayed in front of his cell, staring at him with hungry eyes. When he was sure Erat couldn't hear him, he stormed into the cell, grabbing Dashiell's shirt and slamming him against the wall. Dashiell tried to fight, but nothing worked. Eudon chained his wrists above his head and stepped back to look at him.
“Ratting me out was very stupid,” he said and punched him hard in the stomach. If he hadn’t been chained up, he would have fallen to the ground. The punch made it hard to breathe and he felt like he was about to throw up.
“I didn't say anything!” Dashiell cried breathlessly. He tried to straighten himself up a bit but the pain in his stomach wouldn’t allow it.
“Averet was really pissed at me.” Eudon said before punching him again, just a bit harder this time. Dashiell cried out, but Eudon kept talking. “I, of course, told him that you were spreading your legs for me willingly,” another punch - “but he didn't believe me. I told him that you were a whore. You'd spread for anything, but he still called it rape.” Eudon wrapped his large hands around Dashiell’s throat and tightened his grip. Dashiell couldn’t breathe and he was beginning to feel lightheaded. “He ordered guards to stay with you, to make sure I wouldn't hurt you again.” Dashiell tried to kick and squirm away from him, but Eudon just kept choking him. “Even the prince got angry with me.” Dashiell didn't give a fuck about the Prince; it was his fault that Eudon was going to hurt him again.
Eudon finally let his hands drop and Dashiell gasped for air, trying to fill his lungs as much as possible. Before he could even begin to collect his thoughts, Eudon ripped his shirt open and pulled his pants down. No, not again. Dashiell began shaking, the tears threatening to run down his now pale cheeks again. Eudon fought to get his pants all the way off before throwing them across the room.
He tried to scream, but no one would hear him.
“Shut the fuck up!” Eudon yelled and hit him hard in the stomach. He tore his shirt to shreds and used it to gag him. “You are nothing but a disgusting whore, so shut up and take it!” Eudon turned him around and pressed his body hard against the cold stone wall. He kicked Dashiell’s feet apart and began to open his own pants. “You can't rape a fucking a slut. It's just a job to you. You spread your legs for everyone anyway.”
He tried to think about something else; a happy memory or even just a happy thought, but there was none. His mind was just blank. He pressed his head against the wall and squeezed his beautiful eyes shut, trying his hardest to stop crying. He felt Eudon’s hands on his slim hips and braced himself for the pain.
“Get the fuck away from him!” Averet yelled as he burst into the cell, Erat and the other guard close behind him. Dashiell hadn’t even heard them coming, but profound relief washed over him.
“Come on! He wants this.” Eudon growled as he grabbed Dashiell's dark hair and yanked his head back. “Isn't that right boy?”
“Step. Away. From. Him” Averet said his tone threatening.
Dashiell felt humiliated and exposed. He hated that so many people were seeing him like that, he could feel their gazes on him the whole time. He wanted to cover himself up, but he couldn't. Tears were running down his face and he couldn't stop them. Eudon just laughed and ran his thumb across Dashiell's cheek to wipe away the tears.
“Come on Captain, have some fun. You can fuck him too if you want… he likes it.”
“Grab him!” Averet commanded. Erat and the other guard took a strong hold on Eudon's arms and began pulling him out of the cell. Averet hurried over to Dashiell and began to free his wrists.
“You'll regret this Captain! I'll find a way to get my hands on that little whore again!” Eudon screamed as he was being pulled away down the corridor.
Averet got Dashiell free, wrapping his arms around his waist to keep him from falling. His whole body was shaking with fear and humiliation. The pain from the beating made it hard for him to walk and if it weren’t for Averet he would have crumpled to the floor as soon as he was freed.
“I'm so sorry,” Averet said softly. He helped Dashiell over to the bench and made him sit down before wrapping the thin blanket around his naked, bruised body. He kneeled down in front of him and tried to catch his eyes. “Dashiell, look at me,” he said, an edge of regret in his soft voice. “I'm so sorry.”
“Just leave me alone!” Dashiell cried. He laid down and turned his back against Averet. He didn't want to look at him, at he didn't want to hear him apologize. It was his fault. He was keeping him here.
“No, I'm not going anywhere.”
“Why?!” he cried, “why do you even fucking care! This is all your fault! You and your fucking Prince!”
“We never meant for you to get hurt,” Averet said, resting his hand on Dashiell’s shoulder.
“Then let me go,” he sobbed and turn around to look at him. “Please. You don't want me to get hurt, then let me go home!”
“I can't!” He could hear Averet’s voice that it was hurting him to say so. Dashiell knew that if he had a choice, Averet would let him go, but he didn’t care. He was angry and humiliated. He hated the whole world and everyone in it at this moment and he needed someone to take it out on.
“That makes you just as bad as Eudon! Why don't just rape me too? I'm just a whore, right? I'm used to it!” he wanted to stop crying but he couldn't. He couldn't take this anymore.
“Don't!” Averet said angrily. “Don't say that. I would never hurt you. I would never hurt anyone like that.”
“Then just kill me Averet. No one is missing me, and no one is looking for me! I will never work for the Prince so what's the point of keeping me, if you can’t use me?” A small part of him regretted saying that. He didn’t want to die, and he most definitely didn’t want Averet to kill him.
“Dashiell…” he began, but Dashiell interrupted him.
“Don't! Just leave me alone!” He turned towards the wall again.
“I'll be guarding you from now on. Me, Erat and Anselet.”
“Don't bother,” he whispered.
Averet didn't hear him. He walked out and locked the cell doors behind him.
