So far, despite the normal circumstances of the murder, disturbingly little evidence could be found at the scene. The body was first found by the victim’s fiancee a couple of weeks ago. He distinctly remembered the woman in question’s testimony because of her extremely melodramatic, but probably justified, demeanour at the time. Every other sentence was interrupted by a sob or hiccup, in which case she would have to pause for a minute and unleash a completely new flood of tears. Of course, due to her seemingly superfluous attitude and close relationship with the victim, she was the Inspector’s first suspect. But, alike all the other tight leads he had developed, it had resulted in a very quick dead end. As it turned out, the fiancee had an unbreakable alibi and admittedly, no valid motive- she was the apprentice to a renowned artist and the week before the day of his confirmed death, she had been accompanying them on a tour of the country, showcasing their art at multiple galleries. More specifically, during the particular time period of 12:00 to 3:00 when he had died, there was security footage of her wandering around the museum where the next event was being held, surrounded by a myriad of viable witnesses who would vouch for her. Their relationship had also been described by close friends as completely normal, with the usual petty arguments and more recently, stress of the upcoming wedding; but overcome with their obvious love and care for each other, which was apparently discussed at length between the couple and their friends since the engagement.
Her testimony stated that, while she was away on her established trip, her and the victim would regularly talk and see each other through any means necessary, whether it be a text, call, or even a surprise visit out to the exhibition. They had previously agreed upon these flexible terms when it was accepted that she would have to be travelling a lot. Not wanting for this to undeniably put a strain on their relationship, they had to make time for each other. She first became suspicious when he missed their evening call that they had decided for when the art gallery had ended. But a missed call wasn’t anything to become too upset about, so she waited for him to call her back. Although, once it had reached the same time on the next night and chats to her friends had furthered her worries of him not having spoken to anyone during that time, it became quite clear to her that he wasn’t going to. With a heavy heart, she explained the tense situation to her employer and took a leave of absence, effective immediately, to venture back home and check on her soon-to-be husband. However, the man she found unmoving, in an open house, sprawled across his bedroom floor, would from then on be labelled as her late fiance. Understandably, upon the gruesome sight of a dead body with multiple, fatal knife wounds in their chest and surrounded by blood, the fiancee screamed, alerting both the neighbours and people passing outside to her presence until one of them called the appropriate authorities.
