I felt my adrenaline throb harder than it has ever been in my life. Every step I took deeper within that cave, I felt myself get stronger, and more energized. I was gonna need it.
The descent wasn't the easiest thing in the world. It seemed like the creature made pitfalls and weird turns, but that didn't stop me. I'd use the sharp rocky edge to climb down. It hurt like hell, but I knew it would be worth it.
I have never felt so confident in my life before. I wasn't confident enough to do certain things for my "friends", I wasn't confident in school, hell I wasn't confident about going to this ruin in the first place.
But as I stumbled deeper and deeper, I felt like I was becoming a new person, ready to take on anything that the world was gonna throw at me, and trust me when I say that I was gonna throw back hard.
Eventually after what felt like days hiking down the worse path imaginable, I stumbled across a little intersection. It seemed like the creature went through a hallway. Thankfully, it was easy to tell where it went by the jagged rocks compared to the smooth hallway stone.
What led ahead was just straight. No turns or drops, just straight ahead.
Alex is down there, go get him.
I started to pick up my pace, jogging slowly through the tunnel and carefully watching my step. Eventually I started running a bit more and I came across another drop.
After climbing down the wall, I saw in the distance the unmistakable color of red.
He's there.
I started sprinting down the cave, and halfway through I realized how long it was. I didn't care though. I was gonna use everything in my power to make it to Alex in time. I wasn't gonna let myself take a second to breathe, because that could ultimately be the end of him.
"C'mon Anne, just a few more steps. You can make it!"
And make it I did. I stumbled out of the cave, feeling dizzy and gasping for breath. I looked forward and noticed that I was in a room filled with the glowing red symbols. In the middle of the room, I saw the creature, with Alex in hand. He's still alive, trying his best to kick the beast, but it seems like the creature was just taunting him, waiting to see what Alex would do next.
I looked over at the ground, and saw a rock. I don't think I need to explain what I did next with the rock.
The rock slapped against the back of the creature, and it turned halfway to see me looking up.
"Anne! What the hell are you doing?!" Alex said, shocked.
"I'm here to save you dummy!" I said, smirking.
"Ah, well I see by "save", you mean join me in death? Well I'm glad you're not gonna let me die alone!" He said cynically.
"I'm not letting you die, period!" I yelled at him, and gave him a look that shut him up.
The creature dropped Alex once again and I could hear a grunt from him.
"This creature really needs to let me know when it's gonna drop me.." he said
Classic Alex. I heard my thought chime
I lightly chuckled before looking back at the creature.
"If there's anyone you want to waste your time on trying to eat, you might as well waist your time on me!" I screamed.
The monster grunted lightly while growling.
"YEAH I SAID THAT. SO GO AHEAD. LEAVE ALEX ALONE AND TRY TO GET ME!" I yelled.
I could feel the emotion leaking out of me once again, tears streaming down my face, but I stood firmly. I kept glaring at the creature with the same hateful stare I used to get. It's about time I used it on someone-er, rather something else.
The creature roared, causing some rocks to fall from the ceiling, and it began to charge at me. I knew what to expect though, and when the creature was about to pounce down, I quickly jumped out of the way, causing it to crash in the wall.
I quickly got to my feel and brandished my flashlight in front of the creature. As soon as it turned around and stared at me, I beamed him with the light. The creature screeched in pain, and it stumbled back into the wall and fell, like it did back then.
I looked over at Alex and smirked.
"I told you I got this!" I giggled, seeing the expression of pure terror on his face.
"Pay attention!" He screamed, pointing forwards.
Instinctively, I jumped to the side, and it seemed to have saved my life, as the creature used its claws to swipe down where I was moments ago. I looked up and saw that the creature was bleeding from its eyes again, and it was not happy. It screeched again, but this time, it actually managed to disorient me, giving it the advantage.
It hit me with the same swipe it did back near the pipe, and I went crashing into the wall. I lost my breath, and I was trying desperately to breathe again. When I finally looked up, the creature was right in front of me, and it was about to claw at me again.
Oh shi-
I covered my face, waiting to feel myself get eviscerated, but it never happened. I looked up and saw the creature screaming in pain. I looked down near it's leg and saw Alex stabbing it with a sharp piece of rock that fell.
"Don't think you can get all the glory here!" He shouted, smirking at the end.
I wasted no time in getting up and grabbing a similar sharp piece of rock and stabbing its other leg. The creature convulsed, which caused us to fly away from him. Alex stared screaming from the other end, and when I looked up at him, I saw that his leg was all bloody.
"Bloody hell! I can't feel my leg!!" He screamed in pain.
It looked like he cut it up pretty bad when he was kicked away, and it didn't look like it felt good for his end.
At that moment, a switch in me flipped. Seeing Alex get injured from this creature made my blood boil and I made a quick promise to myself that this creature was gonna experience hell in the worst way imaginable.
I quickly got back to my feet, and before the creature could reach me, I flashed his eyes quickly with the light, which caused him to spiral into the wall yet again.
I noticed multiple rocks fall on top of it, and when I looked up, I saw three massive spiky rocks trembling from the creature crashing, and my mind chimed in at this revelation.
You know what to do.
I chucked another rock at the creature, getting it's attention, and started waving my arms.
"Come get me you damn thing!"
The creature used no time in hesitating, pushing itself off the wall as quickly as it could. I quickly side stepped away from the monster and headed for the spiky ceiling.
The creature roared once again, and made another attempt to charge at me. I quickly flashed it, and stepped away. It stood no chance getting me blind, and it spiraled once again to the wall. The rocks above started cracking, but none fell.
One more time Anne. You got this.
The creature suddenly roared once more, but as it did, the red lit room slowly went dark. The creature was somehow deactivating the lights.
And now I was the blind one.
I hesitated my steps for a moment before hearing the fast steps of the creature. I managed to dodge out of the way before it swiped down again and I used this time to blind it. Took me a second to see the creature, but when I did, I blinded it quickly.
When it was distracted on trying to see again, I quickly scanned the room, and found the spiky rocks in the corner, and from the looks of it, they're about to fall.
Bingo
The creature roared as loud as it could disorienting me again, and getting ready to charge up its run to me. I turned off the flashlight, having a mental picture of where to go in the dark.
You got this Anne. Breathe. Everything is gonna be okay.
As soon as I heard the creature run, I started running as fast as I could. The creature was slowly catching up over time, and I thought I wasn't gonna make it, but the walls were just close enough.
As soon as I felt the creature within reach of me, I quickly jumped to the right, hitting the wall slightly. The creature was too fast to stop, and slammed into the wall at high speed.
I couldn't see anything that happened in the next few seconds, but all I heard was the rocks cracking again, and three impale sounds coming from the creature's direction. It gave one last mini screeched, before giving its final breath.
…
The lights eventually turned on again and I saw the creature lying on the ground, motionless. Three rocks impaled him, one in the lower back, one in the shoulder and one right in the head. It's red eyes no longer glowing and more blood coming from them. It was over.
Have fun in hell.
I looked over at Alex, who was just staring in awe, both at me, and the creature's corpse.
"Anne…..I think I'm in love with you.." he said, while smirking.
I giggled at the comment.
"You're welcome by the way."
I walked over at Alex and keeled down next to him.
"Can you walk..?" I asked concerned.
"Does it look like it? My leg looks like a messy cherry pie!" He laughed.
"That won't stop me from helping you get out of here." I stated.
I lifted his arm around my neck, and used my body strength to slowly ease him up. When he was on his feet, he didn't put all of his pressure on me.
"Thank you Anne...how am I ever suppose to repay you?" Alex asked, genuine.
"You don't. You already did so much for me. It's the least I can do." I said.
"How are we suppose to get out now?" Alex said.
"There's a hallway I saw nearby. We can take that back up to the pipe." I told him.
"Hallelujah." He said, smirking.
We walked by the dead corpse of the creature, its eye's now fully closed, and its blood spilled everywhere.
"It got that coming." Alex said.
Yes it did.
I lost myself in my thoughts for a second, listening to what my mind had to say, and for once, it was positive. No more hate. No more discouragement, no paranoia. Just positivity for once.
Hey Anne?
"Yeah" I asked but in my mind.
My mind took a second to reply back, but what I heard will forever stay with me.
I am very proud of you. You are so brave and fearless. You did so much that I thought you could never do..and I'm sorry for not believing in you back then. But I want you to know that I'll now be more supportive for you, even if it'll be hard.
"...thank you."
…
I love you Anne. Don't forget that.
