Cathelyn's P.O.V
Monday morning came I have a morning class today. I grab my keys in the desk and my jacket from the sofa heading to my Camry.
It's not in my element to be late even sometimes I get lack of sleep.
I hurriedly went in to the kitchen lab and wore my jacket with a Michelin star logo.
My students came inside looking fascinated of what I wore.
Having this, is really a prestige and I must say it is a pride for us Chefs having awarded with Michelin star is like winning an Oscars.
One of my female student asked admiringly, "Chef. how many years were you able to get your first star?"
I smiled and answered her swiftly "I got mine first for about 3 years working in Canada which is my first job.
" If I may ask chef how old are you? They shyly asked.
"Well am 28 y/o I got my first Michelin star at the age of 23 y/o. And the rest just followed when I ventured my career here in New York and in New Jersey". I replied.
"Geez we still have a long way to go am just 17 y/o." one of my male students said while scratching the back of his head.
I smiled, and started the demo kitchen...
My class ended smoothly. And as part of my daily schedule I prepared myself to go straight to the bistro.
Am quite jolly today... Maybe because of my students.
While driving, an idea came to me... To take full time in teaching. My four hours class gives me same amount of salary as to my 8 hours shift in the bistro. Academe pays generously since they pay for the prestige of my title.
Fidgeting my fingers in steering wheel while I hum the song in my radio...
As I arrived. I saw Patricia ogling inside the kitchen looking for me.
"Finally, you're here" she said sighing.
"Yeah my shift starts in 30 mins." I guess am not late". I told her with my brows knitting.
"Well...its...." she nervously uttering nothing.
"What is it Patricia?" I asked....
"Uhmm... the thing is... Mr. hot billionaire guitarist is here looking for you since this we opened... It's about 3 hours ago and he is still here" ... Patricia send with a concerned look.
I furrowed my brows and still digesting what she just mentioned.. Why would this annoying guy look for me? What he is up to? I ask in the back of my mind...
"Alright, may I ask if he ordered anything since he entered the bistro?" I asked.
One of my crew answered "Chef he requested for the crab cake and salad you served him last time he was here."
"Oh shoot! maybe he has a complaint again" putting my palm on my face.
I fixed myself and went inside the dining hall to face this annoying billionaire guy...
Bearing a fake smile I greeted him "Hi Mr. Stevenson I believe you are waiting for me." I said.
"Yes" he simply answered with his famous annoying smirk.
Please have a seat Ms...? Cathelyn Hart I cut him off immediately.
"No sir" I swiftly, declined his request. "We are not allowed to mingle with our customers during work hours. It's very unethical you see." My eyes now meeting his.
"Well I guess it is more unethical that I have waited for you for a long period just to be declined outright and treated this way."He fired back with a sarcastic look.
I cleared my throat a bit feeling more annoyed in his presence." I honestly don't know why you have waited for me but if you have a complaint regarding your food you could've ask one of my crew to address your concerns." I said angrily starting to loose my patience.
"Do you think that am that stupid to wait for you just to complain about my food?" He laughs.
"What is it then?" I asked my arms now across my chest with one eyebrow up.
"I..." he run his fingers to his hair... Smirking.
"I want to reserve again next Friday but I want more exquisite meal this time." He stated.
"If that's the case the best person to talk about this is Patricia and not me."I waive my hand and gestured Patricia to come beside me.
"Patricia", I said "Mr. Stevenson here wants to make a reservation next Friday"
"Alright any request regarding this reservation?" Patricia facing the arrogant man in front of us.
I butted in, and said "I will submit full course meal choices and please just notify Patricia here what would be your preference." After I've spoken I turned my back to him and Patricia.
He narrowed his eyes when I butted in I feel his dark aura. But me being stubborn, didn't feel intimidated by his angst.
Patricia, walked back inside the kitchen looking for me.
" Chef?! The guy waited for you for three hours yet you didn't entertain him well. What's happening to you?" She protested.
"You see I don't know the reason why he had to wait for me just to tell me he wants to reserve a table next Friday." I quipped.
"I think it's not my job to take reservations in the first place... I added looking at her straight in her eyes.
I took my planner from the kitchen table and storm outside the kitchen leaving the crew and Patricia behind.
Robert's.P.O.V
After the Saturday gig my thoughts are still with the chef/singer forgot her name..... bit frustrated that I was not able to see after our last set.
I decided to drop by the bistro where she works... I came in earlier hoping she is around...
I was welcomed by the waiter and lead me to the table near the window. I immediately asked if the chef is around. the waiter then checked with some lady from the counter about my inquiry.
The lady hurriedly followed me on my table.
"Good Morning Mr. Stevenson", she greeted me with a bright smile.
"Am Patricia the banquet head of the bistro." she introduced herself offering a hand shake.
I received her hand and make a quick shake.
"I believe you are looking for Chef Cathelyn," she inquired.
"Yes well is she around?" I asked.
"Unfortunately she is not yet around her shifts starts mid lunch I don't think she'll arrive earlier then."she quickly respond.
" Alright I guess I'll just wait then." I replied
"Si...sirr... her shift will start 3 hours from now you sure you'll wait for her?!! She then looked very clueless.
" Yeah am sure! I'll just order the same salad that was served to me the last time I came here.
"Oh ok we'll just prepare your order and get back to you."She returned back to her station giving my order inside the kitchen...
"Sir here is your crab cake with sharp and sweet salad." the waiter said placing the plate in my table. As I expected the taste is impeccable...
It is almost 3 hours passed still no sign of the chef/singer I wanted to see today... The lady Patricia worriedly returning to my table every hour since she wasn't able to contact the chef.
Exactly 1:00pm I saw Patricia ran to one of the rooms behind the counter. She literally pushed the chef out of the room to see me.
She greeted me "Hi Mr. Stevenson I believe you are waiting for me." she said.
I answered her with a "Yes" then smirked thinking what to say next...
Please have a seat Ms...? Cathelyn Hart she cut me off. And swiftly declined my request.
"We are not allowed to mingle with our customers during work hours." she uttered staring at me in the eyes... It's very unethical you see." she added.
That's not the reply I expected. But I have to reply authoritatively not to be caught off guard. I licked the bottom of my lips before I spoke. "Well I guess it is more unethical that I have waited for you for a long period just to be declined outright and treated this way."
She cleared her throat seeing her already annoyed.
"She angrily almost shouted" I honestly don't know why you have waited for me but if you have a complaint regarding your food you could've ask one of my crew to address your concerns."
I was taken a back. But I still stood my ground she is testing my patience... I already forgot why I wanted to see her.
Do you think that am that stupid to wait for you just to complain about my food?" I fired back with a small evil laugh.
"What is it then?" she asked wrapping her arms across her chest.
"I..." he run my fingers to my hair... Smiling.
"I want to reserve again next Friday but I want more exquisite meal this time." I stated.
She now looks more infuriated hearing my stupid alibi. "What are you thinking Robert?"
"If that's the case the best person to talk about this is Patricia and not me." She said waiving her hand signalling Patricia to come to me.
"Patricia", she said "Mr. Stevenson here wants to make a reservation next Friday"
"Alright" Patricia replied courteously. "Any request regarding this reservation?" She added. But before I could replied she butted in "I will submit full course meal choices and please just notify Patricia here what would be your preference." She turned her back to me and Patricia.
Patricia loomed at me apologetically as she went to follow Cathelyn...
I was left alone in my table... I gather myself up and asked for the bill and left the bistro...
