"Tell him what you told us, Calissa."
Probing the knife into Jayden's arm, the henchman gestured for a beautiful young lady about the same age as Jayden, to recount what she saw.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry for bringing you into this." She said, a little panicked, as she apologized to Jayden behind the large henchman.
"Just say it!"
She was shoved forward by another man, equally as burly as the previous.
"I saw..." She stuttered as she stumbled forward, "I saw you lighting the fire in the kale filled fields that night."
"What?" Jayden shouted. "I don't know what you are talking about?"
"A little god of death, this one." Christina said, as she stepped into the light, so that Jayden could see her a little better. "He has killed more people in one night than I did in my entire career."
"WHAT? No!" Jayden screamed, confused. "I never killed anyone?"
Christina was unimpressed. She had to meet Varier's demands, and she don't got a lot of time left to waste.
"Well, right now the question is how you did it. And I guess we'll just have to find that out the hard way."

The boss of the Eastercoast Fishermen sat down on the boat as he sailed them out to sea. The island was no more than a couple miles offshore, and a good part of the hour in journey should get them there.
"When my father first showed me how to sail a boat like this. I was just half your age." He said to Alex, who was trying to enjoy the view. "We look after our own out here, and a young man like you could have a good future on the high seas."
"No thanks, Raike." Alex said. He looked at Raike, who was quite handsome for a man in his forties. He didn't look overly muscular, but certainly had a firm build. Alex studied his expression as he threw down his offer. His eyes looked young for his face, and didn't express any signs of anger.
"Heh." He chuckled. "You're just like Karl."
"Ray? Was you? Raike?" Alex, said a little stunned.
"That's what he called me, while he used to work with us. He was my vice." He said, looking into the seas, with a gentle smile. "That was until he took a third of my men and left. Started messing with my business, and thinking his the man of the house now."
"Yep." Alex said, a little ashamed. "My brother can be an asshole sometimes."
"No, hahaha." Raike laughed. "I gave him the men."
He paused to savour the light saltiness of the ocean's breeze.
'"After all." He, stared at Alex. "I wanted him to be happy."
Alex studied his expression and thought for a moment. He recalled how Karl would get so happy talking about Ray. Then a realisation dawned upon him.
"Fuck!" Alex shouted. "You were twice his age!"
Raike smirked a little, then his expression turned serious.
"He knows I will always help him, despite the things he did to my trades. Made me lose thousands of dollars. That's why he came to me when he found out about Varier."
"Vanessa? That woman with half her head in the clouds?"
"Listen to me, Alex. The things that have happened since you came to the east coast, and even many stuff before that, were not out of chance, or fate. If one person is to blame. It's that lady who's been taking over your father, and the things she'd been plotting behind your back."
"Shit." Alex spat into the sea. "And how do I know you're not just saying that to trick me?"
"Because, what you witnessed that night with Jayden, was also witnessed by another survivor of the fire. Varier found out about her, and is working closely with her to determine why what happened, did happen." He explained. "And she is coming very close to a truth, that none of us can fully understand or is even aware of. Whatever you find out about Jayden in the next few days. My advice is to make sure you are there for him."
"Yeah thanks alot. Raike. Cause you weren't the one that sent those men that kidnapped us in the first place hey?"
Raike, laughed.
"We needed, Varier's resources. So we need to make her think everything went according to plan. She's a very careful and cunning woman. We are very lucky to have found a hole in her plans. Once she has helped us uncover the full extent of Jayden's abilities, we will take action. Just sit tightly until then."
CHAPTER END
XXX
The man felt his tie pulled forward by the young man before him.
"Come on Ray." Karl said. "My friend's all did it when they were 16. I turned 18 last month, and I'm still fresh as a spring chicken when it comes to these things."
"Ahem." Raike adjusted his shirt. "What about the people that messed with my shipment last week?"
"I fucked them up real good for you Raike." Karl said as he leaned in closer. "You said you were gonna give me a share of your reward."
"You're just drunk." Raike said as he pushed Karl back.
"It want it so..." Karl said as he lept back up. "Bad."
And tried to pounce on top of his boss, who smacked him in the head, knocking him out, from the impact as well as his blood alcohol content.
Raike heaved him onto the bed. And smiled at the snoring Karl.
"Time for you to get some sleep." He said as he walked out. Shutting the door behind him.
