Avalon Springs 28387

The Man from Texas

The Man from Texas

Jun 08, 2020

Berk was a mountain of a man. He wore blue jeans, black leather jacket, white shirt, black helmet, thick black gloves. He smelled of sweat and fast food grease. He pushed the Harley-Davidson past 90 mph on the winding mountain railroads of Western North Carolina.

Berk had a large sun tattoo on the left side of his neck. The sun was smoking a cigar, wearing sunglasses, and wearing a proud cowboy hat.

Berk had two revolvers strapped to his sides underneath the black jacket. His long brown beard and long brown hair blew wildly in the wind. Berk appeared to be a man who would draw police attention because of his size and appearance, and simultaneously motivate police to avoid him because of his size and appearance.

Berk had been riding the Harley for the past twenty-seven hours. Stopping for gas, restrooms, and quick bites of food. But he did not sleep. Berk knew he did not have time to sleep.

Berk was headed to central North Carolina. Specifically, Avalon Springs. Berk did not fully understand what was happening. But he knew one thing for certain: Avalon Springs did not exist. Although most of the world believed Avalon Springs was a real town, he knew something sinister must be at work there. What power could convince the entire planet a town exists when a mere 48 hours earlier Avalon Springs did not exist?

Before Berk left Dallas Texas he kissed both his sons on the forehead, gave his wife a hug and a long kiss. Told his family he loved them. Berk was a big man and he'd seen a lot of shit in his days, but he didn't expect to return from Avalon Springs. And he also knew that no matter what happened his wife and his sons would be safe. Because he was going to shut down whatever was happening in Avalon Springs. Even if it cost his own life.

Berk justified many of the terrible things that he had done in his life because his sons were not going to turn out like he did. Berk could justify many of the things he had done in his life because his wife was beautiful, amazing, more than he could've ever wished for. They represented his undeserved rewards for his life. A redemption. And there was no way Berk was going to sit idly by in Texas while the cancer spreading out of Avalon Springs destroyed the world.

Whatever was happening in Avalon Springs… Berk was going to put a stop to it. At all costs.
