When fairies are first built, their hearts are very weak. That’s just how young fairy hearts are. One mean word from a careless stranger could kill these young hearts. These fragile hearts happen to be a precious ingredient for a fascinating dish called the fountain of youth, which is rumored to be able to repair the consumer’s rotting heart when prepared right. A rotting heart is feared by many because when it isn’t properly attended to, it will surely fall to Hell.
Most of the young fairies are hidden away until their hearts mature because they usually do not survive when they are not. Not many fairies have the kind of appearance that shows the state of their hearts, so it can be rather difficult for strangers to realize that they are gradually becoming murderers while simply conversing with the young ones in a somewhat aggressive and careless manner. The strangers who unexpectedly became murderers don’t usually take the bodies of the dead young fairies, so these fairies can be recycled. The blood farmers, however, take young fairies and harvest their blood. When the blood dries up, they take their hearts.
