The Villian's Younger Brother

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Jun 11, 2020

[As I expected. Here really is the best spot for napping. The sun is just right and the cool breeze balances everything out. Next time I can try napping under the tree behind me, it doesn't sound too bad.]

As my break was coming to an end, I wanted to spend the last few hours of free time to find the perfect sleeping spot. I knew that the road ahead of me would be difficult. Because of my knowledge through reading hundreds of fantasy novels I knew very well that changing the plot was a risky thing to do. I might attract unwanted attention and be harmed or I might discover some sort of ancient secret and be dragged around like a protagonist. That was the last thing I wanted to do. All I need to do is to help my brother and father, I will do my absolute best to ignore the hero...

Due to my intense pondering my nap time was reduced. I woke up from my short nap and yawned. My body was still tired from not moving for so long so I wanted to take a stretch. Before I could do that however I felt a shadow lining over me. My harmless smile activated on its own once I saw the boy before me. It was my brother.

"Hello brother"

"...Ha...you really are shameless, you go begging to father to never see me again and when I come to you you completely change your attitude!"

Huh..? What?? I think he was misunderstanding something. I felt tired just thinking about explaining it to him. No he probably won't even believe me if I told him the truth...Abelardo probably didn't tell him anything either...sigh

"Brother...but you told me not to show up I'm front of your door anymore, last time you looked so pale so I was scared of worsening your health."

"Look at you, just pretending to be an angel in front of others in order to gain sympathy."

As always the stubborn Ian wasn't as easy to please as Abelardo. But try harder kid!!! I'm like 30 years old mentally I won't fall!

"Brother if you want me to visit you again I will! No I will be glad to!"

"...When have I ever told you I allow you to?"

"I'll come tomorrow brother so wait for me!"

I let go of my blanket and grab Ian's wrist with both my hands showing off my bandaged left hand.

It was a shameless act done by me secretly but I didn't care. I hoped that Ian would soften up after seeing his injured brother.

However Ian's stubbornness was harder than obsidian. He tugged his sleeve away from me and gave me an icy glare, then without saying anything else left the garden. Mary who witnessed the entire scene was angered.

[While I may be biased due to serving the young master since his birth, but young master Ian was being too unreasonable. The child was more like the younger sibling...]

Of course she would never dare say such things out loud, however looking at the young master's calm expression she couldn't help but think that.

"Mary let's go back, help me pick out some tea leaves that help with sleep please."

Mary knew what he meant. He was going to visit his father again.

At such a young age, he already had more generosity than people who lived a long life. She felt truly lucky to find such a pleasant, kind and thoughtful young master on her first try in job hunting.

-

The next day I showed up in front of Ian's door again. My vacation was over so my working shifts started again. Ian was still constantly avoiding me, he started his lessons again in order to stay away. It was a good sign for me, it meant that Ian was stable enough to come out. It was harder to find him though and I ran around the mansion trying to find where he was. A few newbie servants who were tricked by my child like appearance gave me information on Ian's whereabouts. I roughly understood Ian's hectic schedule. This afternoon he would have swordsmanship class.

Ian was in the training grounds today with his tutor. Even though his build was considerably small compared to the rest of the knights, his movements were fast and graceful. He indeed deserved some praise, too bad he was outshined by the hero.

"Brother hello!"

Ian turned his head after hearing a familiar voice. It was his younger brother Aden, the annoying brat just wouldn't leave him alone.

"Get out."

"Brother can I watch you today? I want to see brother's sword fighting!"

"Oh my is this your younger brother Ian?"

"Sir Duncan it seems my brother has disturbed my training session. Please forgive me."

Ian bowed respectively. I had a strong prediction that he would try to shame me in the next line.

"Aden it's rude of you as a noble to barge into class like this. Unlike you I have a strict schedule and responsibilities."

The kid was boasting. The knights looked a little worried, some looked annoyed. Since they hadn't seen the young master Aden before and only heard rumors, they expected him to cry or lash out after hearing such harsh words.

"Of course! I'll never be as good as brother so I will cheer you on!"

Contrary to their expectations, Aden replied in such a gentle tone that they were left dumbfounded. It was like a little angel descended from the heavens. They were so shocked that their hearts started thumping. How could one person be so adorable? Not only was his appearance perfect, the little boy's cute smile and beautiful voice melted their souls.

"Brother is hardworking and responsible unlike me. So I look up to you really much, I want to quickly grow up and help my you the best I can."

Such kindness!! Who would have knew the second young master was this angelic? At this point all the knights present had fallen for Aden's charms. Though he didn't even know. He was just trying to please Ian.

Ian didn't know how to answer. He didn't know what to say after this. He had expected Aden to cry like usual, it gave him a pleasant feeling seeing his stupid brother shaming himself. It helped fill the loneliness and resentment in his heart seeing the family's most loved laughed at. Now he felt complicated, he wasn't angry that Aden didn't cry but it wasn't a comfortable feeling either. Was it guilt? Impossible. He wouldn't have such feelings towards his foolish brother.

"Mr Duncan is it ok if I stay to watch?"

"Hehe your a good little kid aren't cha? Ian you never told me your brother was so cute!"

There it was again. Aden has charmed yet another person. He could take anything away from him without even trying, just because of his face...

"Mr Duncan how is my brother as a student?"

"Ian? Well he's one of my best students of course! He practices all the moves I teach him with diligence and does so for every other class. He'll be a fine ruler in the future."

"I know right? My brother is the best as I thought."

Aden walked up towards Ian and watched him with admiration. Had his brother gone mad? Ian felt a little itchy with all the compliments he was getting. This was what he had wanted for a long time but he received too much at once and it became overkill. His ears flushed red for a moment before quickly regaining his firm posture. He tried glaring at Aden but his lips were too twitchy to have its usual menace.

The "annoying and despicable" youngest brother of the Villian, Aden Silvermere. That's what the novel described him as, but I felt a little pity for him. Aden was always lonely and was never seen as something other than a beautiful object. He who resembled his deceased mother was always kept away from people by his obsessive father. And he was a laughing stock for his brother Ian since he was on the feminine side. He later becomes a minor obstacle and is killed off within the middle of the story. Somehow, I've become this Aden Silvermere.
