In the corner of his eyes Shiki could see the waiter coming towards them, and took his feet down from the chair. Caiden must have seen him coming too, because he jumped down from the table and sat on the chair instead. The waiter, a young man, didn’t look too happy when he came over to them, but didn’t say anything about it. He simply turned to the girls of the group, as if he wished that he could pretend that the annoying guys weren’t there.
“Are you ready to order?”
Lillian clapped her hands once, exactly like some teachers would do to get their attention, and everyone went silent. She was the kind of person everyone respected, and Shiki could see why. Lillian was nice and caring, she didn’t judge others nor was she afraid of anyone.
“Time to order”, she simply said.
As she already seemed to know what she wanted, she turned to the server and talked to him. Those who hadn’t made up their minds about what they wanted, hurried to look at the menu for what they wanted to order. Soon the poor waiter had managed to get all ten orders.
“How come that you came here to study? Aren’t there any nice theatre schools in London? I’ve been there, seen Big Ben and stuff.”
Shiki could hear Caspian talking to Caiden, and he understood him. It must be more fun trying to talk to Caiden, than the twins that Caspian sat next to. Corey and Shaun seemed deep in conversation about something which seemed totally incomprehensive to Shiki, and it probably was to Caspian too. Shiki cut up another piece of his pizza while he listened to what Caiden and Caspian talked about. Caiden looked over to the dark haired Caspian and seemed to swallow what he had in his mouth. A lot fresher than some others who talked with food in their mouth and showed the whole world what they were eating.
“Yes, there are very nice schools in London, but we wanted to see the world.”
“What are your parents working with?” Caspian asked next.
Shiki could see that Caiden’s smile had disappeared when he looked up, and his eyes seemed to be looking for Pauline, but the girls were deep in their conversation. Caiden’s green eyes gazed back to Caspian and there was a little smile on his lips. Caspian however didn’t seem to notice the change in Caiden’s mood, but somehow it made Shiki worry. Usually Shiki wouldn’t care about it, but there was something about Caiden that told him that something wasn’t right. He didn’t want to ask him about it, but decided to save him from more questions regarding his family.
“Hey Cai, I heard you’re playing some instrument, huh? Which bands do you like?” Shiki asked before he even got to answer Caspian’s question.
“Keyboard. Rise Against are the best.” Caiden almost looked relieved for a short moment when their eyes met. “You?”
“Dir en grey. And just to brag, I can play electric guitar.”
