“—hey? Jas—”
he didn’t answer me.
“Earth to fucking Jasper!”
He popped back into his senses.
“Huh? Sorry I zoned out. What did you say?”
he sounded a bit unhappy.
“I asked what happened after I went to bed…”
What was he thinking about with that look on his face, he looked lost. When our eyes met he looked as though he realized something, and smiled back at me.
“After you went to--? Oh! Nothing, the movie was boring, so I put you in my bed and took refuge on the sofa.”
Part of me felt like he had left something out, but he didn’t tell me for a reason, so I left it alone. He finished making breakfast and we ate together laughing and joking, when we had finished, I cleaned up the dishes and grabbed some clothes that I had brought over just in case I had fallen asleep on a school night.
“It was a smart idea to bring these over.”
I was pleased that they came in handy.
“Yeah, yeah you’re prepared so what? You still have a toothbrush here too.”
Jas pretended to be annoyed but he liked the fact that I left stuff here so we could hang out without worrying about me needing to get ready for classes the next day.
“So, what do you do with my toothbrush when you bring women home?”
I was curious to see what excuse he gave them. But he gave me the look he always had when I brought up his womanizing, the only problem was, I couldn’t put an emotion to that look.
“I don’t do anything with your stuff because I don’t bring women here.”
He didn’t even miss a beat answering my questions, even with that look on his face.
“Really?! Where do you go then?!”
“Either a Hotel or their place, I don’t like women knowing where I live. I’m worried they’d drop by whenever they wanted.”
He said this so indifferently. I was utterly shocked! Even his face became indifferent. How could my best friend be so insensitive?!
“What a vulgar thing to do! Women are just playthings to you, aren’t they?!”
His words weren’t pointed towards me, but I still felt offended for my fellow gender siblings.
“You wouldn’t understand miss never been kissed.”
Low blow Jasper, low blow.
“I’d rather be miss never been kissed than be Mr. kissed everyone.”
He hates when I call him that, but I don’t like when he brings up the fact that I’ve never been kissed either. Growing up, guys never paid more attention to me than being a friend or a wingman, I had always assumed it’s because my eyes freaked people out. I’ve always been asked if I wore contacts for attention but that wasn’t the case, and when people found out that I was considered to have a mutation they began to act put off.
One guy showed interest in me in High School, my second year in he invited me to karaoke, but he was kind of pushy about things and Jas ended kicking the door down and giving him a solid spartan kick to the face. I never spoke to that guy again.
Oh well, such trivial things don’t bother me because I have goals to achieve first.
After I finished showering and getting ready Jas and I walked to class together it was a great pastime.
“So uh, everyone wants to meet up after finals are over and drink together. Do you want to go?”
Jas broke the monotonous small talk.
“Yeah sounds great! I miss everyone!”
I was excited to see our friends again, but it was still four months away.
“Alright I’ll let everyone know and we can all work out the details. This is my building so hurry and get to class.”
Jasper patted my head and turned to walk off. After watching him enter the building I went to class and jumped into my school routine.
