“…yo…Nyo, wake up, we’re leaving soon.” “Hnnn…Fenir?” “No sleepy head I’m Ukia.” “Aah…what!?” Bewildered I jumped up from my bedroll only to see that the sun was already starting to rise. “Weren’t we supposed to leave before sunrise?” I asked Ukia. “Well yes, but Dayxo said it would be fine to let you sleep a little longer,” she answered, “gather your belongings we’re getting ready to leave.” I quickly backed up my bag and headed to the cave entrance where everyone was already gathered.
“Look who we have here, finally decided to show up huh.” Raok. That dude’s really starting to get on my nerves. “Oh shut up Raok, you’ve also just barely finished packing.” Katelyn. “You…ugh.” Then he walked off. “Don’t mind him he’ll turn around soon,” she smiled. I rolled my eyes, of course he will. “Is everyone ready to go?” Dayxo asked us. After getting an affirmation from everyone we headed out into the forest.
After a while of walking, some people decided that starting a conversation would be a fun idea. “So what did you do for a living?” Ukia asked me. “Well I used to go hunting with my family, so I was a hunter I guess. What about you guys?” “I’m the priest of our team, you already know what Semion is, Katelyn is our mage, Dayxo is, other than our leader, also a swordsman and Raok, well he used to be a thief, so he’s probably our stealth type. I’m not really sure since he just does whatever he wants.”
“Hey, I was wondering, you’ve lived in this forest all your life right?” Katelyn suddenly asked. “Yes?” “Then do you know about the ranks, different types of power and skill and how our country functions and all that stuff?” Yes, I do, in fact my rank in the adventurers guild is definitely higher than yours, I’m also famous for killing everything and oh I’m a half demon. You know those creatures whom everyone, including myself, hates and which are currently preparing for a war with the human race. “Uuhhmm, I know a bit.” Like I’m ever going to tell them those things.
“Do you want us to explain some stuff in case you do decide to go with us after this week.” That might be a good idea, at least I wouldn’t have to pretend to know absolutely nothing anymore. “I would like that” “Great, Dayxo’s probably the best at explaining this stuff, so just walk over to him,” she winked at me and pushed me forward. “Uhh…okay?...”
“Hi Nyo do you need something?” “I…uhmm…I was wondering if you would explain some things about the outside world.” “Oh you mean like the ranks and history of our kingdom and the different races?” “Uhh yea I guess.” “Prepare yourself lad, you’ll be listening to him for the next few hours,” Semion said with a sly grin and walked over to where Katelyn was walking. Wait did those two plan something. What have I gotten myself into.
“Okay let’s start of with the ranks of the adventurers guild, they’re based on the strength of your team and the amount you’ve contributed. Going from copper to bronze to silver to gold to black gold to ruby to platinum. Our group is currently at the gold rank in terms of strength but almost at black gold in terms of contribution.” Hah I’d be at least ruby in terms of strength but I hardly take on any missions so my contribution is probably around silver or barely at gold, which means overall I’d be of the black gold rank. I guess they’ve changed a bit since the last time I was there.
“Do you understand?” I nodded. “Then we’ll talk about the history next. So we’re currently in the Eldenwood forest, which is one of the most dangerous forests in our nation. If we head east we should get to Eralo, the nearest city that has a guild. Our current ruler, king Abelot the 3rd, resides in the capital Vobus. He became king after……” Wow I never thought anyone could keep talking about the same subject for this long. “I…uhm…that’s enough historical information, thank you.”
“Ah alright, if you ever want to know more just ask me. Then we’ll move on to races.” “Can you just tell me the basic and most important things?” “Ah sorry, of course. So currently There are 6 races in this world, humans, elves, dwarves, fairies, demons and beast men. The elves and fairies live in the forest next to our country which is four times as big as our entire country. We have a relatively good relationship with them. The beastmen and dwarves live together in a country to the north of us. Our relationship with them is alright. The demons are all over the place and there normally isn’t really a settlement however, currently a lot of them have been sighted near an isolated plain far to the west. Most of the races are afraid they're preparing for a war, which could be why they decided to settle down, but no one knows for sure.” “I understand.” At least the humans are aware there might be danger coming. I just hope they’ll be prepared well enough to face them when the time comes.
