Flashforward, June 2, 2009.
We snuck from bathroom to bathroom and corner to corner until the Gate entrance closed. We were surprised we hadn't gotten caught; even Journey who loves to strategize was surprised.
It was strange that no one found us. We ended up with a tomb Stone behind some kind of mansion. We were testing to see if our luck would last.
"So far so good", I whispered.
It was extremely eerie that security walked by and we just ducked our heads to avoid being seen. we had for about an hour and by that time it was night time. A light was flashed on us by seemingly a single guard. We immediately put our hands up and surrendered without a fight. My heart was pounding like the bass drum in marching band.
Journey came close to my ear, "Looks like we're going to find something interesting castor, let's play along."
The security gestured with two fingers for us to start walking.
We began walking and I felt like making a joke to ease the situation, "Are we being taken to a mysterious dungeon?"
All three of us laughed hysterically and continued. Little did I know it was closest to the truth. It was odd but through the whole process, they never bothered to handcuff or tie us expecting us to be obedient. After walking east for about 45 minutes and we were quite the distance away from the entrance. We passed multiple buildings like houses, stores, and parks.
We noticed an expensive looking elevator was our stop. As we entered I noticed there was a stainless-steel interior with mirrors all around. There was exquisite red carpet on the ground. On the wall next to the elevator door there was a panel that had buttons. One said up and the other said down.
Before the security guard pressed the button, two more followed in behind us. Then as he pressed the button each one of them gave each other a look that was either something bad or necessary. I was confused. The elevator took us down quite a few flights.
It was complete silence which I'm not used to. Out of curiosity I decided to look up and immediately regretted it. There was a creepy clown mascot wallpaper hanging on the wall on top of us. At this point, I was frozen in the fear cause of that clown. I despise clowns.
Longtime fear of mine since I was a little child. We truly had no idea just what the hell we were getting in ourselves into. There was a special code 196605, the lead security guard typed in once he inserted a card. The heavy metal door opened, and we continued. Eventually, we went down into a different corridor.
The new corridor had rooms down the entire hallway walls. Each door had a plex circle then-inch window on the half-left corner. It reminded me of a psychiatric ward. We walked for what seemed like an eternity until we got to a room numbered 2000. There were surprisingly three chains already there for us.
I thought it was odd because there was no longer three but at this time five. I hadn't realized it but the other two disappeared off somewhere without us noticing. We were left the room alone. We sat down and waited for good little children. Two hours passed, still no one. Journey approached the door which was seemingly unlocked.
We didn't think of opening it, for fear of guards being outside thinking we were dumb enough to try and escape. 40 minutes pass and we get restless. We decide to open the door and the hallway is completely empty like before.
No sign of life anywhere. I didn't like this vibe of emptiness was getting at all around.
I tried to stay but I couldn't let Journey go alone. As we began walking, Journey yelled, "Is there anybody there?"
No answer. We looked at each other, "Look I don't know about you but I'm ready to get the hell out of here."
We looked around and noticed surveillance cameras with motion sensors. Each number on the doors was out of order from the next.
It was odd like 1989 was next to 1999. Maybe they were randomly chosen. Journey looked around while walking, "If they truly wanted us, we would get the attention we deserve. Being stranded for as long as we have, we deserve as much."
The picture of the clown kept popping in and out of my head, "Maybe it's a scare tactic. They are probably waiting for us outside laughing, right?"
Journey nodded, "Remember where you are Castor. Don't fall for their deception. Fear and logic is the only thing keeping us alive."
I ignored the rest of what he was saying I was too intrigued by what was behind those doors. Journey noticed and tried to reason with me, but I already was too scared to care. As we wandered down the corridor, I noticed a red light in the middle of the motion detection cameras that wasn't there before. Ten minutes later we reached the end of the always. The door at the end had a pin code reader like the last.
I typed in the same code the security did before, but it was invalid. At that moment that's when things changed. The lights all throughout the hallway cut completely off. We heard the doors begin to open. There we were subtle creeks throughout the entire hallway.
The doors hit the wall with force. Every single door opened but the one in front of us. It smelled like a trap. We were fucked. Each room had very little light seeping from it in the doorway.
I stood there stunned, stuck in shock. Why didn't I let the smart guy do it? I'm so stupid. Journey kept trying to break me out. It lasted for a good two minutes.
Not knowing what the hell to do. We probably tripped an alarm. It had to be standard protocol. We turned away from the direction of the locked door. There was a sudden urge to run without hesitation we both listened to as if it were instinct.
Once we hit the 12th door while running we began looking inside the rooms. Standing inside the doorways were people in different costumes. All my childhood fears. Clowns, ducks, mice, pigs, demons. Just about everything my mind could muster.
This shit was fucking insane. I screamed at the top of my lungs. I look back, watching them walk casually as if they knew we had no escape. There was an innocent but at the same time sinister playing on the inner com. Reminded of my childhood.
In my mind, I'm thinking is it necessary to run at this point but then again if they catch we'll most likely get devoured. The thought of that made me cry uncontrollably. The different route we took made the hallway seem endless. I looked back again and noticed there was nothing, but I could still hear footsteps in the distance. We needed stop and soon.
Journey looked like he was about to faint from exhaustion. I believe that was the right call, but my friend needed it. We went inside the barely lit empty room. We decide to hide in there until we our catch breathe. I closed the door behind us noticing the number was 1999.
Journey sat down against the wall. I couldn't focus so I just paced back and forth from side to side. For some reason there were shadowy figures moving on the other side of the room. I looked at the window which was pitch black. No sound or movement.
I and Journey decided now was the best time to go. As we were about to open the door someone grabbed my arm. I was completely spooked and before I screamed Journey put his hand over my mouth. I blink for a good thirty seconds. There is a beautiful hazel-eyed brunette holding my arm.
There is another hiding in the shadows. Journey looks at the girl in the shadows heavily," You have been watching us for quite some time. My question is why? By the looks of this, it doesn't seem like you want to be found out either. You two are scary silent which can only mean you have something to hide or protect. Maybe from the shadows."
The girls approach us out from the darkness. I notice the one who was in the shadows by herself is one of those blonde black-eyed urban legend kids. She is scarier than those mascots monsters outside. I'm in the room with the devil.
The blond opened up her left palm, "We are in serious trouble. Never mess with the enterprise. We aren't going back to that desolate place again."
The brunette put her palm out, "I am Eden, and this is my black-eye dyed best friend Beatrice."
Journey crosses his arms together, "How are we in actual danger? They were walking for one, insulting my intelligence. This seems like one big annoying game of chess."
The blonde closed her palm, "I assure you all games is over. This is far from over. Its only has begun. Its bigger than us. But you won't understand until I tell you why. Prepare yourself because this is going change how you perceive everything."
At that moment I realized our search has ended. We seek something fun and exciting. It has taken us forever, but we finally found something worth our attention again. Scary as hell yes, but it's a beautiful path alright. I'll keep my promise.
