She did not know how long she was unconscious for but as far as she could tell, it was still dark, and she was lying face down. Zuri could hear a woman speaking a language she never heard before then the memory of her attack and the demonic-looking woman came back to her. If she moved or tried to turn, then the demon would know she was awake, and the gods only knew what it would do to her. Staying as still as possible was her best chance to find out more about where she was, she would quickly glance around mark an exit and at the first chance run faster than her legs could carry her. Getting out of this place and back to her son was all that mattered, nothing else.
Slowly, she opened her eyes and saw she was near a bed, it was black and low to the ground like the platform bed she had except this one hovered about six inches of the ground. The room was dark but seemed to be made up of mainly black and a deep rich red, she could make out the two doors, but they were closed so there was no telling if it would be an escape or just another trap.
“Eros, please wake I have brought you something that the healers have not thought to try but I am certain it will work.” Zuri heard the demon say whomever she was talking too did not respond.
She watched as the demon moved closer to the bed and chanced turning her head hoping she would be too busy to notice. There was another door towards the rear of the room, it was far from the bed she laid at the bottom of but there was a fade glow that streamed in from the bottom. Yes, that must be it, she thought. Then suddenly she remembered her bag and the essentials she kept in them glancing back to the demon who was still preoccupied and still trying to wake whoever it was she was talking too. Zuri carefully and slowly reached across to see if her bag was there. She almost cried when she felt her bag was, she strapped across her body. Quietly she unclipped it and pulled out the knife gripping it tightly in her hand. She would have to make a break for it going over the bed.
It was now or never as scared as she was, she wouldn’t let her fear get her killed. She quickly switched blade in her hand and reached out stabbing the demon in its leg without waiting she sprang up and scurried onto the bed her eyes locked on the door she hoped would lead to her freedom. She heard the angry growl behind her and looked over her shoulder just in time to see the swing of a clawed hand coming towards her. She fell over and onto her back as it narrowly missed her, the demon’s eyes were blazing red and the scowl on her face truly made her look more demonic than the beautiful creature she was before.
Zuri crawled backward until she hit whatever was on the bed and rolled over to get over them, her hand touched something smooth yet hard as stone. She looked over and white eyes like the female demon stared back at her in shock except these eyes shimmered with specks of gold that seemed to float about in them. She didn’t realize she was staring until she was slammed away from those eyes and into a wall with the angry demon’s hand around her throat holding up above the ground, the knife instantly dropped from her hand as she clawed at the hand threatening to choke her to death.
“Please,” she managed to choke out; she couldn’t die, not now. Please goddess don’t let me die here, she thought, please. However, the demon only squeezed tighter with no sign of remorse of letting her go until she was dead on the ground.
“Let her go,” A voice called out, but the demon didn’t as if she didn’t hear or just didn’t want to listen.
“I said let her go or would you prefer to anger me?” Zuri instantly fell to the ground coughing and holding her throat.
“Eros, you are …”
“Get out now.”
Zuri heard the female growl then stomp out of the room slamming the door shut behind her, she still laid on the ground breathing heavily as she tried to calm down from how close came from never seeing her son again. Not to mention every part of her body hurt after being tossed around like a rag doll, she marveled nothing was broken. Luckily, she could still run which was exactly what she planned to do as soon as she could but right now, even her eyes hurt.
“Are you ok?”
There was that deeply baritone but smooth as Manuka honey and just as rich voice again, the same voice that saved her from being killed. She opened her eyes and squinted because they still hurt then turned towards the voice, her mouth fell open to answer to no words came to her. The creature, demon, or whatever before her was breathtaking by any standards, how could a demon be this attractive was that even possible.
He smirked as if he heard her thoughts or maybe he was just accustomed to the reaction he got when people saw him. He had to know he was a full-on sin feast, no wonder he was a demon he damn well deserved it for even every woman’s temptation.
His face was a ruggedly masculine with a square jaw but slightly oval face shape that had what looked like a five-day-old beard and narrowed almond-shaped eyes that looked like they were permanently trying to seduce you. They were the same eyes that held her in place when she tried to escape the first time. With a slim nose with lips that looked full, lush, and made for making women scream.
He reminded her Rain from Ninja Assassin his body even seemed to rival Rain’s own as he gave her a full view wearing nothing, but pajama bottoms. The demon in front of her was big, all muscle, looks, and sex appeals of all kinds. His hair was messy, left only a small bit of the two horns on his head showing, and draped over one of his eyes. He also sported several earrings that ran along the cartilage of one of his ears, but it was the small lip ring that had Zuri licking her lips wondering what those felt like.
His skin was also a deep grey and smooth like polished clay with a few scars across his chest and stomach that suggested he was a fighter or soldier or some kind. In addition, he was more than a foot taller than her five three height. What the hell were the gods thinking when they made him. Her eyes gravitated back to below his waist to massive bulge that seemed to hold her transfixed. Nevertheless, she had to remember that he was still a demon, and she had a child she needed to stay alive for, no one no matter how unnaturally handsome, built, and blessed he was below the waist he was; nothing was going to stop her.
Again, he asked, “Are you ok?” as he moved closer.
Which caused her to stand too quickly as she tried to back away from him, her head spun, and she would have collapsed again if he hadn’t moved with a speed that wasn’t humanly possible and caught her before she could. Her hand instantly went out to steady herself causing images to flash in her mind. She pushed away from him, “What the hell was that?” she whispered to herself.
She hadn’t noticed that he had already moved next to her when she looked up and screamed before she fully turned and kicked him in the groin. She ran for the door without bothering to look back to see if it affected him or not, she threw her entire body into the door and burst through the door.
Oh gods, she kicked him. She kicked a demon in his groin, but his eyes went as black as a thick bottomless tar pit, that swallowed you into its depth never to be seen again and those fangs, she shook from the thought of them. What the fuck had she been thrown into, she screamed in her mind, as she broke right and ran down the corridor. She ran down the stair and sprinted across a large empty hall, she glanced over her shoulders to see if he was following her before she burst through a large wooden door.
She looked around her and stopped, her eyes grew wide with horror. All around stood demon who seemed as shocked to see her, as she was terrified of seeing them then the locked onto the female that grabbed her and that got her moving. She spun around, bolted back out the door, as there seemed to be fewer demons that way, and reached into her bag pulling out the Taser; she would electrocute anything that got in her way.
