Zack woke up screaming as he fell out of his bed. “It was just a dream. It was just a dream,” he repeated over and over until he calmed down. He got up off the floor and immediately his back started to ache. He sat down on his bed and looked at his phone, it was 5 in the morning. He sighed. He went to the bathroom and took a cold shower when he exited the shower he wiped the mirror with his hands and saw that he had bagged eyes from no sleep. Then he went to his closet and pulled out a black t-shirt and pants. When he got dressed he put his phone in his pants pocket and went downstairs. He made scrambled eggs and bacon. He made them pretty good, that's rare for him. While in the middle of eating he kept remembering the memory from the fire, and his family burnt and melted bodies. He wasn't hungry anymore and put his plate in the sink.
He went outside on the back porch and sat on a rocking chair. He saw a glowing light far away, it was in the direction of the woods. He had just started to walk towards the light but when the sun rose the glowing light vanished. He stood there for a few minutes to see if the light would come back, it didn't. He went back into the house and sat on a couch in the living room. The living room was full of pictures of people he didn't recognize. The wallpaper in the room seemed like it started peeling a long ago. He pulled out his phone from his pocket to check the time and suddenly the phone dinged. He got a message from some unknown number. He opened his phone and read the text message. ‘Hi. It's Liam. I know it's early like the sun has just risen but I couldn't sleep much last night. So I will be free at 10. You can text me your address and I would come over and tell you all I know about the mysteries of the woods.’
Zack smiled at the text and said ‘why my place? Why not yours?’
He reads the text and it says ‘Well my house is very noisy. I have one older sister named Sara, she is one year older than me. I also have two younger siblings, their name is Peter and Emma. They are twins. So yea my family is pretty big and noisy.’
‘Wow. I also had a sister as well but she was 5 years older than me’. Zack sent the text then immediately regretted it. Hoping that he wouldn't ask anything about his family. He waited for 15 minutes and never got a reply, he looked at the time and it was 8:00 am.
Liam was laying on his belly on the bed waiting for a reply. He put down the phone and looked around his room. The room has posters about movies, anime, and games all over the room. He had a gaming computer set on the table. There is a lot of drawings on paper overflowing the table. There is a little basket near the door with dirty clothes overflowing. He made a little note to do laundry in his head. Then he moved on to his back and rested his head against his red pillow. He heard a ding and immediately checked his phone. He read the text and was going to message back but his sister Sara peaked her head past the door. Her colored hair falling apart from her braid she slept in and said: “Mom is done cooking, better get down there quick or we will eat it all one you.” She smiled and left.
He sighed and said to himself “I will text back later.” Then he put his phone down and went to join his family for breakfast.
He spent 30 minutes playing games on his phone, then Zack got a text but it wasn’t somebody he expected. He checked the caller ID but all it said was anonymous. He checked what the message says. ‘If you want to find out the truth about what happens in the woods. Go to the town’s library in the very back you will find a book. Look carefully, they made sure that nobody can’t find this book. I’m sure you have the ability to find it if you look carefully enough. You can’t tell anybody what you find. You’ll just be putting their lives in danger. Remember all of this, because this message will be deleted in a few seconds. Goodbye and Goodluck.’ When Zack reads the message it suddenly vanishes as if it deleted itself. Zack ran upstairs to his room and went to his bag right next to his bed. He pulled out his notebook and pen. He sat down on the bed and wrote the text message down before he forgets it.
When he got done writing he wondered who was the person that hid the book and why this anonymous person has chosen him to find out the truth. He also wondered if the dangers he said were true. All he knew is that he needed to go to the library soon.
