The sun has risen and it's morning, around 11 am. Joe gets up and sits at the end of his bed, then gets up and heads for the kitchen downstairs. When Joe reaches the kitchen, Erina is seen sitting at the table. Joe heads for the bread to make some toast. Erina notices how sickly he looks, she looks down and up at his figure.
"You look horrible" she comments.
Joe pops a vein.
He would usually just blow something like this off since it was not that big of a deal. But for some reason, he was easily irritable today
"Shut up you bitch." Joe spits back
Erina flinches at the insult and tears begin to well in her eyes
Joe, beginning to realize what he had done, tries to apologize
"S-sorry!" Joe reassured
"Why are you so mean to me?! I was just trying to help you." Erina said, wiping her tears
"Well, you could've phrased it better!" Joe shouted
Erina is startled by his sudden rise of voice, she begins to cry more
"Waaaaah, stop yelling at me!" Erina whined
As Erina is crying, Joe's mom walks in and sees the chaos unfolding
"Erina! What's the matter?? Why are you crying?" she asks
"N-nothing *sniff*" Erina whimpered
"Joe! Are you being mean to your sister again?" the sibling's mother asks
"What? Why do you assume that this is my fault? Just because you are correct doesn't mean your right!!!" Joe shouts as he throws his arms in the air
Joe's mom grabbed Erina's shoulders from behind and tried to calm her down
"Unbelievable" Joe sighed, he then walks up to his room, not being hungry anymore. When he arrives to his lair, he sits down and opens Harmony. "I wonder if Jason is online" Joe looks at Jason's status, he is online. Jo calls him, after a few moments, he picks up.
"Hello, Joe." Jason greets, awkwardly
"Hey, Jason, what up?" Joe asks, even though he already knows the answer.
"Nothing really, just working on the game" Jason answered, predictably.
Joe had met Jason through a game development forum along time ago, they become friends through their shared interest. Both are working on a game, though they argue over the said game excessively.
"Nice, add anything new?" Joe asked as he had not done anything for the game in days.
"I fixed the floor clipping bug and cleaned up some code."
"Nice, nice"
"So anyway, why did you call me?"
"Just wanted to talk about the game more."
Though the two had been working on the game for months, they still had no name for it yet. Joe had often given ideas for a title, but Jason's stubbornness restricts it from ever being official. " Last night I thought of a good title for the game" Joe began
"Oh, another one of your brilliant ideas, go ahead." Jason joked
"How about 'Poppu! Dating Stars!'" Joe presented, a silence filled the call for a few seconds.
"What a terrible name" Jason declared.
Joe was at his breaking point with the title crisis, he was getting impatient.
"OK, do you have any BETTER ideas?" Joe raged
"Heh, I sure do."
"What?"
"SUPER DOKI DOKI IDOL QUEST"
A silence had once again filled the call, but this time Joe was the one who was rejecting an idea.
"Eh? SERIOUSLY? You think THAT'S better?!" Joe questioned
"It's a beautiful name, tell me exactly what you think is wrong with it" Jason challenged.
"Before that, how about you tell me what's wrong with mine then!?"
"First of all, the title is very short and doesn't give much insight as to what the game could be about. Dating stars? What kind of stars? Movie stars, all-stars, real stars? No idea. The only good thing about that title is the "poppu" part." Jason explained
Joe was shocked, he didn't really expect Jason to give a super in-depth response to his question.
"That's where box art comes in, it helps the audience understand what the game could be about!! If we put images of idol stars on the box then it should be self-explanatory!!!!" Joe tries to explain.
"Oh, and what are they going to look like, huh? Generic moe anime girls? Those could be ANYTHING! Not just idols!!!"
"Then we put a microphone in their hands or something, something that represents an IDOL!"
"Putting a microphone might help, but then it might look like a rhythm game at first glance, and even then, not everyone sees the box art."
Joe was getting annoyed, to him, a name isn't that important, but to Jason, its everything. "Why are you being so difficult, fine, we can change the title."Joe caved
"I'm glad you finally came to your senses."Jason joked
"Whatever, now, back to stuff that actually matters," Joe said with a scorn
"Hm? So you're saying the title doesn't matter? Well, I'm sorry, but the title is one of the most important components to a game." Jason explained
"Yeah yeah, I guess, but I didn't want to spend this much time discussing the damn title"
"Joe, you want to be a game developer, right? Then you need to develop a great sense of detail. You may think, 'oh this is so insignificant, why should I even bother?' every once in a while. But things like that add up, and before you know it, your game becomes shit" Jason preached, with a great sense of pride. Joe sat there for a moment, thinking about what Jason just said. He never thought of it that way, but Jason opened his eyes.
"You know what Jason, you're right!" Jo exclaimed
"Of course I'm right, Joe, when am I ever wrong?"
"Alright, now, let's begin talking about the plot!" Joe said, and before they knew it, 20 minutes had passed.
"SHUT UP YOU NO LIFE FROG FACED DUMBASS!" Joe screamed, the mood had changed drastically within the short time-span.
"Joe...insult me one more time and you will regret it..." Jason warned
"I'M GETTING SICK OF YOU MAKING ALL THE CHOICES!" Joe yelled
"Joe, i-" Jason began, before getting interrupted by more shouting.
"YOU THINK ALL YOUR IDEAS ARE BETTER THAN MINE, GOD I AM SO SICK OF THIS, I'M SICK OF YOU, I'M DOOOONNNNNEEE" Joe shrieked, and with this, he left the call. Although this may seem like an end to their friendship, this is actually normal for them. This happens frequently. Joe knows he isn't done with Jason, and Jason knows this also. Joe is left sitting alone with his thoughts, he looks and at the clock and sees that its past noon. Lunchtime. He then gets up from his chair and heads to the kitchen. He opens the fridge and begins scanning for something to eat, he then spots a bag of fast food from the previous day."Leftovers it is then". As Joe is eating, Erina walks into the kitchen.
Joe's relationship with his sister is strange. He does not hate his sister, but he also does not like her either. And Erina is no different. Joe does try and act as if he likes her sometimes, as he feels he has to since he is her older brother. But something about her prevents him from feeling this way. Deep down he does care, but those feelings are very oppressed. As Joe is eating, Erina looks at him, and at the bag. Then at the "Erina" written on the bag. Erina then realizes he is eating her lunch.
"Joe!" Erina shouts
"Yeah?" Joe asked as he looked up
"That's MY food! I even wrote my name on it!"
"Oh, shit, I didn't know this was yours, my bad." Joe apologizes, "I could have sworn this was mine, but whatever." Erina stared at the partially eaten hamburger, in a sad tone, she tells Joe it's fine.
"It's okay, you can just eat the rest," Erina said in a pouting tone
"Okay," Joe said as he shoved the burger back into his mouth
"YOUr SUPPOSE TO APOLOGIZE AND NOT EAT THE REST!" Erina screamed
"But you said it was fine..."
"CAN YOU NOT TAKE A HINT?!?, NEXT TIME BE MORE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT YOU EAT!" Erina lectured, with this, she smacked the burger out of his hand and stormed away.
Joe stares at the floor burger with dead eyes, and then goes back to his room.
