Jo enters his room and sits down at his desk. He has 1 new message from the user Yu2, the messenger was one of Joe's friends, Yusuke.
"Game." the message simply read. This is how Yusuke conveys to Joe that he wants to play Super Mud Bros. Super Mud Bros is a fighting game that Joe enjoys playing, and it's a game that Yusuke is extremely skilled at. Yusuke is someone that Joe met while he was in high school, one of Joe's few friends. Being born in Japan originally, he and his family moved to the United States. After a few seconds, Joe called Yusuke.
" Hey Joe, what's up?" Yusuke asks
"Nothing much, just bored as hell" Joe answers, tiredly.
"Heh, well a game of mud will fix that!"
"I wouldn't call getting my ass beaten fun, but who knows"
"Come on, losing helps you grow"
"Lets me get my Switch turned on real quick."
Joe reaches over and turns on his Tinnendom Switch, a game console commonly used to play the fighting game, and opens up Super Mud Bros. Brouhaha. After a few seconds, Joe and Yusuke were finally both ready to fight.
"Hey Yusuke, don't hold back this time alright?" Joe insisted, feeling confident.
"You want me to go all out? Alright then." Yusuke sighed
"I've been practicing a lot recently, I think I can handle you this time."
"We'll see about that"
After a few seconds of hopeless inputs by Joe, the fight was nearing its end.
"SHIT, this is bad, real bad! Yusuke's good, REALLY good!" Joe thought to himself, clearly shook. Yusuke stood his ground, he could easily end it right now, he had the power. But the professional gamer wanted to test Joe, he wanted to see how much progress he had made. Little did Joe know, Yusuke was only using 60% of his power. Yusuke was impressed by how much Joe improved. Last time they fought Yusuke only had to use 30% of his power. It's not like Yusuke had to use 60% to beat him though, he is only using this much just so he can seem like he is using 100% to Joe. If Yusuke was truly using 100%, the fight would already be over.
"Okay Joe, come at me!" Yusuke shouted, and with this, Joe charged towards the impossibly strong foe. After only a moment, the fight was over.
"Oh, bullshit! I trained so hard to at-least beat you once, but I couldn't even land more than a SINGLE ATTACK!" Joe ranted. He was upset that he was not able to take at least one life from Yusuke, he thought for sure that his hours of practice would pay off, but it seems that he was still no match.
"I'm slightly disappointed, Joe, you're growth isn't where it should be." Yusuke critiqued
"Yeah, maybe it seems that way to a god damned monster like you."
"Next time we see each other in person I'll tell you if your Gamer Aura has increased or not." One thing Yusuke had that made him special from the average gamer is his ability to instantly rate an individual's skill at any game just by looking at them. A very niche power, but its better than nothing.
"Thanks, I guess," Joe responds. Joe himself does believe that Yusuke's ability is real, as Yusuke has shown Joe multiple times the benefits of it, such as winning bets on E-Sport tournaments. "I've been thinking, are you able to gauge your own level of skill, Yusuke?" Joe questions, a thought that has always been on his mind but has never been asked.
"No, I can't. But by power scaling myself to the most powerful gamers I've beaten in Super Mud Bros. I would say my power level is at-least over 2,000" Yusuke answers, a high number compared to even the most skilled.
"Holy shit, that's...kinda overpowered." Joe mourned.
"Anyway, that's just my level of power in Super Mud Bros. My overall power is somewhere around 500 I would guess," Yusuke explained, the mentioning of a different scale of power confused Joe.
"Wait hold on, this Gamer Aura shit has layers to it?" Joe asked
"Gamer Aura is a person's gaming abilities ranked by numbers. The average gamer has an overall gamer level of 110. But this number can increase or decrease in certain games." Yusuke began.
"Oh, I guess that makes sense," Joe stated casually, confused as it what he just heard. "Then what's my overall gamer power or whatever?"
"Around 300 if my memory is correct, higher then average," Yusuke revealed. This comment made Joe feel a little better about himself. What an accomplishment to make.
"So you're telling me I'm better than the average gamer? Let's GO!" Joe shouted, but just as he proclaimed this, his father walked past his room and overheard the battle cry, and his face turned from happy to sad in an instant.
"My son is twenty-one and unemployed." The disappointed father thinks to himself.
