Avery stood in front of his house at 1am, almost hyperventilating and dreading the moment he had to walk through the thick wooden door into the cruel, oppressive household he'd lived in for 17 years. What kind of horror would he walk into this time? Would his father be sane but insulting? Or would he be in one of THOSE moods? The ones that resulted in terror and pain? The mood that induces insanity and destroys any hope of survival… 

Avery slowly raised his hand to open the door. He had barely even opened it a crack before he knew exactly what mood his father would be in. He could smell blood. 'I'll just run to my room as fast as I can.' He prepared himself to move quickly in order to escape the monster going by the label of 'father.' He walked in and immediately screamed. "MOM! NO!" He gazed upon the scene of horror in front of him.
