Imani POV
As I walked away I could felt his eyes on me, once I was out of the cafe it took me a while to let everything sink in. I got in my car and drove home in complete silence, once I parked my car I hit my head on the staring wheel in embarrassment.
'How can I just wink at him like that!? I never knew I had that confidence when it comes to guys!?'
My flustered-ness soon fades away, 'Well he is pretty cute...I think I'll give him a chance.' The more I think about him and his annoying men the more I put the pieces together..."He's in a gang." That's literally the only way he can have so many followers with weapons like guns, knives, etc. "No...hes in the Mafia!" I've never met a gang where they all wear suits, usually, they wear something more discrete, usually whatever they feel like.
Back in high school I was partners with this dude and he was in a gang his name was Chris, we had to do our project at his hideout. He was really nice and so were his friends, when I got bullied by the other girls he would be there to help me. Sadly he had to move away, but he did teach me how to play poker and to see if someone was lying, in return, I helped him in math and world history.
I could be going crazy, but it is only a theory. 'If he is in the Mafia then I'll let him tell me when he's ready.'
I walk inside and change into an oversized sweatshirt and some long socks. I make myself a sandwich and look over some emails. Since there's nothing new, I turn on some anime and take out my drawing pad. I start to make a couple of logos and designs and send them to a couple of companies.
As time goes on, I put down my drawing pad and head to the kitchen to make myself some tea. I hear a silent ding go off from my phone. I grab my phone, its a message.
???? - This is Marcus *A couple of hours ago*
Marcus - Hey
I feel my body overheat, 'He actually text me!?' Ok! Don't panic! What should I say? Hey or hi or sup or- Ugh I'm overthinking this.'
I take a deep breath in and out, 'Just be yourself. Imani'
Imani - Hey
We ended up texting each other for the rest of the day and even called for a while because I couldn't text and make logos at the same time. We continued to talk throughout the week, one morning he asked me out on a date, I'll be meeting him at the park at noon.
Once I got home from the gym, I panicked a bit due to me not knowing what to wear. It got so bad that I had to call Auntie to give me some advice, once she found out that I was going on a date she demanded me to tell her everything from the beginning. I was able to compromise with her, now I'll be having dinner with her tomorrow.
With her help, I was able to decide on a simple short yellow sundress with black flats.
I drove to the park and waited on the bench in front of the basketball court. A game was going on and I was so invested in it I didn't notice Marcus coming towards me. "Imani?" I look up to see Marcus in a skin-tight white shirt and some jeans.
I stood up and gave him a small smile, he held out his hand and I gladly took it. We walk around and chat a bit, then we stop and get some ice cream. We played 20 questions, which resulted in me in finding out that his favorite color is green, he likes spicy food and that he has a sister. We also talked about our pet peeves and some stories of when we were younger.
We ended up back at the basketball court as the sunset, it was empty besides a few balls scattered around and Marcus had an idea. "Want to shot a couple of hops?"
I think for a moment and nod, "But I have to warn you, I'm not that good at sports." He chuckles a bit, "The same woman who beat up all my men can't shoot a couple of hoops?" I laughed a bit and he seemed mesmerized by something. "What are you staring at?" I turn around to see nothing and look back at him, he blushes a bit and smiles. "Nothing."
I smile at him a pick up a ball, "Let's have a little competition~" He seemed intrigued, "I'm listening."
I toss him a ball and pick up another one, "We have 1 minute, whoever shoots the most hoops win. The loser has to tell the other person 1 secret." He smirks at me, "You're on!"
He takes out his phone pulls out a timer, "3, 2, 1, Go!" We each start making shots, counting how many we make out loud. He's on 25 and I'm on 23, as I'm about to make my 24th shot the timer goes off. He snickers at my defeat and I laugh at his victory dance.
"Ok, here's the secret." He turns off the timer and he waits patiently for me to continue, "I've never dated anyone before, I always put work and my future above my love life. I never thought it was important and I've never given anyone a chance until you came around." He seems a bit taken back and smiles at me, he walks up to me and grabs my hand. "Well, I'm honored. How was your first date?"
I place my hand on his chest and look up at him, "It was perfect."
He escorts me to my car before I can get in, he takes my hand again and kisses the back of it, "Can I take you out again next week for lunch? Thursday?" I nod, "I would love that." I get on my tippy toes and kiss him on the cheek, "Goodnight~" He seems stunned at my act of affection, but once I start my car he snaps out of it and gives me a goofy smile. "Goodnight."
I drive off and make my way home.
Marcus POV
I walk over to my car, once I'm in I touch my cheek and smile a bit. 'No one has ever made me feel this way.'
I drive home, once I open the front door I see Ruby on the sofa. She looks at my goofy smile, "Where have you been? I've never seen that look before." I plop down next to her, "I just had a date with a goddess and we're going on another next week." She laughs at my exaggeration, "Is this the chick you've been texting and calling for almost a week now?" I nod slowly, "Her name is Imani~."
She thinks for a moment, "Describe her for me?"
"She has dark skin, curly hair, and a beautiful figure. She's tall, and she has the sharpest mind I've ever seen. She's calm, cool and can hold a nice conversation." Ruby giggles a bit, "That sounds like my trainer." I shoot up, "Wait, the same trainer that not only trains you but also Lucus and Mario?" She nods, "Yup."
I think for a moment, "When is the next time you see her?" She thinks for a moment, "Tomorrow at 4." I smile a bit, "Can I drive you there? I want to say hi to her."
She nods, "Sure lover boy." I blush a bit at the name but I don't mind that much.
