Imani POV

I sit still, praying that they don't go in the closet. The same man comes back over near the stairs, he got closer to my dark corner. I drag him in and slice his throat, I am silent, deadly and no one notices his disappearance.

I pick his pockets and take some cash, I then get a coin and throw it across the room. The footsteps walk towards it like the idiots they are.

I stand and shot them, leg, arm, and hand. I repeat this process with the rest of the men downstairs. Until they were all down, groaning, cursing at me but I ignore them all and run over to the closet. I see Marcus smirking at me, and I look away. 'Why does he have to be so goddamn attractive.'

Before we made it to the door I hear a gunshot, I turn around to see Chris and his lackeys. I look at Marcus and he looks at me, we smirk at each other.

His men charge at us, we take them down left and right. We work in perfect sync, not only with defending but with protecting. When we took us the last couple of men, I was pushed to the side. Then I heard a loud scream, I look over to see Marcus holding his arm. Blood is staining his shirt, I quickly run over to him.

I quickly rip a long strip of fabric from my shirt and tie it tight around his injury to apply pressure. I glare at Chris and he steps forward, "Imani, why would you want a weak man like this when you have me~" He stands in front of me, "Be with me and I'll spare him." He points his gun at Marcus and I point mine at his stomach.

I glare at him, "Try me, bitch." He returns the glare with equal force, our rage for each other floods the room and before he knew it I shot him.

"MARCUS NOW!"

Marcus moves out of the way before he could get shot again, I pull the trigger and shot Chris multiple times in the gut and chest.

We both ran out of the door and in the forest, he got cut and begins to stumble a bit. I ran over to him and help him up. We hide for a while in the bushes and the wide barks of the forest trees. "They're gone! FUCK!"

Another man yells, "Let's get back, we can get them later!" Their footsteps fade away and we wait a little while longer.

I help him walk through the forest and back to the house. The money I took was now useless, Marcus is too beat us to go in one without getting the cops involved. I grow tired as the house comes to view, I ring the doorbell and Ruby is the first face I see. "IMANI! MARCUS!?"

Everything goes dark.

Mini Timeskip

I wake up again, but instead of me being in a medical bed I'm in a room I don't recognize at first. I shoot up and look around in a panic, I look down to see I'm in one of Marcus's shirt. I open the door to see Marcus with a bandage on his upper arm

He gives me a small smile, "I'm glad you're awake." He walks in and I close the door behind him. When I turn around, Marcus places his lips on mine. I melt into the kiss and wrap my arms around him. Our lips part and he gives me a grateful smile, "Thank you for saving me back there." I return it, "It was nothing, I should be thanking you, you did it first."

He gives me a serious look, "I'm serious, you came for me without a second thought. You...I...I love you." I was shocked but a single tear fell, I didn't know why I'm crying and a swell of happiness fills inside of me. I smile a bit, "I-I love you too."

With his one arm, he lifts me up and I yelp. He tosses me on the bed and gets in after me, he tucks us in and I automatically lay my head on his chest. His warmth soothes me, and I start to close my eyes once again.

My dreams fill head, a peaceful field. I run letting the wind hit my face, then the ground begins to crack and disappears. I fall but I don't panic, no fear, but I feel at peace. I let the clouds pass me, then I land on the still ocean. I stood on the water, the blue sky turns red and the sun turns black. I heard the laughter of Chris in my mind, then I feel hands on my ankles, I look down and I start to sink.

I struggle to breathe, then I see a shark. When he bares his teeth the fear of drowning leaves, the shark gets closer and closer and stops right in front of me. I touch it and the world around us floats away, I close my eyes and open them, I'm in a white room.

I hear the sound of a little girl crying, I turn around to see a little girl. A little girl that looks exactly like me, she looks up at me and wipes her tears. She walks past me and she begins to grow up.

I watch as I grow cold, intelligent, cunning, strong. I watch how my tears, my frown turns into a blank stare that makes me seem untouchable. Then I watch as I walk towards a light, warmth fills the room and I feel arms wrap around me from behind.

"Marcus?"

I wake up, the moon still shines bright and a sleeping face rest next to me. I smile and give him a peck on the lips.

I feel, at peace.
