Imani POV
I look at myself in front of the mirror, I am wearing a long yellow backless turtleneck dress. It has a long opening on the front for my leg to go through, with white wedged heels. I pin my hair on both sides to give myself a mohawk and apply my lip gloss. I put on my earrings and smile at myself in the mirror, something shines in my eye.
I look down at my hand to see it's my engagement ring, I smile and exit the bathroom. I take a deep breath and exit our bedroom, I walk downstairs quickly noticing Marcus fixing his hair in the mirror. I smile a bit, and he notices my presence. He turns around, his jaw slowly drops and I can't help but chuckle a bit. I walk up to him and close his mouth, "You should keep it closed, flys will get in~"
I walk past him and make our way to the car, he soon follows and we're off.
You're probably wondering where we're going, well after the war, the mafia leaders decided to have a big party to celebrate! Everyone is going to be there, Marcus even invited Auntie. We will also be announcing our engagement since we want it to be a surprise.
As time passed we arrived at the gorgeous mansion, cars were lined up and people were walking up the stairs in there elegant suits and gowns. Our car was next, Marcus got out of the car and opens my door for me. A butler gets in the driver's seat to park our car, Marcus takes my hand and leads me upstairs.
Once we walk through the large double doors someone shouts, "It's Marcus!" All eyes were on us, I don't know who started the chain but everyone started to clap and cheer. We walk together but boarded with people trying to talk to us. Men in suits crowded me asking for my name, wanting to know more about me, and even asking if I'm single.
Once a couple of men asks that I felt someone grab my waist and pull me close. "Sorry boys, but my fiance and I have to go." Everyone grows silent, some start to congratulate us others start to whisper. I feel sone glaring at me but I pay them no mind and walk with Marcus.
"Imani!?" I turn around to see my Auntie, "Hey Auntie!" She grabs my shoulders, "Is what Marcus said true?! Are you two engaged!?" I give her a sweet smile, "Yup, we wanted to keep it a surprise and announce it but it turned out a bit differently."
She started to tear up, "I'm so happy, I knew one day you would find someone." I give her a big hug and she continues, "Your parents would be so proud." We let each other go, and smiles at Marcus, "You better take care of her!"
He nods, "You know I will."
"Come on, the family is over here." We follow her, the stares and whispers seem to continue. We meet up with the Rosanos and catch up a bit. I haven't seen the brothers in a while but I come to find out that they are related to Marcus. We joke around a bit and talk about random things going on in the world.
"I'm going to get something to drink." They nod and I'm on my way.
The whispers increase, a woman walks up to me and glares. "So you're the slut who's going to marry Marcus. He can do better." I roll my eyes and grab a drink from a butler but she continues, "He could have had any Mafia daughter but he chose a quiet bitch who has no business being in the mafia world." I continue to ignore her and finish my drink, I give it to the butler and thank him.
I turn and make my way to my new family, I can see her growing red. "Why the fuck, won't you say anything, you bitch!" I giggle a bit and look at her, "Your words are as valuable as the dirt on the bottom of my shoe. So why would I let it affect me, it doesn't change how I feel about Marcus and it won't lead you to our bed."
I continue to walk, I hear someone screeching. I step to the side and watch as she bumps into someone and falls on the ground. She glares at me and a crowd gathers, "She pushed me!" I stay calm and before I can anything a deep voice interrupts me.
"I think it's time for you to leave since you decided to harass her. Now should leave." The girl looks taken back, she gets up and runs out of the room with tears in her eyes. Another voice speaks up, "I couldn't say it better myself Johnatan." I look over to see 2 men, one I recognized from both war meetings his name is Enzo and the other I don't know.
I give them a small smile, "Thank you for helping me." Johnathan smiles at me, "I have heard a lot about you, unfortunately, I couldn't join the fight against the Blue Bloods due to me having my own issues with another group. But I have heard a lot about you and what you have done. I was surprised to know that this is your first time being associated with the Mafia world, but you seem to be dominating the floor."
I nod, "I am just a woman with longlasting hobbies that seem to benefit her." He laughs a bit, "So reading books of war and self-defense is a long-lasting hobby?" I smile, "Yes, I have been doing so since I was a little girl. Sometime after my parents pass away. "Who raised you, if I may ask?"
"My Auntie, would you like to meet her?" He nods and I lead the way. When we get there everyone stares at me and Johnathan. "Auntie?" She snaps out of it, Johnathan holds out his hand she takes it and smiles. He kisses the top of it, "My name is Johnathan Matteo." She smiles, "My name is Faith Adams."
They stare at each other for a bit, it's clear as day that sarks were flying. He lets go of her hand reluctantly, "Would you like to get something to drink?" She nods and they walk away chatting up a storm.
Everyone was still stunned, I tilt my head to the side. "What's up with you guys?" Leonardo answers my question, "You just talk to the legendary leader of the Reapers Touch, he is the most feared and oldest Mafia group in the Mafia world. With the Roseno becoming second, but our group is still a bit young."
I turn around to see him and Auntie talking, and I smile. "Well, he better treat my Auntie like the queen she is."
They laugh a bit, music starts to play and people start to dance. Marcus holds his hand out, "May I have this dance?" I smile, "You may." He leads me to the dancefloor and we dance, chat and just enjoy ourselves.
Who would have thought, that I would be doing this?
