Azalea was built on a hillside with a jumble of houses built in different designs. The town was crowded with people; maybe because the holiday season drew closer.
I looked around the town from the window of the carriage. There were decorations everywhere and lights were designed into different shapes.
We reached the place where we were to stay, the Endron Estate. It stood behind huge iron gates and a stone path connected to the enormous house. There were bushes which were well trimmed and shaped into cubes along the sides.
'Why are all the houses so huge in this world?' I looked at the huge door in front of me and tried to push it but it wouldn't budge.
"There's a door bell here, my Lady." Zed pressed on the bell that was a few inches above me.
No wonder I didn't see it!
"Who puts up a door bell that high?! Whose house is this anyway?" I asked without another thought.
"This is the royal estate which the Celeste family received rights to use it after your aunt, the Queen, joined the royal family. We are allowed to use it when we visit Azalea." My father spoke.
I zipped my lips tight after that.
A man opened the door.
"Welcome to the Endron Estate. I'm the butler of this place, Rine Wilson. We were expecting your visit, Duke Roscoe."
The interior of the house was huge and magnificent. There were staircases that went up from both sides and met at the centre which led to the rooms on first floor. The ceilings had a detailed pattern of flowers and birds and the walls had asymmetrical designs on it.
It looked like some castle during the medieval period, yet there was a modern touch to it.
There was a glass door at the end of the room that led out to the garden full of flowers.
I looked at the house in awe. The mansions at Gardenia and Hellebore were beautiful; not to mention huge but this time, it was different.
I felt like a rich kid going 'round places spending my life in luxury. I could say I was in the same situation yet different. I was a rich kid going 'round places to find a way back home to the real world! (In luxury)
We were led to our rooms by the butler and the maids. I laid on my bed which was so soft and comfortable, I fell asleep.
Later during the evening, father came into the room to tell me about the meeting which was to be held the next day. I couldn't tell him that attending the meeting was just an excuse to come to Azalea.
He said that I didn't have to attend the meeting but instead I could go around the town with Zed. He knew I didn't come following him here to attend a boring meeting which he was certainly correct. But I didn't come here for sightseeing either.
I decided I'd accompany him to the meeting. He agreed to my decision but told me I could be at the visitor's area at that place since the meeting was going to be a long one.
Well either way I understood that he didn't want me at the meeting. But let's take it positively, he said it'd be boring and well, I never wanted to be at the meeting either.
The next day, we headed to the venue. There were nobles from different places that came. As I was told yesterday, I headed to the visitor's area with Zed. On the way, I saw Al and the Duke from a distance. Luckily, he turned to our direction and saw us. After some words with his father, he walked towards us.
"Al! You made it." I said.
"Good afternoon, Lady Jerinah." He bowed. "Don't forget the title" he said in a low voice, audible to me.
Ugh, I forgot we were to formally greet ourselves first. I wondered how Al could keep up with all the rules and regulations.
I made a curtsy to him.
"Good afternoon Lord Al." I said then lowered my voice and continued "I apologise for my unpretentious behavior."
"What do you mean, Lady Jerinah?" He said in an irritated tone but smiled.
"N-nothing." I quickly said.
We headed to the visitor's area. I asked Zed to leave the room for some time, since we had to talk about something that the people of this world should never know about.
"So, what's the plan?" I asked.
"Plan?" He said.
I looked at him dumbstruck. I thought he had a plan!
He crossed his legs and spoke.
"Don't look at me like that, we both agreed that we'd meet here and search for the sorcerer. I never mentioned I'd come up with a plan."
He actually never did mention that so I didn't argue with him. It was not like I had a plan either.
Without a single clue, neither about the sorcerer nor with a plan, we sat thinking about what to do. A few minutes later, he decided we go to the town and ask the people living around the border for information.
"The people there know a lot of the history of the place and other things than the people living at the centre of the town." He said.
I told Zed that I was going around the town with Al and he agreed. I asked him to tell father about it too. It was kind of weird that he had no problem with me going alone with Al but that was a good thing so I didn't think much about it.
We took a horse and went to the town. Al suggested we cover ourselves with cloaks so that the people in town won't recognise us. 'Who would even know us?' I thought as I put on a cloak.
This was my second time sitting with someone else on a horse. First, it was with Zed when I first entered this world and all I remember was holding on tight so that I won't fall off the horse that was galloping at a high speed.
I sat close to Al; our bodies were too close! He didn't even wear an armor; I could feel his firm muscles beneath his clothes. I never noticed it before, but he had a broad chest too. I felt his breath from behind. I took a peak at him; his deep blue eyes looked straight at was ahead. His eyes suddenly looked down and met mine.
"What is it?" He asked.
"N-nothing!" I quickly looked away. I felt my face get hot; a blush worked its way up to my face.
He seemed cool and his tone was indifferent but I could hear his heartbeat, loud as drums.
I peeked at him once more. This time, I noticed a faint blush on his cheeks.
