OH MY GOD!!! Someone just saw me naked. Well, half naked. ARRGGHH!! That boy was the boy from the store yesterday. He lives in here? What? Is he the other kid? How many kids does Kyle have? I fake banging my head to the dryer in silence.
What should I do when I walk out? Should I just ignore the fact that he just saw me in there? I don’t really want to confront him about it. It’s embarrassing. Still, I need to get out of here. Maybe I’ll just pretend that he didn’t see anything. I place my hand on my heart, trying to chill it out and turn the door knob with my other hand. As soon as it’s opened, I can see that the TV is on. I walk out tip toeing, so I won’t make any sound.
I find Kennedy and Katherine in front of the TV, eating cheerio without milk. I look around the house to make sure that I can run away from here as soon as possible.
“Alright, kids! I think I am going to go.” I break their connection with the TV.
“You’re not going to stay?” Katherine leaves her spot and reach out for my hand.
“No, Snow White.” I level my eyes with her.
“We can have dinner together. My brother brought meatloaf.” Kennedy backs her sister up.
Her brother. I knew it.
“Maybe some other time.” I smile at Kennedy with my shoulders up.
“How much do I have to pay you?” A raspy voice echoes from the stairs.
I have to get up on my feet and turn around to see him. He lost the jacket, leaving his black tee and jeans. As he comes closer to me, his tall figure towers me. These eyes are shimmering the exact same cold vibe as yesterday. They’re blue and intimidating.
“Keith, she is not a nanny!” Kennedy scolds her brother.
I love savage Kennedy.
“I am Lara. I actually live across the street.” I force a smile, trying to be nice.
I was kind of waiting for him to say. ‘I am sorry. I saw you in there’ or ‘sorry about the laundry room’ but he does not say anything. He just glares at me with his fierce eyes.
“Okay!” I look away from him. “Bye, girls!”
“Bye, Lara!” Kennedy and Katherine waves in unison.
What a jerk! He is so annoying. So rude. EW! I hate him already. I walk out the door in a hurry and forget that it’s actually still raining so, I have to shield myself with my skinny hands above my head and run to my house. Why did I put the kids before my own comfort? I could have just let them stay in my house when they got washed up in the rain on our way home from the freaking park but because they got nothing to wear, so I took them home and I was the one who got nothing to wear. Why didn’t I lock the laundry room? Oh, because I couldn’t. The stupid lock did not work so I had to dry my clothes while I was naked.
I can’t believe it!
I don’t want to think about it. I am just going to head to the shower and let the water wash away all the regrets in my mind.
Four Days Later ~~~
It’s Saturday and guess what? I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do. YAY! I have spent my day watching movies on my laptop in my room under my comfy blanket. Yikes! I love it. Now, I am starving. It’s only five and I think I need another cup of coffee. I need to dress up, who am I kidding? I don’t need to dress up. I am just going to put on a track suit. The red one. To finish my look, of course my gigantic glasses, and I am ready to go. I grab my phone, my wallet and my keys then head to the door.
“LARA!” Someone is calling my name.
I am looking for the source and it’s Kyle, jogging his athletic body from his front yard to my house. Wow! I never thought that he still looks amazing in a plain white tee and a pair of black sweatpants after I saw him in suits. Yeah, I have a thing for a man in a suit.
“Kyle! Hi!” My voice is so high pitched. EW!
“Are you going somewhere?” He is eyeing my car key.
“I am actually going to get some coffee.” I bite my lip in regret. Why do I look like shit in front of him?
“I was going to ask you to have a dinner with us.” He is straight forward.
“Oh…” I don’t know what to say.
“I really want to thank you for watching the kids the other day.” He inserts a smile in the middle of his words.
“You already gave me a nice cup of coffee at the office on Wednesday and you also got me a dozen of glazed donuts yesterday.” I return his smile.
“I am sure they will never be enough to express my grateful for what you did. Really, I insist.” He pulls his hands together, forming a distracting amount of veins in his arms.
“Okay!” I put my hands up then put them down on the side.
“Great.”
We giggle. For a time.
“Can I take you to the coffee house?” He suddenly asks to take me out.
I would feel so uncomfortable to be in the same car with someone I don’t really know, let alone to have a conversation in the car. What can I say? He is hot though. Should go for it?
“I actually wanted to go get some food as well.” He is jiggling his car keys in front of me.
I giggle, like an idiot, “Okay, we can go with my car.”
“Do you want me to drive?”
“Do you want to drive?”
We say those sentences at the same time and chuckle. I don’t want to say another words because I am incapable to do so at the time so, I just hand him my key.
