Kyle’s POV
We turn to the main road, and I can’t stop glancing over to her. Her face looks so soft and small, what a natural beauty. I am really distracted by her lips. She is continuously biting it down, and it’s driving me crazy. I want to pull over and grab her neck and crush those sweet lips. They are freshly glossy today. I wonder what kind of flavor they are today.
“Who’s watching the kids?” Her sweet low voice drags me back to reality.
“Keith is home.” I respond too quickly.
“Keith?” She sounds uneasy.
“Yes, my oldest child.” I glance at her again.
“How old is he?”
“He just turned eighteen last week.” I inform her.
She looks at me with her jaw drops in shock. So many people didn’t believe me when I say that Keith is my son. We don’t look alike because he takes after her mother, and they say I don’t look like I can have a son in Keith’s age.
“I had him when we were sixteen.” I explain to her.
She just nods her head a couple of time and looks away. Usually people would dig in about my past because I became a father when I was still in High School, but this woman is different. She does not say anything about it. It’s like she knows that I would be uncomfortable.
“So, L. C. Bennett?” I change the topic.
“Lara Claire Bennett.” She turns her head to look at me again.
“It’s a pretty name.” I have to compliment her.
“Thanks.” She shrinks into the seat again.
When I stop the car at the traffic lights, I really have the chance to turn my head to take a good look at her. She hides in an oversized track suits. Why does she have to wear such a big clothes? She has an hourglass body that would make every man wants her. Maybe it’s a good idea that she hides that when she goes out. I don’t want people to lay eyes on her perfect body. She has her hair in a half up do and her nails are as red as her beautiful hair.
She was about to catch me drooling, so I quickly looked away. I fix my eyes on the road, pretending that I didn’t enjoy anything at all. She is on her phone, scrolling the screen with her thumb and looking so serious. I want to get a glimpse on her phone, but the green light is alerting that I should get back to driving.
“I am going to drop you at the coffee house and run to the store really quick to get something for Kennedy. I will meet you back at the coffee house.” I turn the car to the coffee house.
“It’s okay. I can go with you. I need to get some yogurts anyway.” She offers. I didn’t expect that.
“Okay.”
I ended up parking the car in the store's parking lot. She gets off first and wait for me in front of the car. Still eyes on her phone. What is on her phone? Her boyfriend? A beautiful girl like her must already have a boyfriend. The thought of it really bothers me.
Lara goes straight to the diary sections, and I am on my way to the women’s hygiene. It’s Kennedy’s first day, and she was freaking out, and I was freaking out. I called my mom and thankfully she was able to calm her down. Since we don’t have a women’s napkin in the house, I have to go get one. I am standing in front of a giant display full of so many kinds of women’s napkins, and I honestly don’t know what to get. This isle is so empty, there is no single person walking down this isle. I really could use some help by now. Screw it. I am going to get one pack of whatever brand it is.
“I don’t think that is perfect for Kennedy.” Lara startles me.
I am at relief. I am sure she can help me out. I don’t know a thing about this. She walks up to me and grabs another pack. My hands automatically are putting back the pack in my hand on to the shelf.
“It’s her first time?” She asks me.
“Yes.” I answer. Embarrassed.
“I am sure she will need this one. It’s thin yet it can absorb well. That one you took earlier does not really have a great air circulation system. She could really get irritated if she had a sensitive skin.”
I could only shake my head and be nothing but embarrassed. I was going to take the pack in her hand but she refused. She claims that it’s better if she is the one who carries that to the register, and I couldn’t agree more.
“Hi, Kyle!” Amy, our noisy neighbor is paying for her stuff.
“Hey!”
“Oh, Hi! Lara!” She smirks. Her eyes are going back and forth between Lara and me.
“Hey, Amy!” Lara hands puts down the pack of woman’s napkin and her yogurts.
“You guys are grocery shopping together. Nice.” Amy sarcastically says that.
“I am just helping him out.” Lara keeps her smile.
“Here you go!” I hand my card to the cashier.
“You guys are already that close, huh?!” She spits.
“Bye, Amy!” I take back my card and grab the bag.
Lara seems taken aback, but she keeps on her silence and walks out with me. Amy is always annoying either when she flirts with me or not. Just like any other woman in this neighborhood.
