Sometimes, I dreamt about things. A life my parents wanted. Some perfect family and an ideal child, where they stayed home unless they had to go to work and doing chores together, anything they wanted to be. Nevertheless, it's impossible. Why? It's not that i'm a useless child who does nothing but laze around. It's something I can't changed.
What they wanted was none other than a girl, which I'm not. Obviously. Everyday was like torture. In a house, alone and cold, with a lot of money to buy foods or anything I wanted. But, it cannot provide warmth I longed for, as a boy and most of all, a child. A thing called normal life. Though, It didn't matter anymore.
My not-so-normal life turned into something. That was the day when I awakened my ability. It was not heroic ability nor is it villainous ones.
I don't know since when I got this ability but I still can't believe something like this exist. Although, it's an old news because two years ago, the government implemented a new law, which I thought— no, the people thought it was absurd. A riot was happening across the country, demanding an explanation to what they up to by making this law.
It was called Stray Protection Act. It said the government will formed a unit to deal with cases involving the strays. A large sum of money was gathered from private business, stocks and many others to sustained them. Nobody knows why they didn't ask the Executive for source of income. But no answer was given.
I don't know much about the law but if this is a superhero story, there's a background story where The Hero started out as the under dog. But through some amazing chance of fate, the hero is given abilities. Abilities most humans would never have. But for this story, it all comes down to a fate. Bad fate.
I have an ability and it's suck. I called it, Doppelganger. The reason was obvious, it's cause there's two of me. Well... kinda. It's not the actual copy of me, but rather more as the ideal person of me. A kind, smart and most of all, it's a girl.
I didn't have anything against her but she's all weak, scaredy cat and can't do shi-- I mean, physical thing. What a lame power.
"Hey, it's not lame! I helped you during math! Do you know how hard it is to get it done and to make the same mistake as you? Because I don't want to be government experimental trial and died. I just got here, you know?" A girl with auburn hair fumed, she was the exact copy of me with a noticeable cut short hair. She cut it to look like me, almost frightening as we looked like we're twins.
Oops, she heard me. As usual, we shared the same thought and feelings but unfortunately, that doesn't apply to knowledge. I wonder why.
"Sure. Besides making me look like a nerd and girly, you did a decent job." She went beet red, almost making me laugh. I put a hand around my mouth as I explained before she managed to utter a response.
"I know, it can't be helped. Don't worry about it," I snorted and she smiled.
"Yeah. As you said, I'm your ideal self although I still wonder why you awakened your power. Not that I mind, but it's really weird."
"I know, but who cares right?" I shrugged. Her eyes scanned me, she looked as if she wanted to argue.
"As expected. But there's one thing, I still don't agree about your theory, that I'm the ideal person of you," I looked at her, not impressed that she didn't get a sarcastic theory I made. I knew what she meant, the correct answer was what I thought an ideal version of me. But it didn't sound cool at all.
"I heard that."
"I meant too. " We went quiet and then laughed together. It was fine, this is who we are and accepting like it's normal. Although one thing went unexpected, it was meeting a stray like us.
