It has been a few days since Nichole had moved into the boys' dormitory. It started out uneventful, and she had hoped to keep it that way until the end of the year.
She rolled over in her bed as her blurry vision noticed the time on the little blue clock on the nightstand.
“Crap!” she hopped off the bed and rushed through her dresser searching for something to put on.
Grabbing the keys to the room, she dashed out of the building. It was late in the day as the sun had already set. Students scurried about the college grounds as they made their way to their night classes.
“Where is this stupid class?” she yelled in frustration as she dashed back and forth across the schoolyard.
“Hey, Nichole!” A familiar voice called out, causing her to freeze mid-step.
She turned to see Sangre running across the schoolyard as he began waving his arm around in the air.
“Oh, hey!” she quickly replied while her eyes darted back and forth across the schoolyard.
“What are you doing here?” he asked as he finally caught up to her, “I didn't know you came back to school already.”
“Yes, I came back yesterday, but I can’t talk right now,” she looked passed him at the building across the yard, “I'm trying to find the Advanced Calculus room.”
“I was heading over there now. Let's go together,” he smiled.
“Sure,” she followed him to a large building on the other side of the campus.
They entered a large classroom that held 30 students. The professor was a tall, busty woman with short curly red hair. Her personality was larger than the obviously two-sizes-too-small clothes she had on.
“Are you sure this is the class? She doesn't look like a calculus professor,” she asked Sangre as she looked for a seat to sit down.
“Yeah,” he whispered as he sat down next to her in the middle of the crowded classroom.
“So, are you going to just follow me around?” a deep voice sounded from the opposite side of her.
She turned to see Deivian in the seat next to her. He was chewing on the end of his stylus while staring at the professor.
“What? No!” she whispered, flustered.
He glanced over at her from the corner of his eye, “Just a coincidence, huh?”
“I guess,” she could feel her cheeks flush.
“Who are you talking to, Nichole?” Sangre asked as he looked passed her.
“It's, um, Deivian,” she quickly pulled out her textbook as she tried to hide her flustered face.
Sangre looked around her and sighed, “Oh.”
Deivian didn't reply as he scribbled down notes on the tablet in front of him. She sat awkwardly between the two as the professor continued to lecture.
Why do I feel so weird? She fidgeted in her seat.
"Are... you okay?" Deivian asked as he noticed her fidgeting.
His very voice was enough to start her heart throbbing. She took a deep breath as she turned to him and forced a smile, “Of course.”
“Should I switch seats?” he whispered to her as she covered her face back up with the book.
“N-no, why?” she replied as she tried to straighten in her seat.
“Cause you seem nervous.”
Is he freaking' kidding me?!
“Do I make you nervous?” he leaned in close to her and whispered in her ear.
His warm breath tickled her ear as his words made every little part of her hot.
Oh no! This is bad! Girl, get a hold of yourself!
He remained steadfast as he whispered in her ear, “Well?”
His voice once again sent a shiver up her spine causing her to lean away a bit too far causing her to fall onto the hard tile floor. The professor paused her lecture as everyone turned towards her.
“Are you okay?!” Sangre reached down to help her up.
“I have to go!” she quickly gathered her stuff and ran out of the classroom.
That was totally embarrassing! I wish there was a hole so I could just jump into it!
She sat on one of the benches that were in the hallway found beside the bathroom. She couldn't bring herself to show her face back in there. Before she knew it, the class was over.
Why am I being so stupid over a guy I barely know?
The bell sounded as the students poured from the classrooms into the halls. Sangre rushed over to her. “What happened in there?”
“Nothing,” she told him as she stood up to leave. She wasn't about to tell him the truth. He would never shut up about it if she had.
“You know that you can talk to me if something is bothering you?” he smiled at her as he accompanied her back to the dormitory.
“I know that... Thanks," she sighed as she was glad that he didn't pressure her further about the situation. He is a good friend after all.
“Oh! I know what it was that I wanted to talk to you about!” he paused in front of the dormitory entrance as he turned to her.
Ugh! I know what you're going to say!
“Can you ask me tomorrow? I am really tired,” she replied as she quickly headed into the dormitory.
“Y-yeah, sure.”
Sorry to run off, San, but I don't need this right now! She did feel bad for leaving him standing there by himself, but she wasn't ready to tell him no.
Sitting in her room, she noticed the light of her phone flashing beside her. Picking it up, she noticed that she had several missed calls from Sangre.
He must be wondering how I'm doing. I'm sorry, Sangre.
“I will call him later,” she sighed, tossing the phone onto the dresser.
The doorknob rustled as it slowly crept open. She stood up in anticipation of an intruder to enter.
“Why are you creeping around?!” she blurted out as Deivian stumbled into the room.
He was dawdling as he clutched his side in pain, "My bad. It was hard to open the door as I got messed up during practice."
“Oh, my God! I'm sorry!” she rushed over to help him to his bed.
“Thanks,” he huffed as he flopped down on the bed.
She quickly tried to assess the wound, “Is there anything I can help you with? I have taken nursing classes during high school.”
“Wow. You really DO... Do everything,” he laughed.
“What is that supposed to mean?” she sat up with a pout; crossing her arms.
“I heard about you from Tish.”
“Tish? Is she your girlfriend?” she blushed, “A-Anyway, you shouldn't believe everything you hear.”
“Yeah, and I guess I shouldn't believe how beautiful you are. Or how smart you are. Or perhaps—” he paused.
She could just imagine how red her face must look right now to him, “S-So, do you need me to help you with anything else?”
He looked at her for a second, and she could see the corners of his mouth starting to form into a devilish grin, “Can you take my shoes off?”
“Uh...” She backed up and looked down at his shoes. They were dirty and full of grass.
Ugh! He has got to be kidding me?! I'm not touching those nasty shoes!
“You asked,” he sat up and smiled down at her as he held out his foot.
“You're right. You're right.”
I want to punch myself for saying something so stupid; she thought as she began to untie his shoelaces.
She took a deep breath as she began to take off his shoes. Ew! So, gross! She pouted.
The dirt and grass covered her as he watched her get all dirty. It wasn't an actual request when he asked her, but he enjoyed watching her, nonetheless.
“There. I'm going to go wash my hands now.”
He finished getting undressed as she went into the bathroom to clean up. She couldn't believe he asked her to do that! She scrubbed the mud and dirt from her hands and nails. When she came out of the bathroom, she saw Deivian fast asleep on his bed. The blanket was only covering his leg.
Wow... He looks so sexy! She looked over his shirtless body as her heart began pounding hard, “Maybe this roommate thing isn't such a bad idea after all...”
