OH how the tables turned!

The Pearl who dissipated thousands, captured twice the number, was herself bound in chains, about to get executed.

The defective Amethyst soldier had stopped coming for training, but so did the others. For them, the Rebellion was halfway through with; only the best prepared for not more than a while. Amethyst, shockingly was invited for training, to which she repeatedly declined. She didn't want to harm Pearl more than she already had. 

Blue Diamond was still mourning over the loss of Pink Diamond, but her tears reduced at the prospect of capturing one of the rebellious gems she had encountered.

Amethyst, in the dead of night used to meet Pearl. At her request, the conversations remained lighthearted. This time however, approaching Pearl, her eyes were downcast and flooded with tears and guilt.

"P-pearl...why?'"

"I don't know, I really don't. But even after all this, if I were to go back and had the chance to relive the moment; I wouldn't change a thing" she gave a weary smile.

"I told you, I did this for you" she gave a smile again

"Wh-why though?" 

"It felt like this right thing to do, Amethyst...you treated me....different, than the others"

"So did you" she mumbled

"See, this is why...I guess" she muttered again, leaning towards the bars.

Amethyst pressed their foreheads together. It felt a bit uncomfortable with the rods pressing into their skin, but her touch was warm enough to melt everything inside her. Pearl looked at her inquisitively

"Pearl, if you get shattered...I don't know what I'll do" 

"Join the rebellion" Pearl said suddenly, then retreating.

"What...?"

"I mean, if you want to..."

"Was this a cheap trick to lure me into joining?" Amethyst questioned suspiciously, though not raising her voice.

"No, it wasn't. If it were I would have gotten you into my mercy the moment you stepped into my territory"

"You already have me at your mercy" she pointed out, her voice turning hoarse

The gazed into each other's eyes the longest of time, searching for something, anything in them. 

Amethyst noticed her eyes reflected the sky, so light, her charm shining like the sun in them. The flame never burned out.

Pearl noticed her eyes reflected the ground; dark, rich, exotic, a certain playfulness layering over tons of emotions that were so easily penetrated out of them towards her, yet she couldn't decipher her message.

The cry of Holly Blue broke them out of their trance. Amethyst pressed a single kiss onto her gem, and promised softly

"I'll come for you"

She rushed away phasing out the redness in her eyes and the afterglow of a good cry.

"You, filthy piece of the Reef. Get out here" a Jasper cried out.

"NEVER" Pearl protested

"It was not a request. Besides, you're helpless" she smirked

Pearl bowed down her head and went out obediently. She felt unnerved to all the faces holding victorious looks and smug grins; but inside, she felt absolutely lost.

It the files of gems stood the Amethyst, her hands forcefully making the signature Diamond salute and her form turning acquiescent for the time being.

Blue Diamond ordered the Pearl to come in front of her

"For centuries I had mourned over the loss of Pink, and had cried endless streams of tears after she was shattered by unfaithful and ungrateful gems like your...Crystal Gems. Now, finally, I get to take revenge on one of her murderous affiliates. And, to shatter the Pearl, I invite none of than the one who had captured her"

Amethyst felt herself freeze, her mind going blank. She must be talking about Holly Blue....right?

"Amethyst 8XM, please, step on the stage"

Her body was in a limbo, her legs moved on their own accord, her hands were as shaky as organic plants during earthquakes. She couldn't think straight.

Stepping on the platform and being shown the ultimatum, she felt her senses blank and lifeless, yet raging like electricity at the same time. Pearl's expression was monotonous, she couldn't make out anything. She lifted her hands, but it was glued to the sky, trembling.

A lot of time had passed. She didn't move an inch, but sweat had formed on her forehead, and it hurt so much she thought she was about to poof. 

Holly Blue stepped beside her

"Oh 8XM if you're not going to start, I'll just do it myself"

She shoved her away and went straight for the kill. Amethyst could not take it anymore. 

She tumbled over the fence and made a mad dash towards her. Pearl's eyes widened- but before she could think anything remotely comprehensible Amethyst made a huge leap towards her. 

"I'm sorry, I can't do this" she gave her a hug

Pearl wrapped her arms around hers too, feeling warmest and securest than she had ever before. Beside the situation, she felt giddy and light, like she were floating. Her was practically melting into her arms.

A huge spark of light was to be seen......

The next time either of them opened their eyes, everything and nothing made sense. 

They were seamed into each other. It felt like a personification of something deep inside them, something that has been there ever since Amethyst first saw Pearl and vice versa. It felt like a conversation, a feeling, an emotion. It felt horrible and wonderful, dumb yet the smartest thing they had done; they felt like nothing and everything.

The new figure looked down at herself. Her skin was the purest colour of grey, like moondust. Her garments were a mess, a poor meld of both Pearl's renegade uniform and Amethyst's soldier one. It seemed fitting, because nothing was coherent to them. 

"Wha...?" and entirely different voice said "Who- Is this...me?"

Soon the surrounding started to fade in. Judgmental remarks infiltrated their ears

"What an embarrassment!"

"Disgusting!"

"This is unheard of!"

The reality of their utopia came crashing in, and no sooner than they heard it they unfused. They laid on the ground, looking at each other in utter disbelief. Blue Diamond's palanquin appeared in front of them

"Amethyst 8XM. How dare you fuse with a traitor" she said, her voice ice cold

"Please, it was my fault. I did the fusing" Pearl interrupted, begging. Before Amethyst could object;

"Clearly" Holly Blue snarled, her eyes vile "I'll take care that your pathetic form does not exist-"

"DON'T TAKE A STEP CLOSER" Amethyst brawled, her eyes showing pure anger and death "I'LL SHATTER YOU"

Holly Blue was taken aback. She then chided a few giggles, as if she was amused by her threat. Soon many others joined with the laughter.

"WHAT ARE YOU ALL LOOKING AT- WHAAAAA.....?"

She felt a firm hand on her wrist and someone dragging her down the Sky Arena. 

"Pearlllll...where are we goingggggg?"

The other didn't omit a single sound. She kept running until the edge of the structure, reaching which she jumped, with the Amethyst in tow....
