The preparations for the banquet were coming along well, and by this time the entire Kingdom had heard of the event. While none other than the nobles were given personal invitations, this banquet was still open to the masses.
Under the guide of Ciacco, the Merchant Guild began setting up large ornate tables under pillars and archways from which the weathermen would sit perched in order to combat the summer heat. Beyond this, popular games were being set up in fields surrounding the main exhibition area, hosting a variety of events, such as, Tribe Hunt and Hero's Task.
Tribe Hunt was a large field event, in which two teams of five members each would chase down a marked player, in mocking fashion of the Tribesmen which surrounded the Kingdoms.
Whereas Tribe Hunt was quite popular among the entire Realm, Hero's Task was specific to the Kingdom of the Left. Often played by children, the "game" was more akin to a play performed in the honor of the Hero who saved the Kingdom a decade ago.
On this particularly sunny day, Virgil sat in a chair formed of his tiny stone golems facing a throne he created for his older brother, Lord Charon.
"Everything is looking great Virgil, I see at least some of my brothers can come together to work for the betterment of our Kingdom. I honestly expected Ciacco to take this harder than he seems to have."
Virgil didn't let his emotions betray his face, even though the mere act of having his brother help hurt his own position, he could still use this time hurt his other brothers' positions.
"Yes, Ciacco has made this easier for me. He must have gathered a considerable debt, in order to help me afford this, especially after giving away all of his money to that blacksmith. Unfortunately, our other brothers have yet to come up with a way to help."
The King smiled broadly back to his brother, "Perhaps we should be happy enough that they show up as guests."
"Perhaps we should! Enough about this banquet though, I heard Cormac has finally unlocked the essence of his Neshamah!"
With this, the King gave a haughty laugh, "Yes he has! He is but a welp at this moment, taking his first steps out in the wilderness. But even my idol, Diablo, recognizes the power he has unlocked. Someday he'll become a predator even greater than I. Then he will take his steps out of that cave he is sheltered in and take back the lands outside of the walls. Hand in hand with our God."
Virgil looked back to the King, "Certainly brother, soon we will take our first strides to establish ourselves as the dominant force among the Realm."
"Yes. I'll give you something to really make this banquet special, let's use this grand event to announce my son as the next heir to the throne, and the man who will take back our rightful lands from the tribesman across the wall."
