Bad omen - Part 3

Bad omen - Part 3

Jul 03, 2020

A metallic figure, the size of four grown men, was sitting in a dark room full of screens.

They were using a pair of fancy black boots that matched with their tight leather pants and long jacket with feathers along the collar, which was unbuttoned, leaving their metallic muscular torso exposed.

The lenses in their eyes were opening and closing slightly, adjusting to the light, while the cables connected to their back, pumped information away from the screens’ light and into the darkness behind the figure.

They fixated on a screen that was switching between a calm day at the beach and a clear sky that contrasted with the murderous atmosphere surrounding the warships.

“So you chose to flip the coin I see…” the figure commented, tapping their fingers on the chair’s arm “Well, they would find the island sooner or later anyway...”

A door opened in the distance, letting in a figure the same size as the god sitting on the armchair, and shedding light among the darkness for a few seconds before being closed.

The sound of metal clicking against metal echoed in the room as the newcomer came closer. The god in the chair didn’t look away from the screens.

Their eyes drifted towards a group of screens showing what could only be described as a cold-blooded massacre. One showed holly books being burned, along with the temple on the screen next to it, another showed a few werewolves trying to stand their ground in vain, as the invading human soldiers hacked and slashed them, this other one showed a werewolf managing to take down some humans, who were chasing the fleeing population through the burning city, before having their throat slashed and guts spilled by a soldier double wielding rapiers...

“Damn, when is that?” the goddess asked, graciously waddling into the light on her needle-like legs, with her arms crossed and holding a cigarette in her left hand.

She brought the cigarette to her silicone lips and breathed it all in, before flicking the butt into the darkness and letting it all out. She stepped closer to the chair, her long, deep blue, satin robe dragging behind her.

“In about two weeks… Probably. It still isn't set.”

“You know… Pandemic and I have been talking, and we think that maybe we should become a little more proactive, instead of just letting the whole butterfly effect take care of those pricks?” She snapped her fingers, making a lit cigarette appear between them “At this rhythm, our people will lose all faith in us and-”

“We were never about faith or adoration.” they reminded her, while trying to shake away the vision of a future where their brother’s creations slowly lost their ability to think for themselves, and succumbed to sloth, relying entirely on the god and their siblings for survival, along with a possible future, where trying to save their followers, would just get them and their siblings captured by their enemies “Our job is to perpetuate this world and the life in it, not have people kissing our feet...”

“Well, maybe some of us like a little ‘thank you’ from time to time for stopping the universe from killing itself!” she snapped, crushing the cigarette in her hand and throwing it away “But anyway…” She fixed her blond curly polyester hair “she created a new virus that might keep humans busy for a while--”

“No. Pandemic’s creations can be unstable and unpredictable,” they said firmly “And what guarantees you that this thing won’t mutate and infect Fauna’s creations too? Remember the stone plague?”

“Well…”

“And what about succubi and incubi? If the humans invade one of their communities, while carrying one of her creations, their immune systems won’t keep them alive long enough for them to even scream.”

“Yeah... I guess you do have a point… Still, don’t you think we should at least try to help them? They are being massacred out there.”

“Don’t worry, our plan will come to completion soon, just a few more months, and the angels will be on their knees…” They guaranteed calmly.

“I still don’t feel right just standing around and- What the?!” she exclaimed, taking a step back as all the screens filled with fire and death before shutting down, sending sparks flying behind them “What the hell?!” She summoned a ball of light and examined the screens before noticing her sibling had slumped over on the armchair. “Time?” She approached them and shook their shoulders slightly, making them release a painful moan.

“Too much… What have you done?” they cried in pain.

“I didn’t do anything--” The screens came back to life, catching her attention.

They were all working together to show a menacing figure looking down at the siblings with anger and disgust-filled eyes. They were using a hood drenched in blood and ash, making it hard to distinguish anything besides their brown eyes and a nasty scar across their face. Behind them, loomed a gigantic army of disfigured humans with sharp teeth and nails and bloodshot famished eyes.

“That kid… has to die… now…” Time managed to mumble before passing out, making the screens go dark again.

“What kid?” she asked, shaking them “Hey, wake up!” she demanded in panic “Time! Wake up!”

I know this seems bad... but the future isn't set in stone so... Nah, they're so dead.
