The Crow of Descent

The Asylum - Part 2

The Asylum - Part 2

Jul 10, 2020

Wayward Psychiatric Hospital

Alysine was lying on what was supposed to be her bed, a rectangular piece of furniture adorned with thin sheets, a worn down blanket, and two flat pillows with tethered cases. Several hours seemed to have withered by since her display of defiance against the system, yet the drug that one of the nurses gave her still flowed through her veins.

"Stubidhosbital..." Alysine swore, her words still slurring together. "Uselessadults... bhsycoharrison..."

With a sigh of frustration, the young girl would close her eyes, wishing for the darkness to pull her under once more. From one's perspective, the only source of light was from the waning moon outside, casting a faint but luminous glow into the room she considered as a prison.

"Not... crazy," she'd mumble sleepily. "Wanna... gohome...."

After confirming that the mortal child was unconscious once again, he took out a cellular device and dialed a number that wasn't saved in his contacts.

"Ah, Callum," a voice from the other end greeted. "Have you already met her?"

"Not exactly, sir," he replied. "When I arrived, I was told that the girl was sedated due to an incident that had occurred earlier in the day."

"What type of incident was it, if I might ask?"

"From the report I received from Doctor Elliot Harrison, she apparently tried to throw one of the facility's nurses out of a window," Callum said. "Not only that, but she didn't touch the nurse physically."

"Interesting. So Miss Alysine started displaying signs of telekinesis?"

"It seems so, sir. I'll start digging into her file tomorrow to see if there were any other incidents like the one from today."

"Already doing your research, then? Not surprising when it's someone like you, Callum."

"Thank you, sir."

"You don't have to thank me. Just remember to focus on the true task at hand, my dear prodigy."

"I won't forget, sir."

"Good, good. I'll expect you to relay the information back to me soon."

Before the young man could reply, he heard the phone click, indicating that the connection had be cut. Grunting, he shoved the phone into his pant pocket and took the stairs to the first floor, where several of the personnel stayed overnight.

Out of the seven billion mortals on Earth, why do I have to be assigned to a teen-aged one?
