Part Fourteen
"How was work?" I happily asked when Walker stepped through the door.
"Good actually. That art app is coming along great." I loved this, waiting for him to get back from work. But I was so bored during the day so I took a stroll along the beach. I had iced coffee from a street vendor and ate fries smothered in cheese. It. Was. Lush. I even went and dipped my feet in the clear water. It was a little cold, but I didn't care. I made the most of my day. I even met a couple and their cute baby girl.
"I've decided." I said as I started unbuttoning Walkers shirt.
"What have you decided? Do I need to be scared?"
"Nope, pull your arms out," he did as instructed, grinning the whole time. "I met a couple on my walk today. So, I've decided I want a baby girl."
"Okay, but you don't really get a choice."
"I know," I mumbled as I undid his fly to his neatly pressed trousers. "But I'm hoping...oh, Hope's a nice name."
"It's a beautiful name, but why are you stripping me at the door?"
"We have dinner with Hilary."
"Oh yeah and there was me hoping I was going to get sex."
"Later, I promise. Right now I want to go see Hilary and meet her husband, he sounds nice."
"He is. I've known him a while."
I stepped back marvelling at the man in front of me almost naked. "Get dressed."
"I was dressed, now I'm half naked with my trousers at my ankles and I'm not even getting laid, like what?"
"Funny funny walker. Go change into something else." He'd started pouting and as much as I want him in me, I wanted to go see Hilary. So I followed him to the bedroom as he sulked while going through his wardrobe.
"Oh, I set you up at my doctors practice on my lunch break and made an appointment for next week."
"Cool, great. Get dressed."
"I am, jeez you're impatient."
"Yep." So I sat and watched him. I didn't know anyone here and I'm not counting Craig because he's an ass. I needed a friend and I knew Hilary would be a good friend and an outlet for me. She knew a lot in the very short time I met her. She listened to me and she didn't judge me. Those kinds of people are very few and far between so I was going to make the most of it.
"Soon we'll see the baby." He announced.
"I know. But I read in one of those books that it will be like teeny tiny."
"I've noticed you've not been sick."
"No, your right. Maybe I'm more than twelve weeks now."
"Possibly. I can't wait though. I told a couple of guys at my place I was having a baby."
"Really? What did they say?"
"Congratulations. Who stole your heart? Can we meet your partner? Things like that."
"What did you say?"
"I said when you're ready to, because you're still getting used to living here."
"Well, yeah I am." I sounded really nervous and Walker sat next to me. I exhaled my hesitations and inhaled all the strength I could take in. His hands rubbed long, slow passes over my back to soothe me. His touch had magic in it and, in that moment, I needed his strength. I needed him. I was still afraid of what people would say if they found out who and what I was.
"I'm almost dressed. Let's get to Hilary's. She's non stop been mentioning it. But as soon as I left work, it kind of left my mind."
"If you don't want to go…."
"Nope, stop. I do, it's been awhile since I've seen Danny anyway. He'll have so many stories for you too."
"Funny ones?"
"So stupidly funny. You'll love it."
I smiled. I wanted to hear stories about Walker. Funny stories. I'd get to know him through other people and not just him. "Will I meet your parents soon?"
He got up and quickly put a t-shirt on and tucked a small amount into the front of his skinny jeans. "Soon, yeah. I just needed to break the news to them first," I could clearly see his apprehension. I'll ask him why later, It might have something to do with those scars on his back. "Shall we get going? You look like you've been ready for a while." I nodded my reply. I hope his parents don't hate me. I trusted that together we’d be able to handle anything. Being in love might pack on twice as much trouble, but being in love with the right person….well, that’s when you never have to carry anything alone. "Where are you going?"
I looked up at Walker looking down at me, smiling. "Sorry, I'll get out of my head."
"I love your head, your brain is a different matter though. But it will be good, everything will be so damn good." Walker had said, pulling me up. The conviction in his voice demanded I believe him. The look in his eyes left no room for doubt. Things were lining up, well, a little differently than we planned but it was clear where we needed to be. The anchor reinforced that for me and reminded me of one step I was willing to hop over. One that would ensure we’d be together, from this day forward. From everyday forward.
I sighed as we finally got on the road to Hilary's. It seemed like she didn't live right on the beach like Walker. We were going further into the suburbs and even bigger houses, with equally big ass gardens and drives. Full of very expensive cars. I'd been to a lot of places in and around Europe, but never anything like this. This was a shock. The money here was unreal, that was clear and also pretty terrifying. "Got some real rich people here, huh?"
"Yeah, extremely."
"Holy shit, does Hilary live in a house like these?"
"Yeah. Danny now runs his father's company. They buy and also invest in other companies all over the world. They just bought a winery in France."
"Jesus."
"But they're good people."
"Hilary is good," I said, smiling to myself. "She works at your company?"
"Yeah, she's actually my secretary. I hired her because as much as she loves Danny, she didn't want to work at his company."
"Why?"
"She doesn't get on with his mother."
"Oh," I thought. "Why?"
Walker flicked the turn signal, turning onto another road with more huge houses, but a lot less. "His mother didn't like that he fell in love with an Omega. His father loves her, but his mom is a bitch. Always has been."
"How long have you known Danny?"
"About fifteen years."
"Oh fuck! All this time and I don't even know how old you are. Oh my god, how stupid."
He chuckled. "I'm twenty nine. Born in july."
"Ah, I see."
"And?"
"And what?"
"What about you? All I know is your parents have horses you don't like and you're unbelievably horny, and your date of birth. So tell me a little more about you."
"Funny. Well, you missed my birthday by the way," he laughed. "My parents are originally from Finland, but settled in england."
"Yeah, I love your accent. Can you speak Finnish?"
"My accent is British and yes of course I can."
"Go on."
"Right now?"
"Yeah, right now."
"Haluan syödä sinut."
"So damn sexy. What did you say?"
I giggled and put my feet up on his dash, getting myself comfortable. "I said, I want to eat you."
"Fucking hell Marcus. You gotta talk to me more in Finnish." Walker was laughing and enjoying me. I was getting used to him and all his different smiles and laughs.
"Okay, but I'm a little rusty. I grew up with English. Although my parents would speak Finnish, they mainly spoke in English. But I remember something my mother would say to me. Elämä on mitä teet sen. Hyödynnä aurinkoa. Life is what you make it. Embrace the sun."
"That's beautiful," he said turning into a large driveway. "Do you still talk to your parents?"
"Occasionally. Letting them know their son is still breathing. But it's been quite a while since I last spoke to them."
"Are they Alpha's?"
"Yes. But not like mega rich or anything. Just comfortable."
"Do they know what you used to do?"
"No. I'd tell them I was traveling with friends and working in bars and stuff. I was just not on the other side of the bar."
He smiled and gently ran his hand over my knee. "Shall we go in?"
"Oh right, nice house." I looked out the window at the house and it was large, elegant, Georgian fronted. The door was already open and I saw Hilary, clutching a small infant on her hip. I almost squealed in excitement and jumped from the car. She gave me a huge smile, a warm and very welcoming huge smile. This is going to be a really good afternoon and hopefully we'd stay well into the night too. Walker has a day off tomorrow and I intended on making the most of this time with him and his friends. I was going to learn a lot being here, not just about Walker, but myself too and kids. God! Kids, two of them. This is going to test me and hoped to god I ace it.
