"I-I don't understand..." the girl said, not knowing what the host meant by that.
Without understanding what was going on there, and without any further explanation from Master Druko about his quote, the little verozean lady still observed the coldness with which he took the situation in the present, without knowing very well what to do from there.
"And you were doing it wrong," Druko said without taking his eyes off his book.
The girl remained even more confused.
"Wh-What do you-"
"Your power. Your scales," he added. "You need to be sure about using it, or it will backfire on your judgment. A cloudy mind will only get in your way."
After what Druko said, the girl became speechless. She thought about the scales coming out of her wrists for a second, realizing that she couldn’t control it in that faithful moment.
The little verozean lady now stared at her hands for an instant. She analyzed the marks left on her skin after using her power, only to remember that she failed to use it properly to keep on living for her mother.
Now, she clenched her fingers in a fist of determination, lowering it down as she mentalized what she was going to do next.
Even with his sentences, her kidnapper seemed immeasurably indifferent to her presence in his home of wealth, and he barely seemed to care what she did or did not do on that strange occasion.
From there, she slowly simulated the first steps away from her old seat, never taking her attention away from her kidnapper's eyes, since she greatly feared his next reaction.
But nothing came to interrupt her.
A few more steps taken and she - a little surer of herself - turned around and looked for the exit, quickly spotted.
She believed that this would be the end to this nightmarish day, and even though she still walked to the humble open exit that the night brought, some relief ran through the veins of the girl who sought liberation.
The breeze of darkness already reached her as she approached the external environment, but something prevented her from moving on.
"Careful," Master Druko's deep voice warned. "I wouldn't do that."
The little verozean lady immediately froze. Her next step stopped right in the air, and her eyes widened.
It took her a while to acquire the audacity to look back and find the speaker, hoping to suffer adequate punishment for her unauthorized escape.
"Wh-why?" she asked when she saw that the four-horned verozean had not even moved from his seat, let alone removed his golden gaze from the book he was reading. "W-What are you going to do... to me?"
