Druko then sighed in dismay. He closed his eyes briefly to say his next words.
"I will do nothing," always very calm, he articulated explanations. "It's night already, so is very likely that the malicious ones are still lurking. This house is distant from the other neighborhoods, and it is notorious that there will not be many people on the streets at this hour.”
Now, the verozean's severe gaze found the girl's frightened countenance, penetrating deep into that fragile conscience.
"Here you will be protected for today, and that sofa is particularly comfortable," finally, with his hand unoccupied, Druko pointed to the old seat of the guest. "Feel free to use it."
Finishing his sentences, the golden gaze returned to absorb the writing on the papers of the book at hand, without showing any interest in knowing whether the girl would accept the offer or not.
She, in turn, was paralyzed by surprise.
Without understanding where such goodness came from an individual so vicious, the girl could not believe what she heard.
She hoped that out of that arrogant character would come the worst evils and filth she could imagine in life since rumors narrated how violent he could be when he wanted to.
Although she still didn't fully trust that there would be some dirty trick behind that offer, she recognized that he was right. To go out that night on those deserted streets with her shaken confidence would be to ask for even worse occasions.
Even so, she didn’t have the safety of her mother anymore.
Now, she was truly alone.
She didn't have much of a choice, and as much as she felt threatened, she could get a little more security staying in that luxurious house, away from the general population.
The girl turned around and soon returned to the couch on which she was initially seated. Her eyes no longer left that mysterious personality that was indifferent in front of her, trying to demystify who Master Druko really was behind so many rumors about him.
Certainly, she could see that he couldn't be as horrible as they said, even if the night wasn't over yet. At least, he brought a little warmth to the frightened soul of an extremely innocent girl.
A weak smile crossed her reassured lips.
"I-I'm Nukaya," she said. "T-Thank you for saving me..."
The verozean girl could feel the drowsiness gradually contaminate her and abduct the rest of her energies, causing her body to collapse on the fabric of the couch.
She was at ease, even though her eyes struggled to remain open to witness the beauty and elegance of the youngest son of the most respected of the High Masters. He was a tireless scene to behold, in the small harmonious gestures that he devised in his subconscious realm. His image took her to the world of the sweetest and deepest dreams, where she could rest from all the cruelty that existed in the inhuman reality of Verozys.
She slept like a little girl, exhausted from playing, leaving aside her naive childish chores to acquire a bed on the clouds of unconscious creativity.
At that very moment, noticing his guest's numbness, Druko closed his book.
