2 days have passed. I’m stuck in Opal’s room. When I move my body sends static surging. I wanted to move, I wanted to walk around, “Novus you’re improving everyday. You’ll come around eventually.” Opal tells me,
Yana still hasn’t come to visit me. That or Opal won’t let her. Rave comes in periodically, “I’m just making sure you’re not dead or anything.”
I honestly appreciate it. Radial comes in every 5 hours, “Novus, Yanamarie wants to make sure you’re okay.” In a way, she’s here. I can feel it.
Sometimes I start to panic, it becomes hard to breathe and Opal has to bring Liam in to use Soulmate Touch. He never says anything, only touches my hand, you can tell he’s uncomfortable.
5 days have passed, no one has visited me. I’m forgotten, “Princess. How are you?” my heart skips a beat, and my eyes are drawn to the door. Yanamarie stands with her arms crossed, smiling slightly,
“I’m here.” there is a silence, Yana treads slowly, then plops down on Opal’s bed.
She laughs slightly, “Has Opal been sleeping here with you?”
I shake my head, “She doesn’t sleep. This room is basically for all of her clothes and medical tools.”
“Doesn’t sleep?” Yana says, “there can’t be that many ill people in this castle.”
“Opal. Tends to overwork herself, we all try our best to help her, Rave especially, but she’s a loner.”
Silence, “She wouldn’t like me on her bed would she?”
“I don’t mind,” the words came out so quickly I didn’t even realize what I was saying, “I mean, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind.”
Yana smiles, then it drifts away as she stares into the darkness, “You probably, don’t want me around now that you know I’m your Soulmate.”
I shake my head, “No, that’s not it, I don’t like Liam as my Soulmate because he doesn’t understand boundaries, he's obsessed with the idea that someone was destined to be with him. You..”
“I push myself away, I don’t like the idea of Soulmates, Rave does the same thing.” Yana mumbles,
“Rave is different, I love him, but right now he’s in a place where neither of us are growing and becoming better being with each other. Maybe someday, but not now.”
Yana takes a deep breath and grips on my sleeve, being careful not to touch my skin, our eyes meet and she smiles, “Let’s get out of here.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Let’s go outside, you look like you can use some air. Maybe, show me around your nice little country.”
Was this an excuse to get me out of this room? I’m so tired of simply sitting here waiting for the all clear from Opal. I shake my head, “Opal wouldn’t like it. She hasn’t said I’m clear yet.”
“Is Opal your mom or something? Novus you’re an adult now, I’m just taking you for a small walk. Is that so terrible?”
“I suppose not,” I say, I reach for Yana’s hand, she flinches, I pull back. An awkward silence fills the room. I search around looking for something, “Raisa, uses gloves.”
Yana nods, and within a moment gloves appear onto her hands, “A wonderful idea.”
I grab her hands, she pulls me up off of the bed, then takes her hand tightly wrapped in her gloves and touches my arm, changing my whole outfit, “Where did you learn a Crystillian spell?”
She grins, “Well, when you’ve been around Crystillians all your life it becomes second nature,” Yana leans in her face dangerously close to mine, “someone you know taught me years ago.”
At that moment she takes my hand and drags me up the stairs and into the outside. I flinch slightly due to the sunlight coming directly into my eyes. Yana laughs and lets go of my hand. I rub my eyes so hard I begin to see stars, “Natural sunlight hurts, who knew I would be a creature of the night.”
By the time I could open my eyes without squinting we reached the village. Brick Houses built around the area, never disturbing the trees. The wind periodically causes leaves to fall around someone yard, in which a young child doing chores would sigh in defeat after just perfectly creating a pile. A father laughs patting the child on their head, allowing them to go inside. It was a windy day after all. Yana’s eyes constantly moved exploring a town full of small children running around playing made up games. A child runs behind them and trips, the rest run off, but one stays helping the one that tripped off the ground. We continue, a store of produce lays in front of us. Mothers, fathers, children, workers, others running in and out. A child cried leaving the store saying it wasn’t fair how their sibling got a more expensive treat than they did. Rainbow’s bar was open right next to the store. Yana stayed back, refusing to enter. She probably felt bad for the incident a couple weeks back. We move on, and in the distance the Equestrian tree in full bloom shines it brillant different colors, changing every moment it can. Yana walks up touching the tree, a burst of pollen causes the tree to shed its leaves and blow into the ocean below us. Yana stares in amazement, I do too, but not at the leaves, something else caught my eye. Yana takes my hand smiling with such a brillances, I couldn’t help but smile with her. She drags me into the darker part of town. Bloodstains still covered some bricks, the grass crunches everywhere you walk. Grunts and moans from this area caused me to pause, realizing how much work still needed to be done as queen. Yana squeezes my hand bringing me back to reality. In front of me sat a child, holding a dark rabbit, she looks up at us, I take a deep breath and sit beside her, “What’s your name?” the young child hugs her knees, refusing to open her eyes. A scar shined across her face, over her eyes. She was blind,
“Um, Asha. Asha Whittale,” Yana kneels down hesitates then rubs Asha’s hand, “you have a nice light ma’am.” Yana flinches then pulls away,
“I don’t, but thank you for the kind words.” I twirl my fingers,
“Asha, do you have a home?” she shakes her head, I take a deep breath looking at Yana, who seemed fixated on Asha, “why don’t you come back with us, and live with my friend.”
“Not now,” Asha says, “Midnight says it’s not the right time.” the black rabbit jumps onto Asha’s shoulder, her smile grows each time her hand strokes the tiny animal. Yana tilts her head,
“Is this..Midnight?” Asha nods, Yana grabs my arm pulling me over towards her, the soft fabric of her gloves rub against me, “This girl is a paradox. Just like Xeno, I don’t think she was made like him, but she’s definitely not from this time.”
I look at Asha, “I’m blind, not deaf I can hear you.”
Yana jumps, “Then answer my question.”
“It’s true, I’m not from this time, but I am here now in this time with no power to control it.”
Yana crosses her arms, “You sound oddly mature for a young child.”
“Age is different for everyone. Perhaps you’ve heard the legend of Novillia?” Asha pauses smiling, “or perhaps that hasn’t come to pass yet.”
“What are you talking about?” She has my attention now, but she waves her hand pushing my attention to someone else,
“Another player enters the game.”
Kahn walks up pushing Yana out of the way and towers over me, “Novillia. Are you going to join our lovely little meeting? Or are you going to stay in such an awful place.”
“Meeting? I couldn’t even move until yesterday, have Rave take over!”
Kahn stares at me, a grin crawls upon his face, “Well if you’re feeling well enough to mess around with such a disgrace such as Yanamaire you’re well enough to come and sit at a meeting.”
Yana slinks back clutching her arms, she’s uncomfortable, “Leave Yana out of this.”
“I’m sorry, am I saying something wrong? Am I hurting an Unspokens feelings?”
Yana shakes her head and grabs Kahn’s arm, “That’s enough!”
Kahn pushes Yana into a wall and slaps her, “Don’t touch me!” he turns to me, I fall back, “Eden and you are exactly the same! You always make your own decisions without thinking about others! It’s so obvious you’re her daughter, it's ridiculous!”
“What?” The world goes silent, and becomes tighter in this alley. Asha fled, Yana begins yelling at Kahn, but I can’t hear anything. My mother, Kahn personally knew my mother? Kahn begins to walk off I reach for him, “Stop it!” and I felt something that made me nausea: darkness. It was following me, attempting to consume me in a moment of doubt. Kahn continued, “STOP.” The world freezes, a bright light shone from my hand. Trying to fight the darkness,
“You can’t even summon your angel wings. Why should I tell you anything about your past.”
“Because that’s my family damnit! Years of being abused by a fake family to find out my real family is still alive!” A light shone in my left hand, while darkness echoed through my right. My back hurt, the two conflicting semblances.
“Novus,” Yana grabbed my hands, our eyes show a bright blue, the pain goes away, and I fall to the floor, “look behind you.”
Kahn turns around facing me, his eyes grow wide, I look around at my back, feathers float around a white feather falls into my hand, a black feather falls to the floor, “Wings?”
“I suppose, I was mistaken.” Before I could move, Kahn was already gone, Leaving a trail of feathers behind, leaving Yana and me behind.
“Novus your back is covered in blood. Are you okay? Do you need Opal?” Yana squeezes my hand our blue shines brighter,
“Go home Yana, get Opal. I don’t think I’m supposed to feel this nausea.”
“I’m not leaving you.”
“Go, please. I’ll be okay.”
Yana stands up, the pain enters as she lets go of my hand, I cover my mouth, “I’ll be back soon.”
In a twist she’s gone. I lay on the dirt floor attempting to not let the pain get to me. Tears well up in my eyes and turn the dirt into mud. The world turns blurry, and the I feel someone touching my head, “Let the Legend of Novillia begin.”
The pain was gone. I glance around, and Opal runs up hugging me, “Novus! You can’t just leave like that!” She pauses, “you’re, arm. It’s completely stitched up.”
“That wasn’t you?” I say,
“No,” Opal shakes her head, “I just got here.”
She helps me up, and begins to inspect me, tells me that surprisingly there wasn’t even a trace of blood on my body. We begin to walk home, but before we leave the alleyway. I see a rabbit sitting across the way, watching me closely.
