Three days after my date with Daemon Jasper texted me.
He asked to meet for lunch, so I sat in front of our favorite restaurant waiting for him.
“Hey Kai, bet you’re hungry huh?”
Jas was smiling his bright smile, wearing a white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, gray slacks, with his hair messed up from moving his hand through it. He must’ve finished his shift where he interns at. I stood up ready for our final battle before one of us waved the white flag. But, before I could even get my game face on his arms were wrapped around me,
“I have missed my best friend! Reach into my back pocket, I have something for you.”
His voice was full of joy and I was curious to see what he got me. I slid my hands around him and felt it!
A Wrapper?
I jerked my hand back around to see my surprise,
“Sour Apple Punch Straws?! You’re the BEST Jas!”
Pure delight in my voice.
“Haha I knew you would, you always want sour candy after we make up.”
He had his normal smile which filled my days with joy,
“Who said I came to make up with you?”
I didn’t plan to give in so easily.
“Well since I think it would be weird to carry a flag around, I decided to wear a white shirt instead.”
He sounded so methodical. I had planned to be rude and pout until he waved the white flag first but there was no way I could keep being mean after that response.
“Haha okay! Let’s go eat, I’m tired of not having you around!”
I laughed as we entered the restaurant. We made it to our seats and placed our orders. As we had finished our small talk the real questions came as our food arrived.
“So, was that piece of ass really worth pissing me off?”
I joked with him as he took a bite.
“Hmm? Piece of—oh! Absolutely, any piece of ass is worth it to a “spineless playboy pig” like me.”
He jokingly glared at me. I stopped mid bite,
“Spineless playboy pig”? Who would ever call you that?”
“Hmm, you did Kai.”
He looked at me accusingly.
“What?!”
My eyes got wide for a minute
“I am SHOCKED! I would never, I could never!”
I responded to him almost offended,
“Bullshit! I know you remember calling me that because you’re trying not to laugh right now!”
There was no fooling him, he caught me.
“Don’t act like one and I won’t call you one.”
I chuckled in response.
“Whatever, you lose your temper too much. Anyway, what did you do these last few days?”
He continued our conversation.
“Um, saw a movie and then did nothing.”
I may have left out a couple details, but it was mostly the truth.
“A movie? By yourself? Wow, you really were mad at me.”
He sounded a little too happy about my (not so) isolation.
“Ha, yeah.”
I sounded a little guilty and he looked at me suspiciously,
“Anyway, where are we meeting tomorrow?”
I changed the subject as fast as I could.
“A bar, I’ll pick you up. It’s more of a dress up place so cocktail attire will be appropriate.”
Jas didn’t even stop to question me. After finishing our meal, we started walking when my phone went off.
