When Thursday finally arrived he spent the whole day sitting next to his cell phone. He became extremely anxious. What if he didn`t get the job? What if she saw through his lie? What if-
The other jobs at the cafes wouldn´t make enough money to enable him to move out fast and even there chances were he wouldn`t get the jobs.
Breath in. Breath out.
He needed to calm down. It would (probably) be okay.
When Dolly called he practically jumped at his cell phone.
"Hello?"
"Ah hello, Adlai. I wanted to inform you that you got the position! I think you will fit it just perfect. You will start on Monday; I will still be there for a few days showing you the ropes. Hours change from week to week, but I`m sure you will manage. I can draw you up a schedule too, if you`d like. We can discuss payment concretely on Monday in person."
Then she finally stopped to speak for a second so that Adlai could get a word in.
"Thank you so much, Dolly!"
"Oh hush. I´ll see you on Monday at eight. Have a lovely weekend!"
"You too, Dolly."
And the call ended.
He was freed. He got the position. His problems (most of thenm anyway) would be solved.
But he felt bad nontheless. Dolly seemed so sincere and he lied to her. Used her.

It was Monday and Adlai stood in front of the skyscraper in which Holub Corp. was located. The building reflected the grey clouds that hung on the sky today and made it seem even more intimidating. People rushed by into the building and when it started to rain he moved too.
It was a beautiful lobby. Bright colours let it seem lively and welcoming. Flower arrangements on all surfaces added to this feeling. It all stood in contrast with the dark and stormy look the weather had created outside. Still standing close to the entrance he eventually moved to the front desk.
"I`m here to see Ms. Harper." He stated. The woman behind the desk looked up.
"Ah yes. She mentioned a Mr. Dean coming by today. That is you?"
"That`s right, ma`am."
"Oh and so polite too. Go ahead, honey, take the elevator to the tenth floor. I will inform Dolly that you`re coming up."
"Thank you."
He gave a curt nod and went over to the elevator. Once he was up and out of the packed elevator he was faced with a wide open office space, in the back of which some more secluded rooms where located. He`d take those rooms for offices belonging to the higher-ups. That`s where he would most definitely find Dolly.
