My body went limp and my eyes went to the floor, neck pushed out. All the rules coming back and hitting me full force, my need for pack acceptance and for this Alpha to let me go was startling. My wolf wanted to be belly, wanted him to scent mark us, wanted to be in his good graces. But my sane mind wanted all that from our Alpha, not this trespasser.
The thought had me reeling and my wolf suppressed a growl. 'Be good!' My wolfs intentions were clear, but instead of listening, I forced the growl out and turned my head back up, my green eyes clashing with his grey ones, mine challenging his wolf, challenging this Alpha.
"Why you little shit!" Ben the other wolf who had walked in beside this Alpha stated in shock, a slightly humorous tone to his voice.
I didn't allow my gaze to waiver. This Alpha was the definition of wild. His brown hair fell past his shoulders in loose roughed up curls, his height was staggering compared to my own and rivaled my Alphas. He was built, thick muscles struggled against his black shirt, his legs clad in form-fitting jeans. His face was hard, the beard he sported didn't take away from his high cheekbones and chiseled jaw. His eyebrows were arched perfectly sporting a small scar over the right. His nose was perfectly aligned and his lips were curved into a smirk. Taunting. Those grey eyes were vibrant against his tan skin. This wolf has seen war, those eyes enjoyed a fight, wild and untamed. Yet he looked young.
I felt the beast in me surge forward, the medicine keeping my pain and the heat I was experiencing in check seemed to have worn off when this beast of a wolf entered.
I continued to growl and flash my fangs at him. He didn't move, didn't blink, he just held my gaze with that smirk. The two other occupants in the room said nothing nor did they move. Their Alpha was being challenged, and they had no right to interfere.
I tugged at my restraints, I felt anger course through me as visions of what he had possibly done to my Alpha and the pack. The possibility that innocent blood stained his massive hands had my blood pounding in my ears. My wolf paced, it felt my distress but I felt his yearning for this male.
My growl intensified as the Alpha took one step forward, intimidation. My body pulsed, I felt weird, I wasn't sure what I was experiencing but I tried my best to focus.
"Lower your eyes!" The healer finally spoke but in a whisper. She wasn't amused unlike Ben, who seemed to be leaning against the wall, arms folded with a stupid grin on his face. "You are in no condition to challenge him!" I continued to ignore her.
"Levi, release him." A shiver ran down my spine at his command. His baritone voice was rough but it held promise.
"Kain, he's in heat and scared, don't take his challenge seriously." The healer was trying to reason but the Alpha didn't acknowledge her words. After a momentary pause, I felt Levi's hands work at my restraints. Adrenaline started to course through my body as she unbuckled me. The moment the last one was undone I shot to my feet, stumbling as I did. My legs were still a mess but I refused to let it hinder me. I've had worse and been made to do chores, I could find a way out of this situation too.
My wolf was still urging me to submit to this wolf, but looking to the window my heart stopped. The blinds were pulled back showcasing a dark sky. It distracted my wolfs urging and before I could even think about the challenge I had initiated, I took off for that window. My beaten body, long forgotten, as I pushed forward. My destination clear. I felt my shift begin but just as I made it to the window I felt teeth sink into the back of my neck, preventing my shift, preventing me from freedom.
'No!' I screamed in my head, my wolf howling in anger.
I struggled against the hold, I knew it was the Alpha who grabbed me, I could feel his overwhelming presence behind me, could clearly feel his canines in my flesh. It sent shivers through me, made me want something, increasing the heat that was raging throughout my body, but I didn't care about that. My wolf wanted his run, wanted his moment, I wanted to give him that, wanted to see what was outside.
He growled low, a warning that I didn't listen to, my claws extended and I reached back and was able to make contact with his side. He didn't flinch, but his growl intensified. A shake to my neck, I let my own growl come forth, warning him. I wasn't sure what I was warning him about, but my wolf felt some sort of power over his. He wanted to me belly up but there was a stronger urge that he wanted from this male and my wolf was convinced we were in the right.
I felt my body collide with the floor as the Alpha forced us down. My breath left me in a rush as my chest slammed into the wood floor. His teeth retracted and I was flipped over and met with blazing amber eyes. His wolf was at the surface and pissed.
I let a growl tear through my mouth my own eyes probably blazing the same amber as his. My wolf now was with me in our challenge.
Before I could struggle again he bent down to my neck and I felt his scent wash over me, I froze. All of my strugglings seized.
'Pack!'
His hands gripped mine to the side and I just stared wide-eyed at the ceiling. I wasn't sure what was happening but I also knew what was happening, my wolf knew.
It didn't take much for a wolf to be scent marked, the Alpha simply bathed the other wolf in their scent imprinting their smell onto them while imprinting the other wolfs smell into memory. I would be recognized as Pack to him and his pack. I was his pack.
My wolf howled in delight, but I didn't feel the same. I didn't want this Alpha, I wanted my Alpha. I didn't know his rules, I didn't know what I was allowed to do, I didn't know who would be in charge of my punishments, I didn't know.
Alpha Kain moved his head up and when our eyes met I averted mine.
Don't make eye contact.
I would be safer to keep to the rules of my former pack and adjust them when I'm informed of the new rules. He didn't finish the marking, I was temporary, the link to the pack hadn't been given to me. My wolf felt incomplete but content. This was more than what we had been given before.
Now that I was calmer and the shock of the situation over my bodies condition finally caught up to me. A keening whine filled the room. I knew it was from me and I couldn't stop it. I needed more, but what I needed more of was lost to me. Instinct told me I wanted someone's touch, it called for it. My sane mine however didn't want that.
Alpha slowly stood, his smell now intoxicating, his nostrils flared as he took in the smell of the room.
"Levi, get him something." I turned my head to the side so I couldn't see his face anymore. I wanted him back on top of me where his scent and body had evaded mine. I wanted his hands holding me down.
My wolf wanted it too.
Closing my eyes I willed myself to stop.
"I cannot. I've already given him a dose and it would be too dangerous to give him another. He's too malnourished." Levi's voice was firm and I was slightly surprised with how she addressed him. My Alpha would have never allowed that from anyone but the Beta, even the Luna had been slapped once for telling him no.
"Then take him back down to the dungeon. An unmated omega is going to be too distracting." The dungeon? Again? Was I really that much trouble?
"Ah come on Kain." I slowly sat up, eyes still cast downwards. I didn't want to go back to the dungeon and Ben seemed to have sensed that. I quickly looked up at him as he walked toward Kain.
"It's not fair to put him back down there. Didn't that Beta say that he could handle him? Maybe he was supposed to claim him? It would explain why his scent was in the dungeon." My head snapped up at the mention of the Beta. Fear coursed through me. Wasn't I pack with them now? Did they keep Beta?
Kain looked at me walking over to where Levi stood, his hand rested on his chin while the other cut across his chest, he was in deep thought. Eyebrows drew together looking at me. I knew they could smell my fear.
"Omega, who is the Beta to you?" Alpha Kain asked me. Was I supposed to answer? How was I going to answer? I wasn't allowed to talk, I didn't know how to talk or even if I could.
He growled at my lack of response and I felt myself start to back up. I didn't want the Beta I wanted to run, to bask in the scent that now covered my body, I wanted something to come help put out this flame that was burning inside of me. I felt frustrated and helpless. I didn't want the Beta near me.
"Omega answer!" Kain's growl was fierce and angry, his patience with my silence gone. I cupped my ears with my hands and placed my head on my knees. I would be punished. My wolf whined.
"Bring in the Beta."
"Kain I have a feeling that he's scared of him. Maybe he's too frightened to speak?" Levi's voice was soothing, I wanted to stay with the old woman. She felt safe but I didn't move, and clutched at my stomach and bit my tongue as the heat beating at my body increased. I felt myself start to pant.
"Shit, Kain let's just leave him with Levi and talk to the Beta ourselves." It was Ben's turn to try, but I didn't hear Kain's response.
I felt him hovering over me. My skin broke out in goosebumps. Without looking up I slowly tilted up head and exposed my neck to the male in front of me. My wolf wanted to please him, wanted his approval for more than just being pack. My jumbled mind just wanted relief from this heat.
I felt his large hand on my head loosely gripping my hair. I felt his nose at the base of my ear as he crouched down to my level. My wolf practically purred at the feeling.
"You are more trouble than what you're worth." I clenched my eyes closed as I felt his hand tighten with a fist full of hair. It happened out of nowhere, I hadn't been expecting it. His fist clenched my hair and in one swift motion, he jerked his hand throwing me back into the bed with a low growl. I felt his annoyance with me. Felt his anger.
"Find something to mask his scent or else I'll chain him to the dungeon myself." I cradled my head, curling into myself in hopes to make me look smaller. My wolf was upset over our treatment, but we were lucky to get away with so little. We had challenged him and if all we got was a bald patch and a bump on the head we were lucky.
"Let's go talk to this Beta." Alpha Kain addressed Ben and the two of them left. Levi hadn't made a move towards me until the door was shut.
"That pup is going to get an ear full from me once his little ass calms down." She sounded angry as she made her way towards me. "He may be 25 but he's not too old to be thrown over his daddy's knee." Levi bent down and picked me up with little effort and placed
me back on the bed restraining me once more. "And as for your little stunt." Her finger poked my chest and I winced.
"You're lucky he only threw you! Kain doesn't like omegas after his mate died." Her voice got soft at the mention of her Alphas dead mate. "Now," Her voice got hard once more. "We need to get you some herbs to help mask your scent and keep all those big bad wolves away.
"In the meantime sleep." I kept my head low and laid back. My body was erupting and I let out a distressed whine. "Sorry pup, I can't give you anything for that. You'll just have to sleep it off. In a few hours, I can give you another suppressant but until then you'll just have to be uncomfortable." She patted my head and I felt tears leak from my eyes.
This new Alpha hated me. My wolf was also upset with our treatment. This is why we needed our Alpha. He was kind and we knew what our expectations were. We knew the rules and we did our best to obey them.
"Hey now, there's no need for tears." The healer patted my head. I felt the heat lick at my skin and even the gentle pats on my head were leaving desire in their wake. "Do you have a name?" I turned my head away from her and closed my eyes at her question. It wasn't worth trying to communicate with someone who didn't know the rules.
I wouldn't be disobedient again. If I was lucky they would get rid of me soon. With that in mind, I tried to shut out the sounds around me, tried to ignore the heat.
It was difficult. Levi had stopped her petting and didn't ask me any more questions. The silence wasn't soothing, I had an ominous feeling creeping over me the longer I laid. I was panting, Levi had placed a few ice packs around me but they did nothing to combat the heat.
Crash
My eyes shot opened. I sniffed the air and my hair stood on end. He was here. I could smell him. A dark part of me was confusingly excited, but the rest of me was scared. I looked to Levi who had stood up and glared at the door.
I could hear his voice. He was angry, he was looking for me. I didn't want him to find me, I felt fear. I wanted to escape.
And just as I started to yank on my bound wrists the door flew open and my eyes connected with his, and the smirk he wore as he inhaled my scent force goosebumps to litter my skin.
"I found you, Toby."
