Even though most people would say Sebert Rosenwood was the most fortunate character of the novel, his growth years weren’t great.
As most of Alphas, his parents were in an arranged marriage. His father was the last descendant from an old fallen pure-blooded Alpha family. Sebert’s grandfather from his mother’s side, Orpheus Rosenwood, took a liking to this pure-blooded alpha without relatives or power. As such, he forced Sebert’s mother, Celene Rosenwood, to marry him.
The author once compared the pure-blooded alphas to dog’s and cat’s pure breeds: they may look powerful and beautiful, but because of the inbreeding to keep their lineage pure, they were very prone to have some health problems. The Rosenwood lineage was especially prone to such problems. In a world where people could live until they were 300 years old, Sebert’s grandfather died at the young age of 90.
From then on, everything went downhill.
His grandfather was the only thing keeping Sebert’s family peaceful. As soon as he died, however, his father’s greed became uncontrollable. His mother was soon diagnosed with a rare disease.
But in fact, that was all a well-made plan from his father and his mistress: For a month, Lucien Rosenwood gave his wife a drug which caused some awful symptoms.
Celestine went to the hospital. However, her doctor was the young brother of her husband’s mistress and was well aware of his sister’s plans. He diagnosed Celestine as having a rare disease (the name was not mentioned in the book) and prescribed her some medicine - which was poison.
It was no surprise when she died less than a year later. Less than six months after that, his father married his omega mistress and brought his three illegitimate children to the Rosenwoods. Then, for the sake of owning the Rosenwood conglomerate, he not only started buying the key investors in the Rosenwood group but also started discrediting Sebert as an heir.
Sebert was a very pure blooded alpha which made his maturity come early, at the young age of 14 instead of the usual age of 18. Unfortunately, he also inherited a Rosenwood condition: hypersensitivity to omega’s pheromone.
This caused him to get out of control every time he smelled omega’s pheromone.
So, when his father made him drunk and sent an omega in heat to his bedroom...You know the rest. It became quite the scandal when it was known the Rosenwood’s heir made an omega pregnant when he was only 15. It was a bigger scandal when this very omega suffered a miscarriage after being pushed down the stairs by him.
Of course, this was an event very well-orchestrated by his stepmother.
As an omega, she had to be extremely smart to make an elite Alpha who became the CEO of the biggest conglomerate of the whole federation so madly in love with her to the pointing of marrying her...
As I said more and more, somehow I felt the atmosphere of the entire room become colder and colder. The face of the villain became funnier too...As time passed, my speech became more confusing and my eyes were becoming heavier. I couldn’t see the little cub’s face anymore. I think he is trying to say something...
Hey, I’m sleepy! Stop shacking me!
I struggled. Somehow I heard a slapping sound. After that, the palm of my hand became painful...But whatever. Finally, the villain stopped annoying me and I could welcome with open arms the blissful sleep that came to me. Though the headache that followed it was not blissful at all...Of course, when I woke up, I couldn’t remember a thing of what I said.
