Cora: I believe it was the summer of 6th grade when we decided to audition for a part in the musical, Alice in Wonderland. Adrien and I were stoked and were praying we got decent parts (spoiler alert: Adrien got the White Rabbit and I of course got Tails Alice). We did all the boring stuff, you know, singing, reading lines, pretending we were cows. Let’s just say it was an odd experience all around. However, there was this one kid who was just eccentric. He was over-the-top, extremely dramatic, and moody. He did not like us and he made it his job to show everyone.
Adrien: It was the night, well… afternoon of our dreams! It was opening night, our first performance in front of an audience. This was the first time I’ve gotten such a big role for such a big audience. I, of course, was the white rabbit! I had this awesome costume with a hat with rabbit ears, a velvet vest, and a giant pocket watch. I had this whole dance routine and a long solo to perform. After the group song that starts off the show, I had less than a minute to change into my costume before I went on stage. Well, we were about to start the show when this ‘lil kid starts screaming. For no apparent reason, just wailing. So, the mad hatter (my age) did the reasonable thing and locked him in the props closet. I stayed where I was because I was pretty shy, and my people skills were in the negatives. Cora started to get closer to the closet, and that’s when it all began.
Cora: So I went over to the props closet because I was hearing umm….well let’s just say interesting noises, and I found the mad hatter had locked up the child who hated me in a closet. I immediately hit the mad hatter on the head and opened the closet door. The kid started screaming at me and calling me a witch. Which I think was supposed to be an insult but I wasn’t really offended. He said I locked him in the closet and that I was heartless and mean. However I was the one who got him out of the closet and saved him. Countless people told him I saved him but he didn’t believe them. Welp, I gave up. Adrien told me not worry about it, and we moved on with our lives.
Adrien: The rest of the performance went amazing!
