About ten years ago, the world was sent to panic as two kingdoms: Lodor and Sigia went to war. Lodor is the north eastern kingdom, the largest in land size and has the largest population, however they were jealous of Sigia as they had the most powerful magic known to the world, spell-casters that could bring down meteors, shield entire cities with shields capable to protect them from natural disasters, people were able to bring cities down with a wave of their hand. Lodor however, resorted to unsavory methods to do what they did: the Lodorite military lay in wait and attacked the much smaller, but magically stronger Sigian military at night when their magic powers were drained from the day’s work, eliminating that squadron in a single night, the Lodorite military kept using that method and eventually took to using that method on the capital city of Sigia, Zeba. They completely massacred kingdom of nobles and their military, taking control of the kingdom to use as a personal arcane factory to feed magic weapons and power into the Lodorite military. The other countries stayed to themselves not wanting to get wrapped in it: Lodor is the north eastern kingdom, Sigia is the southern kingdom and made of about eighty or so extremely tightly packed and woven together islands, there’s the western kingdom Traleven, Saenao the south eastern kingdom and Biwetha the central kingdom.

I was sixteen when the siege of Zeba happened, luckily, I wasn’t in the city when it happened, saving my life, but on the flip side, I wasn’t there to take out a handful of battalions of Lodorite soldiers. They didn’t leave a single person of notability alive, save for two: the crown princess of the kingdom, Calastina Renaud…and myself, I am Aramathius Renaud. Calastina is my older sister. She was taken as a prisoner, married off to the second born prince of Lodor as an insensitive for him to stay in the new Lodor controlled Sigia as an arch-prince. I’ve always been to myself in the Sigian military, my magic doesn’t play well with others, so I was on my way to the front lines when the attack happened. Once I saw what happened to my city, everything burning, pillaged and destroyed, I knew what I had to do. I had to get back at the kingdom that did that, I wouldn’t stop until the blood of every Sigian hands was mirrored by Lodorite blood on my own in tenfold. However, my work is not like there, they went after everyone and anyone they could, I spend my days hunting down nobles and people in the military. I was able to smuggle myself on a Lodorite naval vessel, luckily I don’t need to sleep, eat…or breathe because of my magic, so I sank my dagger into the underside and tied myself to it so I was just dragged behind, using my magic to instantly kill an soldier that had the misfortune of falling overboard or to scrape barnacles off the bottom.

I quickly found somewhere in the capital of Lodor to stay. The capital is the city of Raviel, the largest city in the world with a population of about fifty million people, its coastal and this massive trade hub of all of the kingdoms, it has this intricate canal system that separates the city into what the people call the rings, but its more so districts however instead of specializations, the rings are markers of wealth, the closer to the coast the richer the area. The furthest out ring was mainly slums. They’re terrible, filthy and the people are always sick, hurt or in trouble without any way of seeking help. As you get closer to the coast, they get more opulent, clean and pristine, these big iron clock towers mark the edge of the canal separating them and bridges loop over them. The coastal ring is consistent of the palace and fine crafters like jewelers, ship-rights, things that get excessive amounts of money. The streets shift in material depending on what ring you’re in, the slums have roads of packed dirt turned into claggy mud by the copious amounts of waste thrown into them, the next rings have uneven, broken and chipped flag stone, the forth ring has smooth carved flagstone where the streets of the innermost two rings where the royal family, nobles and military live, the roads are wide, lined in gardens, have a proper sewage system and are made of carved flagstone of imported white stone. It is obvious the city sees anyone in rings further out past the fourth as not even people or worthy of the light of day, nobility is favored more than the common people in the eyes of Lodor. The wide canals are adorned with hundreds of narrower, winding or gird like fashioned smaller ones forming side streets, alleys or rapid passageways between rings for transportation of goods or people. The rings aren’t even rings, they’re half circles. Between each ring as a few massive carved stone bridges, the widest and biggest beings the main street connecting the outermost ring to the inner most, guards are always stationed in throngs along the bridges to ensure that people don’t go to areas they shouldn’t be, in their words that is, what they really mean is so they can keep commoners out of the nicer areas while letting the nobility freely wander as they please.

Interesting first chapter! It seems the main character has a lot of interesting powers, and you've got an interesting world!
