I returned to The Ink Pot early, early in the morning, Dimarkis is used to me coming and going at weird and random hours, so I also have my own key set to the place, I made my way back up to my apartment in the dark as I put my armor on the floor beside the door and went about my work, sending out magical sensors, minor divinatory spells to get the location of the next family, where their home was, the layout of the home and who all of the members were amongst things of that sort, used my maps and things to map out the best routes and things as I sat on the floor of my apartment, the things I used covering the coffee table, the sky grew heavy, cloudy and dim as the dawn came in, the sky not getting any bluer than an ashen robin’s egg tone as heavy, deep gray clouds covered the sky in heavy blankets, then the rain soon pattered softly at the glass panes of the windows covering everything in a glossy sheen of water that because of the weather and season, soon crackled as frost and thin veils of ice started gathering at the edges of the window panes, my breathe soon fogged within my apartment as it got towards the early, early morning and the temperature dropped to brisk and chilly, it wasn’t enough to snow, but it was enough that people are going to be staying in unless they have things for this.
I feel temperatures, but I don’t feel their effects; I can’t sunburn, I can’t get frostbite, amongst things of that sort, so I only lit my stove enough to brew some tea and make my breakfast, but other than that, nothing much. I didn’t need things like coats or cloaks, I didn’t dress in any heavier layers than I was already before, sitting on the floor of my apartment in more traditional Sigian clothing, I wore when I was just here to myself or helping Dimarkis around the shop, so as I got dressed for the day, I was just dressed in high waisted and wide legged black leather trousers over dark stockings with a tucked in intense dark and deep blood red silken top patterned with black/gold serpents covering my entire shirt including the long extremely wide sleeves, it had a deep and wide V-neckline showing the corset I had under it with the sleeves just resting atop my shoulder-caps, the sleeves loose, billowy and draped over my upper arms to where they bellowed out in wide rectangular bells over my forearms to my wrists, the hems adorned with ornate gold embroidery and crocheting of serpents and waves, but also at the end of the sleeves were long, sweeping black fringe tassels, my hair loose around my head as I just brushed my fingers through it. As I was waiting for my tea to brew, I just stepped into my bathroom as I properly washed my face in my bathroom and in the process nearly soaked my hair as I let it dry up in its natural intense ringlet spiral curls as I just brushed my fingers through it barely loosening them, redoing my makeup to the sound of the tiny kettle I had whistling. I poured myself a cup of tar colored tea as I put a few eggs over buttered toast and some rashers of bacon before I got back to my work, however it was only about an hour or two after I ate my breakfast, there was a knock at my door.
I stood from the floor, flicking my hand to clean everything up and hide everything as I walked towards it as I walked over to the door and opened it a crack,
“Dimarkis, is something wrong?” I asked as I opened the door further, Mittens instantly running into my apartment and diving onto my bed and nestling against my one pillow face down, purring loud enough I could hear him from the door.
“There…there’s someone downstairs…he…he’s saying he needs to talk to you.” He said, he looked…a little scared, dressed in just a dark blue tunic, gray trousers and house shoes, his hair a mess, glasses low on his nose and obviously just out of bed to open shop. I nodded softly before walking down the narrow stairs after him before stepping out into the shop, Aldoric was wandering about the aisles, dressed in similar clothing to when I met him, but a deep, midnight blue cloak around his shoulders lined in fleece with a big droopy hood down his back and a pair of matching gloves tucked into the big pockets of his robes, the robes he wore were in all shades of white, cream, blue, silver and gray; beautiful and well made with silvery embroidery of stars, moons and planets along the hems, a loose draped navy scarf around his collar and neck, his skin softly flushed from the wind and cold giving his face a softly frosted shimmer, his lips were much more deep ruddy pink from both the cold and lipstick, his eyes heavily shadowed with gray and blue, heavy liner and mascara, his pale icy platinum hair cleanly twisted into a knot on the back of his head save for a few stubborn curls that fell around his ears and his bangs over his forehead, a wide silver choker was around his throat with a big sapphire in the center, matching jewelry about his person and a pair of cobalt blue and silver flats on his feet over snowy stockings.
“Aram” he said as he sauntered over before hugging me despite I was raising my hand to stop him from getting closer, so I did softly push against him,
“Please…don’t touch me.” I said as I pushed him a step or two back, “I…cannot stand people touching me.” I added, growling softly, he looked confused,
“But…we…slept together last night.”
“No, you slept in your bed after I fucked you, then I left. It’s what…I do.” I said softly folding my arms, before nodding, “Let’s step outside, I don’t want to annoy Dima with an argument.” I said before stepping out the side-door into the wide cobblestone alley between the shop and neighbor, the roofs meeting at the middle so the water fell in thick ropes at random points, luckily there was a small awning over the side-door so we weren’t in the rain. I softly folded my arms again,
“What…are you talking about, Aram?” He asked as he softly grabbed my upper arm, I just swatted his hand away from me,
“Please…just don’t touch me.” I said, “Why are you here?”
“I was curious as to…where my Sigian sell-sword had vanished off to. You don’t blend in well, so it was easy to talk to the guards and find out where you went.”
“I am not your Sigian sell-sword, I am just a Sigian sell-sword, I am no ones.”
“But, you…saved me from those muggers, and you had dinner with me.” he said, he seemed extremely confused,
“I don’t do relationships, Aldoric, get it? I don’t date people, I don’t do the cutesy shit people do when wooing someone, that makes my skin crawl. I sleep around because I’m human, I like sex, big whoop. I fucked you because I find you hot and you were begging for it, drunk off your tits on two glasses of wine, not because I like you.” I said, harsh I know, but its true.
“But, I thought you…felt something.” He said as he looked confused and…rather heart-broken,
“Not in my heart or anything, I only helped you from the muggers because I’m a good person and hate people picking on others, I only had dinner with you because you made the guards nearly hunt me down.” I said,
“But, I was showing hints that I wanted something more from…this.”
“Well, I don’t. I don’t do romance.” I said, my breathe fogging heavily as was his, he had pulled his hood up as he stepped outside, “There’s no point in me making relationships.”
“…why?”
“No point” I said as I softly shook my head, “There are…reasons and things that exist that would not be good for the person I would be in a relationship for. They don’t forbid me from having relationships, I just do not like them whatsoever, plus those things make it extremely dangerous to even think about having a relationship.”
“Are you…cursed?” he asked, I laughed,
“No, no…I’m immune to curses; I just hate relationships. I see no point to them.” I said before shrugging softly, “So, please…hit me up if you ever want to fuck, but anything else, leave me alone, and…don’t follow me here again.” I said as I just allowed myself to phase back through the wall into the shop room, but the door pushed open before Aldoric shot his hand forward and a tendril of light wrapped around my waist and pulled me to the floor, I looked at my hands as smoke drifted off them, banished my intangibility…based on this spell, I’ll have it in ten seconds. I stood back up to my feet as he walked towards me, the loud sound of something sizzling filled the air where the white loop of light around my body burned into my body even through my clothing, smoke softly wisped out into the air, not burning or hurting my clothing, just making me grit my teeth in pain as I pushed it down to keep my face emotionless.
“No…you…don’t get to talk like that to me.” He said, his voice low and shaky, his eyes were watering, I slowly counted the seconds I had left till I could dismiss the spell, “You don’t get…to toy with my heart like that…then just tell me to contact you when I want to sleep with someone.”
“I did nothing to toy with your heart.” I said as I softly shook my head, “All I did was save you from getting mugged, we had dinner because you insisted on seeing me again, you’re here because you are blowing all of this out of proportion…not me leading you on or anything.” I said before softly brushing my hand upwards and the white light milked over black before shattering into smoke,
“But…but…” he sputtered, I sighed before motioning to myself,
“Aldoric…I’m Sigian…Imagine what would happen…if Frodnak heard that you were in a relationship with someone Sigian, after all his wife is being beaten by him every single day just for the fact of being Sigian, she’s so…so quiet nowadays because of him out of fear of his torture to her that also confines her to a wheelchair.” I said as I walked around the shelves, he looked confused,
“How’d…” he started before looking towards me as I rose my brow, “How’d you know all of that, you said you’ve been here for nine years.”
“And I wouldn’t be where I was if I couldn’t scry now, could I? Being able to connect your shadow to others is so…so helpful when it comes to scrying.”
“Why would you be scrying on my brother?” he asked,
“I wasn’t.” I said before flicking my hand and my dagger rose from the shadows into my hand and up my sleeve as I walked behind a display,
“Then…who were you scrying on?”
“Take a guess.”
“…the princess of Sigian.”
“The elder, Calastina, yes.”
“Why?”
“How could I not? I am Sigian, I knew something was wrong with my home because of how the people ended up with your brother in charge.” I said as I turned the end and stepped towards him, the shop because of its lack of windows save for the shop front window made it…extremely dark inside. This allowed the darkness to swirl and collect around my legs,
“How…could you scry on a royal…how could she not…just passively prevent it? Or how could there not be any…restrictions to something like that?” he asked, I softly cracked my neck as I stepped past him, stopping beside him,
“It’s…all so easy when you know the person you’re scrying on.” I said before slamming the side of my hand and the pommel of my dagger into the back of his neck making his eyes roll back as he went limp, the shadows rose up and covered us, I just left him on his bed in the palace before returning and quickly went back up to my apartment, gathered my things together, changed into a black tunic and put my armor and things back on before quickly gathering my weapons.
