Claire is left on the ground in agonizing pain as she clutches her side, where she got cut. Lucian slowly comes from the bushes and walks over to Claire to examine her cut.  

Lucian -Wow, he must have cut you pretty deep. 

Claire - W W - what the hell ( turns and sees Lucian next to her, she  screams  tries to get up but is struggling  )  Get the hell away from me  ( attempts to crawl and throw rocks at him ) 

Lucian -  Ow   ( he gets closer to her ) Listen, I'm not here to hurt. I'm just helping. 

Claire -  Get away from me ( grabs a stick )  if you come closer, I'll hurt you. 

Lucian-  My name is Lucian; okay, I'm not here to cause you any harm, so how about you sit down and let me heal your wound  (strolls over to Claire  to put his hand on the stick to lower it ) 

Claire sits down on a rock. 

Claire - You don't look like a human; what are you 

Lucian - I'm a grim reaper ( he fumbles through his cloak  to find  a healing potion and a piece of cloth  he begins to  place the potion on claire as they strike up a conversation)   

Claire - Really ( surprised ) I thought grim reapers are just fiction. 

Lucian - Oh no, my dear, trust me. We are very real. The only thing that is fiction is Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, now that is fiction. 

Claire - shouldn't be like collecting people's souls. 

Lucian-  I do. It's how I pay my bills.  

Claire - You have bills to pay 

Lucian - Yes, just like everybody else, it's not cheap to live by yourself its very expensive 

Claire - So why are you helping me 

Lucian- What?  

Claire - I said, why are you helping me. 

Lucian - Why wouldn't I help you? I'm not going to let you bleed to death. 

Claire - You know... you're different  from what I expected 

Lucian - What do you mean? ( confuse ) 

Claire -  I mean ... for a grim reaper, you're helpful. I didn't think grim reapers will be friendly. 

Lucian - The majority of them aren't except for me. I enjoy talking to people. I don't get the chance to interact with some because they always run away from me  ( Sad ) 

Claire- Oh, I'm sorry 

Lucian - It's okay. I mean, understand why people would be scared of me im not the best person to look at. But when I get the chance to interact with someone, it makes me feel like I'm human again. You know  ( small smile )  I don't feel like Im just this creepy guy to collect people, souls; I'm just Lucian for a little bit before I have to go back to the spirit world alone.  

Claire - So  you're all by yourself  ( sympathetic ) 

Lucian - pretty much yeah, but it's okay ill be fine, and speaking of fine ( he's done healing Claires wound ), I think you're all set to go. 

Claire looks at her wound and sees that the cut is almost gone. 

Claire - Wow, I don't even see it anymore   ( amazed). Thank you so much!  (hugs Lucian)  

Lucian awkwardly tries to hug Claire back. 

Lucian - um... you're welcome. 

Police Officer- Claire   Claire ( shouting her name ) Claire, where are you 

Lucian - I must go 

Claire - why can't you stay? You can help us find Amelia. 

Lucian checks his notebook and his clock. 

Lucian - I have a soul to collect. I'll be back to help once I'm done.

Claire - Wait, Lucian, don't 

Lucian - sorry, I have to go. 

Claire - Lucian, wait. 

Lucian Vanishes in thin air. The police come running down toward Claire is hugely out of breath as he is panting hard. 

Police Officer - Hey, I'm here  ( hands on his knees ). Sorry it  took me a while 

Claire - you missed everything!  I could have used you earlier. Gavin and Amelia were here  ( angry ) 

Police Officer - Are you okay? 

Claire - No, I'm not! Amelia would be here safely by now if you weren't so damn slow!

Police Officer - I told you I'm new here, okay  I don't know much about anything. I just recently graduated from the academy, not even a month ago. 

Claire - Oh my god ( frustrated ), this is great. I'm on a rescue mission with a cop that can't do shit. 

Police Officer places his head down with a disappointed look on his face as claire words sting him. 

Police Officer - you're right. I'm S.

Claire - Save it. I don't want to hear it. Let's go. 

They both make their way back to the house as Claire moves ahead of him in anger as the Police walk slowly behind her. When they arrived back at Steven's apartment, it's full of paramedics and police officers.  They struggle to make their through until someone shouts out the name Roger. 

Police Chief - ROGER!  GET OVER HERE NOW! ( Very Stern ) 

Roger - Oh no, I'm so screwed right now

Claire - Why would you be screwed 

Roger - Because that's my boss  

Police Chief-  I said get over here NOW! 

Roger walks towards the chief with his head down. The police chief goes on a rampage about how poorly of a job that Roger has been doing. During the rant, Claire is about to walk outdoor, but she turns around, heading towards to defend Roger. 

Claire - Listen, I know he's not the most competent person, but you bringing him down is not going to help.  

Police Chief - Who are you ( very confused ) 

Claire - I'm Claire, and I'm the whole dragged Roger out of the office so I can save my friend, so technically, you can't blame him. 

Police Chief - He's new here. He can't handle this.

Roger - I have been on front desk duty ever since I came here. You won't let do anything real police work. 

Police Chief - cause you're not capable of doing that right now.

Claire - With his help, we found a

Police Chief puts his hand up to Claire's face. 

Police Chief - You're not a detective or a police chief, so you have no business getting involved.  We are the professionals, so let us do our job, and you stay out of it. 

Claire - What about my friend? She's in danger right now, aren't you going to start looking for her. 

Police Chief - We'll continue the search in the morning 

Claire - That's too long. It would be best if you started looking now. 

Police Chief - listen, have other cases that need our attention right now well and find your friend tomorrow morning. 

Claire - But you cant 

Police Chief - I said what I said. Now I need you to leave the premises! 

Claire storms off and drags Roger by the ear. 

Roger - This hurts 

Claire - I don't care what the police chief said was going to find Amelia. 

Roger -  didn't you hear what the chief just said. 

Claire - I heard it clearly, but I don't care. Amelia need us 

Roger- I can't go against my boss. 

Claire - The hell with your boss? He's an asshole besides. Don't you want to prove yourself to him? 

Roger - I mean, I do but

Claire - Okay, so stop such a punk. Then you can't just let people like him bring you down. You need to stand up for yourself, and that starts now. 

Roger - Okay, you're right ... but he's right about one thing. 

Claire - What's that 

Roger - you need to rest. We have been up all night, and we cant be saving if were sleep-deprived 

Claire - I mean, guess you're right, but we need to be up first to get a head start in the morning. 

Roger - I'm on it. Come on; I'll take you back home. 

The scene ends with Claire and Roger getting into the car heading back to her place. 

Scene -25  Daybreak  

Amelia is slowly waking up at the crack of dawn. She hears birds chirping outside the window. She gathers the strength to get up to look outside. A ray of sunshine enters the shack hitting Amelia right in the face. Amelia smiles briefly right before Gavin takes a bag and place it over her face. She starts screaming but her. Sounds are muffled. Gavin pins her down to the ground, and rope ties her hands.  He carries Amelia's body over his shoulder and dumps her in the back of a rusty old pickup truck. He puts a trap over her and ties it so she can't escape. 

Gavin drives the truck until he pulls up in a parking lot back of the building.  He goes into his bag of clothes and quickly changes into a work uniform.  He gets out of the truck and walks towards the truck; he takes the trap off and wraps amelia's body around it tight. 

Amelia - I can't move at all. Its too tight 

Gavin - that's the point, and you better not a word because if you do, there's going to be more trouble your way

Gavins walks towards the loading zone, and he blends in with the workers that are loading and carrying items into the building. Once he enters the building, he sees a girl with dark red hair with glasses dressed in a blue cardigan with red pants; one of the workers calls her name. 

Worker - Hey Fiona, where do I put this box 

Fiona - Oh, just put in the medieval exhibit section on the right corner. 

The worker nods his head; Fiona continues directing the worker to place each item for the different exhibits.  Gavin makes his way towards  Fiona. He slight changes the pitch in his voice to make sure she doesn't recognize him. 

Gavin - Excuse me, where doe this go.

Fiona is too busy looking at a sheet of paper. 

Fiona - I'm just put it over there. I'll figure it out later. 

Gavin tosses Amelia into a pile of boxes in the corner. Gavin makes his toward Fiona, who is frustrated and stressed out. 

Gavin - Hey um... are you okay 

Fiona - yeah, Im fine. 

Gavin - You don't look fine 

Fiona - Im just really stressed out. The museum has two brand new exhibits that go out this week, and I'm coordinating everything. It's just a lot of pressure. 

Gavin - Hey, it will be alright  ( gives her a warm smile ). You need to take a breather. 

Fiona - yeah, you're right. I have just been so busy focusing on this that I haven't given myself a break. 

Gavin -  you cant always be working. You'll drive yourself crazy. 

Fiona - I guess you can say that I have 

They both give out a small laugh and smile back at each other. 

Gavin -  So I'm amusing you love history.

Fiona! ( very enthusiastic   )  I love it so much 

Gavin - Why? 

Fiona -  I love how history always connects us to the past that we can trace our roots, and it always comes back to us. 

Gavin - yeah, history is an exciting subject for me  ( his voice goes back to normal. 

Fiona takes a pause 

Fiona - you sound familiar. 

Gavin - you know  ( he slowly takes his disguise off). They always say the past does come back to haunt us. 

Fiona - Gavin, what are you doing here  ( sounding very concern )

Gavin locks the door to the loading zone so no one can come in. 

Gavin -  They always say no matter how much you tried to escape from it  .. you cant ( gets close to her face )  because the past cannot be erased  ( suspenseful music is playing in the background ) 

Fiona - I.. I... I ( stuttering her words and shaking  )

Gavin - The past always comes back to us, and the past doesn't forget.
