Chapter 2: The Festival Begins

Deku’s P.O.V

People were lining up to head inside the stadium.

“Gooooooood morning UA HIGH!!!” Said President Mic, “The time has come for the one, the only UA Sports Festival!!!”

People were cheering.

“In this very tournament, Pro heroes from around the world will get to see our great students in action and decide whether or not they get to work with those pro heroes,” President Mic said, “Who will be the one to take home the gold? Who will prove his worth? Let’s all find out!!”

I was training with a punching bag.

Mina was a little bummed.

“I wish I could’ve worn my costume though,” she said.

There was someone looking at me.

It was Shoto Todoroki, who’s quirk involved fire and ice.

“It seems like All Might has his eye on you doesn’t he?” He asked.

“Looks that way,” I said nervously.

“Know this,” he said, “I will beat you.”

He walked away.

“What was that all about?” I asked.

“I think its his father,” Momo answered, “His dad is dead set on him being the best hero there is.”

“Well, relatively speaking he is the best,” I said, “But that doesn’t matter. I’m gonna give it my all.”

I saw Uraraka talking with a student.

“Thanks again Hatsume,” she said.

It was that inventor girl.

I figured I could speak with her about the suit upgrades I showed Uraraka.

Later we were all walking out.

My parents were watching from home.

“Here comes our boy,” Dad said.

“Behold Class 1-A!” President Mic said.

Other students were giving us glares.

A pro hero, Midnight entered the stage.

“And now without further adieu, let’s get this show on the road,” she said, “The first course is….. The Obstacle Course!”

She showed us the stage.

“In groups of no more than 3, each team will race to the finish line,” Midnight said, “The team with the most points wins the first round!”

I looked at it.

“Whoa,” I said.

Uraraka and Iida became part of my group.

Big Jack was looking at me.

“I will beat you,” he said to himself.

“Ready….. set…… go!”

We started running.

Some other students begun to get ahead of us.

“We can’t let these guy get the better of us,” Iida said, “We need a plan.”

I thought of something.

“I can carry you guys and then Uraraka can make the others float keeping them off track,” I said.

“Oh yeah, I forgot you could fly,” she said.

I started to levitate and carry them.

“Iida, when I give the signal, boost us forward,”

“Got it chief,” Iida said.

I waited for the right moment.

There were dummy robots firing at us and I evaded them.

“That was close,” I said.

Uraraka saw something big.

“LOOK OUT!!!!”

“Huh? WHOA!!!” I evaded the giants.

Others weren’t so lucky.

Todoroki got through them with ease in his group.

He had frozen most of them.

Bakugo wanted to get ahead.

“Let’s go punk,” he said.

He used his explosives to boost him forward.

“Looks like everyone’s been busy training their quirks,” I said.

I saw Big Jack and started to descend.

“Now Uraraka!” I said.

She made him float.

“Amazing use of teamwork from Midoriya!” President Mic said.

Mina was using her acid technique to create rails that she could grind on.

“Now this is an acid trip!” She said.

Asui was doing her frog thing while the others were catching up.

Momo created a canon to fire at the robots to make a path.

“Easy done,” she said grinning.

There was also the guy who had his light quirk.

There was also an obstacle with pits.

We jumped around avoiding the falls.

Some students were so lucky with those.

Hatsume was using some gadgets to get across.

“Wow, she’s incredible!” Iida said.

Uraraka and I grinned.

I had one more trick up my sleeve to ensure our victory.

I grabbed a platform and had the others get on.

“What’s going on?” Iida asked.

I flicked my finger and a surge of green lightning flowed through me giving us a boost.

We made it to the finish line.

“Team Midoriya makes it first!”

The others from Class 1-A made it as well.

Momo allowed Mineta to ride his back.

“Sorry,” he said getting off.

After other warm-ups such as fighting robots, and long jumps the results were in.

Uraraka and I gave it our all earning approval from Aizawa and All Might…. er.. Yagi.

About 16 of us, including Uraraka and I were able to move on to the main event.

Bakugo looked at me.

“If we end up fighting, you better give it your all Midoriya,” he said.

Todoroki looked.

“Looks like I’m gonna have fun with him,” he said, “But his fighting style….. it looks familiar.”

Later I was drinking some water.

“That was a hassle,” I said, “But we made it through!”

I high fived Uraraka and Iida.

“And that is why you’re the best class president.”

I remembered the day we picked representatives.

For some reason I managed to get the most votes. Uraraka and Iida gave me them.

Uraraka kissed my cheek and I blushed.

“Now now you two,” Iida said, “Save it til after the tournament.”

Yagi was talking with someone who had fire around his body.

It was Endavor, the 2nd greatest hero.

“Whoa,” I said.

“That is my father,” Torodoki said, “2nd only to All Might. Your quirk seems similar to his.”

I was getting nervous.

“Then again, you may have managed to make those moves your own through time,” he finished, “So how did you get here.”

I looked at him.

“Through hard work and dedication, and with help from some important people,” I answered, “So no matter what situation I’m in, I’m not gonna lose. I’m gonna give it my all.”

He grinned.

“Let’s go then.”
