Note: YAY IM BACK! I'm so sorry for the two-and-a-half-month hiatus, I simply got lazy and was bombarded with homework and assignments once I went back to school. Don't worry, the finale is coming soon! Also, I'll post more chappies to make it up to you guys. :>
-Back on Earth-
The Gems were scuttling around Beach City busy preparing for Homeworld's expected invasion. Connie was trying to find Gems to help with the effort to defend their home, Bismuth was holed up in her cave constructing weapons and building parts at a rapid pace, Lapis was erecting a liquid shield over Beach City with the help of Peri, and Greg was, well, helping anyone who needed food and junk support in Beach City. The citizens were informed of the upcoming threat, which was nothing new since Homeworld targets Earth every now and then, but they still prepared for the upcoming invasion. Volunteers were popping up everywhere, and they were a big help to the effort, helping with the defences whenever able. It's been a week since Steven's warning, and the Gems were tense with anxious anticipation. They knew that Homeworld has had it out for them for a long time, but this, this was different. it was the final battle, they were sure of it. Else, Homeworld wouldn't have taken so long to make their move. If this wasn't going to be a huge battle, well, better safe than sorry. Lapis and Peri finished refining the shield with the help of the volunteers, who dubbed themselves 'The Defenders', which is a catchy and cool name, according to Peri and Connie. Connie couldn't find any Gems to help, which was expected due to the Diamonds corrupting most of the Gems on Earth at the end of the War, but she gave it a shot anyways. Bismuth was half buried in tools, and Greg was briefing The Defenders on strategies that they were going to use when the Diamonds came. The following days went on in a similar fashion, until in the dawn of the fifth day, the volunteer that kept watch saw a fleet of enormous ships dotted white, yellow and blue, come into view.
