"What?" Jake said surprised. "Your friend left you?"
"Mhm," I said. "Like one minute ago."
"That is rough," Jake said. "Are you able to talk about this with your parents?"
"No," I said sadly. "They would just laugh."
"I am so sorry," Jake said with a genuine tone.
"It's okay," I said. "I have been used to it. Most of the time, I feel like my only escape is by playing my ukulele. Sometimes I would feel like I am drifting off into my own world."
"At least you still have something that makes you happy," Jake said. "And if you need anyone, I will be there for you."
"Thanks," I said. 'Aw, that's so sweet.' I thought. 'Malissa would flip out tho. I don't care though. I just hope that I don't end up alone.'
"Good morning class!" The English teacher said excitedly. "My name is Mr. Phillips, and welcome to English class!"
"The first thing that I will have you all do to start this class is I will have you all write a story in your notebooks." Mr. Phillips said. "And then I will talk about the upcoming project, that will count as half of your first-semester grade."
I then reached into my backpack, and pulled out my empty notebook and my pencil pouch.
I then pulled out a sharpie, and put "English" on the cover.
I then put my sharpie back into my pencil pouch, and pulled out a pencil, and started on a story.
The story that I am going to start is going to be similar to my life.
The main character is a ukulele-playing loner, who has a sister who is favored by her parents and is smart and popular.
I was working on the second page when I felt a small piece of paper land on my lap.
I looked down at it, and it said,
"Meet me outside of the classroom, and we can hangout if you want."
I could automatically tell that it was from Jake. So I put the note in my pencil pouch and got back to my story so that the teacher would not know and get Jake in trouble.
'I hope that this really is from Jake.' I thought. 'Someone could just be pulling an evil prank on me.
